Since the tournament is non sanctioned and also "Am Only", what qualifies as being "Am"? Are you using PDGA guidelines or does the PDGC have their own? Just wondering.

Thanks,

We have our own.
Masters - players that avg par or better
Advance - players that avg over par 1 to 6 strokes over
Intermediate - casual players longer than 1 year

Every thing we offer is amateur, we just scale things back a bit.

We exist only to increase Disc Golf play in our community's,
We post our actions here to give newer players a venue to come and try out disc golf, Are Events are very laid back and ran smoothly, the rules we play by are Basic DG rules.

We enjoy playing and having a good time. just like you do.

sorry Mike, Miss Baldwin has asked me to to keep it to members only and rsvp.

we have 42 members in the PDGC "players disc golf club", of the 42, 22 of them have said yes to being there. only time will tell.

open Rsvp to- Redan Randy, pnut - vern - Matt $ & Kevin the KING & steph.

I hope that this course becomes a permanent private course, I will be working on it for the next couple of weeks getting it ready for play.

www.Discgolfinsider.com Reports that Some of the members behind the scenes are helping me out with some new web sites, and Mr-disc-sports will probably go away. taking it's place will be www.Playdiscgolfamerica.com
also www.Discgolfevent.com & www.Playingdiscgolf.com will be up and running soon.
one of our PlayDGA goals is to reach out and teach people about disc golf in our communities and to get them to play it.

Here is another example...

From Mr Disc's Website:
PDG (players disc golf??) Course Design Standards

Design Goals
1. Meet the design goals of the people that approve use of the land .
2. Course design is to be safe for players and non-players who pass near or through the course.
3. Course Design to serve both beginners and advance
4. Design a well-balanced course with a good mix of holes requiring controlled shots left, right and straight throws.

From the PDGA's website:

Disc Golf Course Design Standards

November 1, 2005
Disc Golf Course Design Goals

1. Satisfy the design requirements of the people and organizations who approve use of the land and fund the equipment for the course.
2. Design course to be safe for both players and non-players who may pass near or through the course.
3. Design course with the potential for multiple configurations to serve not only beginners but players with advanced skills; consistent with the budget and design needs expressed in Goal A above.
4. Design a well balanced course with a wide range of hole lengths and a good mixture of holes requiring controlled left, right and straight throws.
5. Utilize elevation changes and available foliage as well as possible. Take care to minimize potential damage to foliage and reduce the chances for erosion.

It was the PDGL, then you mention the PDGC above, but your main website abbreviates to PDGA. I would say nice try, but it wasn't even a good one. Now is the time when Chuck's alter ego Truth or Peaches comes on to bash the ADGO or mention how much money I make off of the intermediate players. Hold it.......here it comes.......

So...it's PlayDGA but you get a lifetime number in the PDGC for joining. That makes sense. But what if you join legacy disc golf? Do you get a lifetime SNDG (South North Disc Golf) number? Actually, it's good that your tourney is full and things are runnning well up there, but is it necessary to use the PDGA acronym? Looks like you can do fine without doing so.

Don't forget the 0ne-Year subscription to Tards in Shule the magazine. Which comes with a free button that says I Heart Shule. BTW guys if you can't make the Oak Grove Invitational I'm holding a private tourney on the same day. It will be the first in a series of Underground tournaments. Cash buy in, cash payout. The first round will be a rousing round of pin the tail on the donkey. Followed by an exciting elimination round of Parcheesi. Lunch will be provided. We will have balowme sandwiches and kool-aid. Every player will receive a player pack full of nice party favors. So come on buddies and enjoy the fun. It will be called the ParcheesiDonkeyGamingAlliance.

Chuck-Do you not know that the PDGA hq is in Augusta? Why do you continually make it a priority to use the PDGA acronym? Why not use Disc Golfers For America instead? or Disc Golf Players in America? Or anything else that doesn't use PDGA, DGA, or Disccraft as its acronym? Would it be the same if you lived in Utah?

PDGA

Postby cmueller » Thu Feb 07, 2008 10:50 pm

I'm sure you guys are wrong. Chuck made it clear a year or so ago that he understood that there was confusion with his use of the PDGA acronym and he agreed to stop its use. I'm sure he wouldn't start that up again. Also, about that time (give or take) I and others explained to him the nature of plagiarism and pointed out explicit examples of it on his web pages. I'm sure that if there are any remaining examples on his web pages, it is only because he has not yet had the chance to rework them all. I'm sure he also knows that changing a couple of words here and there doesn't change the fact that it is plagiarism. (I'm also sure that he doesn't think that it's only plagiarism, copyright infringement, or trademark infringement if you're a member of the PDGA.) Perhaps if someone simply politely told him to remove the pages from the web until they are not blatant examples of plagiarism, he'd do so.

Perhaps.

Problem is that most of you smart asses have no clue as to what you are talking about.

To me the PDGA is nothing more than a Disc Golf Mafia, you either join them or else!

Must I report to you guys every thing that I have done behind the scenes in getting permission to use all the material on my site?

A little disc golf history,

info copied and pasted by mr-disc

Disc golf, in some form, has probably been played informally since the early 1900s, according to Victor Malafronte's, "The Complete Book of Frisbee." But modern disc golf started in the late 1960s, when it seems to have been invented in many places and by many people independently. Two of the best-know figures in the sport are George Sappenfield and "Steady Ed" Headrick.

George Sappenfield and early object courses

For example, "George Sappenfield", a Californian, realized that golf would be a lot of fun if played with discs. He set up an object course for kids to play on, and other early courses were also of this type, using anything from lamp poles to fire hydrants as targets. A year later, Sappenfield introduced the game to many adults, and courses began to crop up in various places in the Midwest and the East Coast (some perhaps through Sappenfield's promotion efforts
, others probably independently envisioned). Some of Sappenfield's acquaintances are known to have brought the game to UC Berkeley. It quickly became popular on campus, with a permanent course laid out in 1970.

I am not sure, but I think last time Chuck was up to his shenanigans the PDGA issued a cease and desist (sp) order against him.

They asked me to stop using the name www.mypdga.com
funny thing about this is, that name was parked unpublished, I just own it.

shenanigans? No goof-ball it's my business, one that I am trying to grow.

I do not understand why you would want to claim someones hard work as your own.

I wonder if good ol George Sappenfield felt this way.

Get Over it! THe PDGA does not own Disc Golf, and they sure as hell can't tell Me or any of us what to do. unless your a member.

Most of the stuff found on the pdga web-site came from somewhere else,
All I know is that, the pdga did not invent the game disc golf that I promote.
Dig deal!!! Play Disc Golf America or PlayDGA is not the same as PDGA.

Don't hate because you did not think of it first,
I still have done nothing wrong, just build courses and share the game.
Dang what an a s s h o l e, that chuck guy.

In addition
the logos are different
the mission statement is different
the structure is different

the only thing that is the same is the game we play.
even then our rules are basic.

The thing that bothers me most, you guys should be thankful, with my efforts in growing the sport, the more people that get introduced to the game the more that will play, with the potential of sending more players to the professional ranks or just to test their skill against the top ranked players.
were is the harm in this?

Understand, my mission is not to stop growth in the PDGA, only share an promote the game we both love.

Build me a course from the ground up with little or no help, then you can call me names.
until then you will not know whats its like to poor your heart and soul into a good cause, just to get spit on.

Yea I am a real bad person. but I am not your enemy.

Chuck, see that little [5] in the text you copied directly from Wikipedia? It's a footnote reference. The person who posted that information onto Wikipedia was crediting the place they got the information.

(For the record the [5] referenced http://library.thinkquest.org/25034/intro-history.html )

You did not credit Wikipedia. You did not credit the thinkquest site. You simply posted the information. This is what you do on your website (sometimes changing a word or two). Now I don't really care what you think of me for saying so, but this is plagiarism (and copyright infringement as well - works do not need to be registered to be copyrighted). That your logo, mission, etc. are different from the PDGA is not relevant.

NOBODY is saying that you shouldn't be able to form your own disc golf organization - NOBODY! What has been said is that you shouldn't do so in such a way that there is ANY confusion between you and the PDGA. Frankly, I'm puzzled why you would choose names with the PDGA acronym. This prevents yourself from referring to your organization by its acronym. Since acronyms are nice abbreviations for club names, I'd think you'd want to select a name with an acronym you can use without violating the PDGA's right to that acronym in the disc golf context. Yes, they have a RIGHT to that acronym and you do not - just as I can't start the Independent Business Manufacturing company and call it IBM. Anyway, call your club what you want, but don't use the PDGA acronym (and don't let your club members use it either). (Frankly, if you are as anti-PDGA as you seem at times I'd think you'd want to distance yourself from THEM and would not want the confusion from your side either.)

Anyway, the plagiarism and copyright infringement are also troubling. Yes, my last post had a bit of a smart-ass tone to it, but that's because you seem unreachable. You know full well that I explained plagiarism to you a year or so ago (I don't recall when it was exactly) in a perfectly calm, friendly, and direct manner. I was trying to help you understand. This is a violation of law (though one that is unlikely to be prosecuted). It's also just bad form. It offends people. REALLY, it does. Maybe you don't care if you offend people, but if you offend people, you shouldn't be surprised that they don't line up to join your organization.

Is this guy serious. I've played your courses. You promote Pre-K for disc golf. People that play your courses and tournaments are only being set up for disappointment. So I guess they go in as a Rump, they play your shule action on shule courses and they come out as a Barney. Unable to compete in a real tournament. By real I mean PDGA sanctioned. I'll leave you with this Chuck. The words of the greatest rapper of all time:

You a fan, a phony, a fake, a p ussy, a Stan
I still whip your a s s, you thirty-six in a karate class
You Tae-bo hoe, tryna' work it out, you tryna' get brolic?
Ask me if I'm tryna' kick knowledge
Nah, I'm tryna' kick the sh it you need to learn though
That ether, that sh it that make your soul burn slow

Vote for me in 2008. My only promise is, I won't be a tool like Chuck Smith
I'm inbred white trash but I won't raise taxes. I promise to legalize Sunday beer sales and I did have relations with that woman.

Can we get a moderator to delete or flush this whole thread :?:

The tourney is full so I am sure all particpants no longer need this info. I am quite sure they are aware that Senor Disc has his own website and can get info there.

How will we slam him with hip-hop lyrics if you cancel the thread. Mr. Moderator please censor Vern because he wants to delete threads, that upsets me. Also, the word Vern offends me so please have him change his name to Hank or Billy. Thanks buddies.

Jay is secretly a Top Gun Club member and that offends me. Come out of the Lightning Disc closet Jay.

BTW...I prefer the name - Billie. I call myself that when I am rubbing tree sap from fresh cut trees on my man boobs. I also prefer scissoring over censoring.

Dang, I have offended myself now.

Is it me, Vern?

I think that Vern just wants to censor me. I finally put in my two cents and in he comes wanting to flush the entire thread.

I bought tickets to your boil lancing. The wife and kids have never seen one. Me, I never miss a good boil lancing... I hope it squirts and little critters crawl out of it....

I really think you missed the point. If you want to start up a new league LIKE the PDGA, that is a good idea. But you have got to be more creative than calling it the PDGA.
So say I join the PDGA, are the rules pretty close to the PDGA rules or does the PDGA have different rules than the PDGA? I have heard alot about the PDGA and I bet the PDGA is a good choice. I like the idea that the courses played need to be safe. The PDGA makes sure the people dont get hurt out on the course alot like the PDGA. So do you think the PDGA will be pissed when you go to market the PDGA? Oh, how do I sign up for the PDGA?

you have to take a quiz test to see if you can misspell atleast 3 or more words per paragraph... then you have to send them you money, which in turn you get some lightning disc prizes in return, they may look like thay've been in a box that was tossed all over the place, and may be bent slightly, but what else would the PDGA give you?

...and you chose the same day as the ADGO Spring Fling. I am sure that was just a coincidence that you chose the date the day after Paul announced the date. Pathetic!

Sorry Greg it's not Pathetic, we already had our sites set on this date.

I really don't fill that it will hurt the adgo event, because none of you guys ever come out and play with us anyway. and we are ok with that.

So peace to you my brother.

It just seemed to me that since you announced this upcoming event on December 11th that the decided date was maybe done on purpose to compete with the ADGO event. If I am incorrect, my apologies. Good luck with your tournament.
