2 Meter Rule -- New Perspective

Postby Dale H » Fri Jul 12, 2013 11:28 am

Good article on the 2-meter rule on PDGA site. Turns out that Keith is a mad genius. Always wondered about the 2-meter rule and why he always includes in his events.

I had never thought about lack of 2-meter rule perhaps providing a competitive advantage to some. Here is the link to the article that was featured in the PDGA home page: http://www.multibriefs.com/briefs/exclu ... eAehNLVAkQ

With nearly 600 people taking the poll on the article - 65% say no, we should not universally apply 2 meter rule. It is often very difficult to interpret in tourney situations. Most people do not even know that 2 meters is over 6'6", how do you measure that in a tourney? What if the ground below is not level? The premise is sound - enforcement is ridiculous. I think that people using trees to their "advantage" occurs way less often than arguments about 2 meters in tourneys.

It is a lousy rule - you might as well make the rule if you can reach up and touch it, you are safe. Honestly, it would be a better application - and sorry if you are 5'2".
