If anyone who isn't at Lake Russell that weekend is looking for a local disc golf activity, consider coming down for a course installation workday at Perkerson in downtown Atlanta. We've been working nearly every weekend since January 1st with a small crew and making slow but steady progress, and the course is really coming along. Most the course has been cut out and we're now getting into the fun work with construction -- trails, kiosks, stairs, etc.
On Saturday Sept 9th Trees Atlanta is holding a volunteer event at the park focused on pulling invasives. They are bringing their goats and a bunch of corporate volunteers.
For disc golfers, we'll focus on making changes to course on the front 9 by moving holes 1-3 and possibly 8 & 9. Hole 1 to a par 4, hole 2 & 3 shift to bring the ditch more into play. Building a new teepad for hole 5. Hole 8 is shifting completely, and hole 9 will be extended to a par 4. Turnout size will dictate what gets accomplished.
Bring: hand tools (chainsaws not allowed unless you've got a license) and gloves. Rock bar would be nice if anyone has one. We'll have plenty of extra tools on site.
Arrive early for free coffee/doughnuts and to meet the sheep herd.
8:30am-9am: free coffee/doughnuts
12:30pm: organized action type TBD
