Bobby,
Yeah it'll probably be about 30 holes. That's what we did last year and it goes by pretty quick. Maybe even faster than 18 typical tourney holes where you actually finish the hole. We want as many aces as possible! Plus, last year we sold 95 player's packs and had 84 participants. I'd like to think we may have 100 players this year. Glad you're coming.

This year's disc!

The 2012 Ace Race prototype disc is officially classified as a long range driver, but it could be more accurately described as a hybrid driver and is superb for running aces! Faster than a Buzzz but slower than a Stalker, the disc offers players controlled fairway shots. At medium to fast speeds this disc will hold the line to finish with a slight hyzer.

The disc seems like a longer Wasp, but with a lot more glide to me.

We’ll be ordering players packs for the Ace Race this Tuesday 9-11. In years past we’ve ordered about 100 packs with the expectation that they will sell out. This year however we are not going to order a big surplus. We just don’t want to tie up the money designated for concrete tees in plastic that potentially may not sell. This means that if you want to guarantee yourself a spot in this year’s Ace Race at Oregon Park you’ll want to preregister by next Monday.

Are 2nd Sunday dubs on this weekend? If so, this might be a good opportunity to sign up for the Ace Race and meet the Monday deadline. Sign up at 1:00?

Yes Dale, you should be able to pick your group. It'll probably be groups of eight. In the past Wayne has even done a "team" concept for a little side action.

You still have until 10 pm tonight to preregister for the Ace Race. We are going to buy a few extra packages for folks who didn't get the news but they'll go extremely quick day of. So again, if you want to guarantee yourself a pack, sign up today!

We had about 48 people pre-register! It turns out that Wayne ordered about 30 additional player’s packs (20 less than last year) that will be up for grabs for day of sign-ups. They will probably go quickly so get there early Saturday morning to insure you get in. You can also get yours by signing up this Tuesday night during singles or Thursday night during doubles.

The ace fund was sponsored by Discraft on condition that it be paid to the player with the most aces instead of being split. They admitted to watching Highlander right before making this decision.

If two people hit an ace, will they split the ace fund? Or will it go to whoever hits the longest ace?

On the score cards, players mark "A" for aces and "M" for holes on which they hit metal. The player with the most aces after both rounds is declared the winner. In case of ties, the number of metal hits is used as a tie breaker. If a tie persists, a closest to the pin contest is then used to determine the event winner.

It looks like we will have 28 holes and they are all pretty short so the winner, as in years past, will probably have 2 or 3 aces.

I think we have about 15 players packs left that will be first come first serve tomorrow morning if you're thinking about trying to make it.

We ordered 80 packs so it should be a good group of folks having a good time throwing for aces!

What if someone aces the wrong hole? Say they throw backwards by accident and ace the previous hole. Does that count?

If my midget posse shows up and one of them aces, would someone in the group be kind enough to give them a lift to get their disc out of the basket? Thanks in advance.

What about a duece? Do they just get forgotten about? Dueces are cool too. Why should we just throw them to the side? Poor little dueces. :(
