One round of tournament play each day, but the course will be open by 8:30 so that you can get a round in before the players' meeting.

The registration form just went up so no one has signed up yet. Be the first. Doug P. said he would arrange for online registration for anyone who doesn't want to use the mail-in form. Peace.

Well, if you're having match play elimination and you get knocked out before Sunday Dec. 16, we need the competition.
It doesn't cost much and all of the money goes to payout the Pros, except for the 2 bucks for park fees. No players packages, no CTPs. No frills, just bills. We will have optional ace and ctp buy-ins.
It's so cheap, I encourage anyone who feels confident in their game to enter the Open div. ($15). You could be gettin' paid (45% deep).
Plus, it's the Crucible! Aaaargh, it's like Lucy yankin' the football away from Charlie Brown. Next time, you'll kick it all the way to the moon!
I think, therefore, it is!

So if AMs play we don't get anything? The post above read everything was going to Pros (except $2). That's confusing...

For five bucks, you get to play one of the most challenging courses anywhere with your friends and fellow d-golfers! It's fun, fun, fun. If you win your div., you get a trophy to show off. What else do you want for five bucks?
If you want to win $'s, like I said, enter the Open div.
BTW, I live next to an amateur ball golfer whos goes all over the country to serious competitions and he doesn't win anything except for side action he plays into.
I also mentioned that there would be ctp and ace pots buy-ins. Lots of people play in tournaments and don't win anything.
I, personally, have never won anything except for a ctp once. But I still love to play.
Bring your A game and you might win something. Or not. Peace.

kat,
you've played the course. you know it's the best in the state, when available for play.
if it was a PTP course open all year round, many would pay $5 to play it.
ain't no course like the "Big C" that draws you like a magnet to shoot a personal best.
i'm thankful the athens boys and babes open it when they do.
now go find a sun ray, lick yourself, and make furballs. (wink)

Yes. The 2 days are separate. You can plan one, you can play the other, you can play both, you can even play neither if you really want.

We start late, we finish early, entry fees are dirt cheap. Come to Athens, lose to me and Forrest, go out on the town, get turned down by the local coeds, wake up late and groggy, _still_ have time to get to the course and play singles, where we let you re-throw one shot per hole because we know you're really still thinking about the girls that wouldn't talk to you the night before.

We aim to please.

Well thanks for clearing that up. As playing both I will need to find a partner but I will be there for singles. And for the women if they are good looking and will help me pay child support for 3 kids then hey I'll think about it.

You DO NOT go in the normal entrance for Sandy Creek to get to the crucible course.

Everyone should come out and take their beatings. How can you stop the Porter/Callaway combo? I found Doug's MRV from the lake at Rock Hill from 30 years ago, so I'd say we're pretty much invincible. Well, unless Breiner shows up with some soft Rhynos.

Crucible in December pre-registration is closed. If I receive any in the mail after Thurs., checks will be returned. If you haven't mailed it out yet, don't. If you have, be prepared to pay cash if you want to compete, in case I don't receive it in time.

Also, there has been a change in the format due to park regulations:

all divisions will be paid out.

I'll give details at check in/registration.

So there is going to be payout for all. Well I guess entering PRO thinking I was gonna have a chance at some kindof payout was just a crazy jester. Maybe I'll get paired up with $ see him lose a disc and pick it up afterward. That will be my payout. :P

I don't care what we do...we can move down and try to win something. I don't know about you but PRO really doesn't fit me so well. If you played with me you would know that. It doesn't matter I give it 110% in both divisions. Its your call I could care less I'm there just to play this awsome course.

Anyone who wants to change divisions can. Anyone who wants to withdraw can and will get a refund. Nothing is set in stone. This is a very low key event. This isn't the PDGA. Everyone relax. Take a deep breath. Everythings's going to be fine. You will not be playing for a large payout. I'm sorry. It just isn't going to work out the way it was originally planned. But this way, everyone will be playing for something, at least. Come and enjoy one of the best courses in Georgia and have a turdload of fun. Peace.

TD, you never made it appear any other way than a laid-back, no pressure (other than the baggage the competitors bring themselves) opportunity to have some fun and get to play the gem.
for many, it's the side action that's the payout.

I would suggest to anyone looking for a partner that they just show up. There will be others looking for a partner as well. Several people have posted looking for a partner. The only thing is, if you're the oddman out, you'll be left out in the cold.
But I'll still letcha play. You just won't be competing. There's always Sunday. Odd dog singles.
Don't tell me you can't make it 'cause of church. Believe me, God will understand. This is disc golf after all. If Jesus were alive today, you know that long haired hippy freak would be tossing disc. Amen. Peace on Earth, goodwill toward disc golfers.

In addition, a Comment like that will loose a lot of support in this area.

What?? thats blasphemy.

Where are the moderators at?

And Gene C., I'm sorry I missed the tournament but thanks for running an event at a REAL COURSE not some garbage course up in North GA where no one but rednecks live.

And isn't there a rule about the separation between church and the message board? or is that Church and state? either way it should be enforced.

Mr. Dics,

Loose support is fine with me. I don't weigh much. The weather was great! The rain held off just until everyone finished their rounds. It was as if God himself willed it to be. And I,m sorry to have to break the news (or should I call it olds), J.C. was crucibled almost two thousand years ago. Some religious fanatics of his day had him whacked. By the way, If he were alive to read my post, I'm sure he would detect my tongue in cheekiness and take no offense. So don't pretend to speak for him, you moron hypochristian. If anyone has a problem with my comment about J.C., I will gladly present my rosy red in its full glory so you can plant your most impassioned favors upon it. I'm totally cool with what he stood for but I'm not about to totally dismiss my sense of reason for it.
If yew kud spel beter, pepul wudint no yew wur dum and mite take yew mor seriusly. If you want to be abused more, take it to my e-mail: ganderby@yahoo.com. You are no match for me. I guarantee it!

P.S. Because I realise you are too dumb to get it, I misspelled your name and wrote crucible instead of crucified on purpose. I did this because I think you are a d**k and because of the pun/ double meaning of crucible.

Thanks to all who showed up for doubles today. Tomorrow is odd dog singles. The crucible will surely live up to its name with 20-25mph winds and gusts up to 35mph. I know, it's no Chuck Smith design, but it'll do.
See you there (not you, Mr. Dic).
I think, therefore, it is!

Wow---that was impressive, yank. Keep up the great work both on the course and on the board.

Glad you like the course, Ed. I must say, my involvement in the layout of the course is greatly exagerated. While it is true that Doug and I played a few rounds using a disc bag as the basket, the layout was all Doug. My contribution for the course was to pat Doug on the back and say, "Job well done!" I had a blast today. Thanks to all the Athens crew.
Thanks for coming. Yeah come on!

Great tournament. Awesome course.

Chuck,

Do you get some satisfaction in making yourself sound like an idiot? I usually don't respond to your idiocy, but I couldn't help myself. I've played over 50 courses and this is in my top 2 or 3. I've seen some of your designs and there is much to be desired.

BTW, I just got back from church and read your Jesus comment. I'm sure the TD wasn't trying to be sacrilegious or anything like that. Stick to posting on sites about irrelevant tournaments.

Thanks to all who made it out to Athens for the Crucible this weekend! Congrats to Tim and Scott, and Doug who won each day....and to everyone who supports Athens up-and-coming disc golf.

Mr-Disc, the Valentines tournament sounds cool, but I find myself NOT wanting to support your events due to your comments/responses to everyone else on this forum. This is disc golf. 400 foot hyzers. 75 foot eagle putts, 600 foot rollers. Beer. 37 foot griplocks into the first tree in the fairway. Camaraderie. Come on bro, lighten up, throw some frisbees. Again, thanks to TD Gene and all the players this weekend. Looking forward to the crucible in Feb.

Thanks for coming. Yeah come on!

I know this is a temp course and the previous reviews have pretty much just said it is difficult and awesome. I have not played it before.

How would you guys describe it? Long, Short, Open, Wooded, Trickery need on every hole, etc.????

Well - I guess I shouldn't go. :D

That's the same reason I didn't play Augusta National when I was swinging the sticks.

actually, i like the crucible 'cause if your disc lands 100' up in a tree, you don't take a stroke penalty, but play the lie.

ok, comrade, i'll give ya' the down and dirty on hole 3 from the longs:
panty-waist upper 700 or so footer warm-up hole that the "locals" call a, pardon my snicker, a par 5! off the tee, just loosely toss a bit more than 350' to a
safe texas-sized patio landing area. ignore the rough running down both sides. it's, like, many feet apart.
approach is a beginners-type thumber, tomahawk or backhand practice throw. half-heartedly blind lob over a 100' tall stand of evergreens/oaks roughly another 350'.
can the 60-75 footer for your easy 3.
might get lucky and field-ace for your 2, though.

there's another route, but it's a little tricker.

oh, i also like it 'cause Scott Hall from Cumming has kilt 2 birds on his drives. one in mid-flight and one on a limb.

It's a par 5 from the Pro tee's. Maybe you should not play the grandpa tee's. Not very many 3's from the long pad on hole 3.

Thanks again to all who made it for odd dog singles Sunday. It was a bit breezy but I'd say things went rather well. The zephyrous conditions did make it a whole different game, though. It was like someone was waving a paper fan next to you all day. The sun also made an appearance and nicely warmed things up. There was at least one person wearing shorts. Wow! What a day!
I was gonna post the scores today but they're in my wife's car and she won't be home 'til late when I'll be crashed. I'll post them tomorrow. Peace.
