Relay for Life Fundraiser Tournament Results

RESULTS FROM 2/24/12

3 participants, Luke McFarland, Chris Rickey, and Wookie, declared themselves one-man teams and played each other 28 holes of skins. A winner was not declared, as all three participants donated all their money to the charity Relay for Life, a fundraiser in the fight against cancer. All told 75 bucks was raised, which was more than would have been raised had no one come, so thanks guys, for coming yesterday!

Know how you could get more feedback? Quit posting your junk in multiple threads so people will know to check it in one spot and not have to go back and forth between threads. Just a suggestion.

Did one at Deerlick. It was a blast! no rules for Noonan tournies except you can't touch the disc or player.

You can't do anything that could cause injury either! You can lean on the basket while a person is putting but can't block the shot. The injurious behavior does not apply to the thrower, so they could try and bank it off your body into the basket! NOONAN Dubs are a blast for sure!!

I'm going to add Mullligans for a buck also to beef up the proceeds. Will you guys come to this one? I'm aiming for March 3.

All ribbing aside, I will make any action you throw at the Monty, Luke. Love the course and love the designer. Count me in.

Not sure the date will work----lots of folks telling me no. All of the Macon crew goes to Live Oak March 3. Is sometime in February too early?

Considering your next event is in Feb. and you want to have another one in Feb. and it's already hard enough to get people to come out to this amazing course, I would say that you may be pushing it. Do you have a short fuse on this, or can this charity wait until Spring?

Agreed.

The NOONAN format sounds like great fun, but I'm not likely to make the drive a second time in Feb. Late March or April sounds do-able though, if that doesn't hose your deadline.

I need to be done before April. I kinda hoped March 3 was the latest I'd use, but you're probably right, even with a different format. Lemme go looksee what's available... ok so it looks like March 24 at March 30 are available.

Just going to throw this out there, but the Relay for Life events I've been party to usually involve people sponsoring a participant to walk laps and they will donate X amount of dollars per lap. What if we used the amount of holes played as a sponsorship criterion. You could designate a weekend for play to be counted and golfers could play their home couses as many times as they could or travel to several different ones. If you need to have some part of the event at the Monty, you could make it mandatory to play a final round there to turn in you cards or your first round to register. I could see myself playing Sat Dubs at Alexander, hook up with some people to play Ft. Yargo and then Glow golf at Lenora. On Sunday I'd start at Pnut Dubs at Redan and then head over to the Monty to finish. (contingent upon my wife agreeing to it!) I guess you could give prizes to most holes played, most course played, most distance travelled.

That's a cool Idea. I think it's a little beyond me, that type of coordination. Plus, I'm selfish. I want the traffic on the Monty to help me beat down things for the spring!
