As most of you have heard, one of my neighbors, George Pedderson, was in a terrible aircraft accident a few weeks ago out here. He remains in a medical comma at Grady Burn center while undergoing multiple skin grafts for severe burns over 70% of his body. His aircraft crashed into the cemetary on your left as you approach Flyboy, damaging one of the grave sites. As you might expect, this tradgedy has been very hard on George's family.

The Peddersons, who live on the old "Kudzu" hole, have always been supporters of Flyboy Disc Golf, and I'd like to do we can to help them out. After numerous emails and phone calls from concerned disc golfers wanting to know how they could help, and suggesting a fund raising event for the family, I agree it is a great idea, so let's do it.

Thanks for participating!

Great idea Kelly! I won't be able to make it, but I'd donate to a paypal account if there was one available for this purpose.

I'll post this on DGCR.

Thanks Scott. Several folks who can't make it on Sunday have already inquired where to send a donation, or already mailed one to Flyboy. I can't tell you how much this means to the community, the Pedderson family, and to me, that the disc golfers are stepping up to help out this family. It really speaks volumes.

Here's my info for any future donations to the cause:

Mail:

Flyboy Aviation
254 Consolation Church Rd
Whitesburg, GA
30185

Paypal:

legman111130180@yahoo.com

All donations from this fundraiser will go to Pam Pedderson, George's wife.

Thanks for helping me get the word out Scott!

Myself, Zak Kemmer, Rob Case, and Rob's cousin will be there. We're trying to get out as close to 10 as possible. I assume that cash is always an acceptable form of donation, yes? good.

Keith, the actual event is on Sunday, but Brad Orman will be escorting some players on Saturday as well and if you'd like to play then, come on out. We won't be grilling on Saturday but you're more than welcome to come out then. This goes for ANYONE wanting to play on Saturday. Tee time is 10am.
Thanks!

Just a reminder that the George Pedderson fundraiser disc golf day at Flyboy is this Sunday. The weather forecast is awesome and the course is in great shape. Show up any time between around 9am and 2pm Sunday to play the course. Park in front of of the orchard on the right side of the driveway. There will be a grilled chicken dinner available starting around noonish. Donations are at your discretion. For those players coming Saturday (couldn't make the Sunday event), the tee time is 10am with Brad Orman organizing the groups. Lunch is subject to availability on Saturday.

George is now stable, and looks like he'll pull through, but still in a medically induced comma to facilitate skin graphs for his burns. He surely has a long hard road to recovery ahead of him and your support is greatly appreciated by the family, our neighborhood, and me. Thanks to everyone who has already donated, and those coming out this weekend to support this cause.

See you Sunday!

Chattanooga area will be sending down some players to represent and donate. Expect at least 4 maybe more... should arrive around 11:30 am. We're trying to put together a nice caravan of players to support the cause!

Thanks again everyone for the show of support! We should have a great turnout for the fundraiser, the weather will be perfect, and the course is in great shape. No worries if you don't make it by 2pm, just get here when you can and hit the course. Parking will be on the RIGHT side of the driveway in front of the orchard, then walk downhill, through the hangar, to sign-in. Looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow!

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday and Sunday to support the George Pederson family. We had almost 50 golfers over the two days, for some laid back golf in beautiful weather. Josh Henley shot the hot score of 84 (11 under par), with the next lowest a tie for 89 (correct me if I'm wrong!). Sandee, Philip Belt's mom, grilled up the chicken and sausage, and along with Lillian, put together quite a feast for the participants. We were able to raise close to $1000 to help out the Pederson family in their time of need.

I'm very grateful to you guys who stepped up and supported this cause, many of whom contributed even though they could't make the fundraiser and had never met George. As I was expressing my appreciation of the local golfers to a group of players yesterday, one of the guys said, "hey, that's just how we roll". I agree...good on you guys, and thank you for supporting this cause.

I'm very sorry to report that George died last night at the Grady Burn center, from complications related to his severe burns and injuries from the crash. I had never gotten to know him like I should have, and I know most of you never met him at all, but he was a very nice guy, always very pleasant, and interested in what was going on at Flyboy. Months before the accident, I had given him a Flyboy CFR disc and he expressed interest in learning to throw...I never got around to teaching him.

Life's short and fragile guys. Whatever it is you want to do in your life....better get after it!

I want to thank everyone again who supported George's fundraiser. I think that shows what the disc golf "community" is made of. George's wife Pam was so appreciative when I gave her the money we raised and will probably now use it to help out with funeral expenses.

That's too bad about George - sorry to hear that.

I still have what was promised to you and will give it to you or Orman when I see either of you.

Hopefully I'll have cash coming in again shortly (it hasn't been a fun 8 weeks) and I'll be able to be as helpful as I used to be before AUG 15th.
