Sorry - had to poke the guy at the switch - he forgets that LR is a different animal than the other GSSS Events.

33 minutes gone - 36 Spots sold - ONLY 14 Spots Left!

Keep in mind that I will not see who has signed up until MONDAY when I go to work, and please don't expect me to upload the list until next TUES night at the earliest as I will not get the spreadsheet with the names on it until MON night / TUES Morning.

Sold out in less than 12 hours!

i'll know exactly how many hours, who was first and who got the last spot on Monday.

There will be a waitlist set up as there was for the last 2 years which will have your $25 applied to the cost of the Division you are playing in if and when you are taken from the waitlist. If you sign up for the waitlist, your credit card will NOT BE charged for the remainder until you are confirmed that you would be getting in off the waitlist, and you agree that you still wish to have the spot.

The last 2 years have seen over 10 people get in from the waitlist and the Event has not ever had 72 players when we teed off, so if you wish to have a chance to play and you did not get in last night, please signup starting on MONDAY when the page is set up.

Thanks again to all of you who did sign up, and keep your hopes up to get in off the waitlist (for those of you who missed out).

More info will follow, so keep checking back here for the latest,
Keith

I will be doing my annual Cheesecake throw off on #11 again this year. I am looking for a worthy cause to donate the proceeds. My ideas are the GDGO or Perkerson Park. Any other? If anyone wants to donate other items to sweeten the pot (and increase the $ amount raised) please pm me.
As of right now its $2 for a chance to win a 1/4 of a pumpkin cheesecake during the two rounds on Saturday. The 4 closest to the pin win.

Thanks to CHOP for being the only Individual Event Sponsor so far!

I have not bugged anyone about individual Event Sponsorship for any of the Events this year as I know times are tough for everyone - but it is unfortunately now time to do so as for the finale there is usually 10-15 Individual hole sponsorships which goes a long way towards making up for the shortfall during the first five Series incidental fees, printing increases, paint, string, tape, etc. that gets used throughout the Series.
In the past 3 years each Individual Event usually had 5-7 Sponsors and Lake Russell had 10-15.
This year has seen only 8 TOTAL individual sponsorships in the first 5 Events plus not many CFR's have sold - about 5 in the last 2 Events - making things even more difficult.

I base the payouts and added cash for each of the 6 Events on a projected budget based on past histories sponsorships and CFR sales - but this year will have used up all 6 Events projected funds after Event 5 - leaving me needing you all to help out in any way you can so I can continue to payout as the other 22 have been paid out at 150-180% on average across all divisions and NOT at C-tier levels of 85%.

So I will bug you loyal Lake Russell and sometime GSSS patrons to do what you can.

Thanks for the quick sellout, and in advance for any help provided,
Keith

Keith,

pls put me down for hole 18 and it will be dedicated to my son and his unit that is in afganistan right now. I will do a ctp on that hole for each round, breaking down/grouping divisions for each of the 3 rounds to make it fair. Entry will be items of comfort for our soldiers and will post a list of things they can use. I hope that we can collect enough stuff to make them know that they are appreciated. Letters count too!

Sound good?

Waitlist signup is available and there are only 16 spots total with 3 being taken already leaving ONLY 13 LEFT!
Signup here: http://www.pdgasignup.com/Qstore/Qstore ... 1311618552

First person signed up for the Main Event - The LADY GAGA Fan - Andrew Lofstrand
Last lucky one 12 hours later to sell it out - Rob Case

Thanks to Everyone who is adding a Hole sponsorship For Lake Russell!
As of this post time (9:40 PM) Holes 1,2,3,6,10, 11, and 18 are taken with Vern Williams and Dale Hatcher still needing to let me know which ones they want.
If you see a hole you would like to sponsor from the remaining 9 Holes, please PM me with the Hole number and if you want T-Sign only($25) or T-Sign and CFR Disc ($35)

I also left off Prandy yesterday - sorry!

I can always count on the old school golfers for sponsorships at Lake Russell - as EVERY year the majority of the Hole Sponsorships have come from the old guard of the ATL area Disc Golf scene - and for that I'm grateful!

Keep checking back for more info!

No one - If I was holding spots, I would have offered them up BEFORE HAND - and since the Event has NEVER gone off full and 10+ people get in off the waitlist every year - I don't need to hold spots. I have everything on the spreadsheet and others in all 6 Events have dropped - when the people on the waitlist are settled I'll worry about it - You don't need to worry about the names, by the end of the week or AFTER Event #5 this weekend - I'll upload the list - I'm focusing on #5 in 4 days at the moment.

Pop for sure should be able to - you moving will depend on the next rating update - since you are only 1 point below the threshold at the moment as you already know.

Lol yea but my rating won't move as i haven't played in any events.... I have only played one tournament this year (my ice bowl) and i'm playing MAYBE twice a month so i'm not sure i can compete in open. Plus the open field is small, and i would rather play against all my Augusta friends in advanced. I kinda wish i was masters age for this one, all yall hiding out down there

From the thread title that says Sept 10-11th I would guess it is a two day event.
Fart, it's never not funny!

I don't think I would consider that a "newby" question. That would actually be considered a "barney" question. 8)

All - I will be sponsoring hole 18 during the tourney. Each round there will be a ctp for different groups. Buy-in is to donate something off the below list (or donate multiple items). These are items that the soldiers need, fighting in Afghanistan. My son Adam is attached to the 172nd Infantry Brigade and they are at a Combat Operation Base 20 miles from the Pakistani boarder living in insane conditions. Its very hot, windy, and dusty right now so please donate and get in on these ctp's.

Adam Ryan Voss
C CO TF 1-2 IN
JCOP Comanche
APO AE 09310

Protein bars or protein powder (individually wrapped protein power is preferred)
Dip, loose or pouches (Grizzly, Skoal, Skoal long Cut (all wintergreen))
Gatorade packets
Animal Pak mulit-vitamins
Magazine subscriptions (time, newsweek, inked, the economist, mens fitness, tattoo magazines)
Tuna meals (with crackers)
Batteries (AA or AAA)
Baby wipes
Candy for afghan kids
Dog treats (soooooo many homeless dogs follow us around on patrol)
Flea collars for dogs (but we use them in sleeping bags)
Cigarettes (american spirits, camel blue)
Insect repellent
Sunscreen
Bandannas (to wipe sweat and dirt)
5 hour energy shots
Air freshers
DVDs (movies or TV shows)
Calling cards (for cellphones or land lines, Skype credit is also welcome)
Instant coffee
Bottles Camelbak makes good ones but anything works (you would be surprised how many needs and uses for bottles are)
Hand held fans or small solar or electrical fans for the room
Dried fruit
Trail mix
Hot weather boot socks (green, black, brown, or tan)
Under Armour headgear/undershirts (size medium color tan)
Zip lock bags (medium and large)

If you get to the tourney and forgot (imagine that :) you can get in with a $5 donation and I will purchase items with that money to send off.

Thanks in advance and please pass on to others that might just like to donate. Lets show our warriors what Disc Golfers can do for them them while the are in hellish conditions.

Peace! Jay

Please also keep in mind to bring things from the list above and money for the side action CTP's that CHOP and Jay Voss are running.

CHUCK FOR THE CHEESEECAKETM will benefit Perkerson Park this year.
John Ritger has donated some schwag to be added to the 1/4 of cheesecake you can win!
Cost will be $3 for Hole #11 CTP.
For the uninitiated: The 4 closest to the pin during Saturday's 2 rounds will win 1/4 of Chop's Pumpkin Cheesecake (testimonials to its delectability are available upon request) PLUS you will be able to choose an item from the stuff that John has donated.
In the past we have raised from $70-$90 each year for worthy causes such as J Warner Course, The Monty and Cliff's Cancer Relief.

Even if you don't like cheesecake get in on the action as the cake can be used as a commodity with other golfers!

Hey Keith, put me on the waiting wait list. Now that we're within a month of the tournament, I have determined that it would be possible to play. No need to go on a rant about wait-this, wait-that. I'm well aware of your rules. If by some miracle a spot becomes available, I would love to have it.

It looks as though the Disc Caddie Lake Russell Mansion (a Dollar thumber away from the park entrance) may have a 2 bed (2 "spots") room available. It's $60 per person for the entire weekend which includes non-alcoholic drinks (Water & Gatorade). It's a 3 bedroom house with satellite tv and a really huge swimming pool in the back yard! I'm bringing my Primo so we'll have two grills on site...

Regretably, many of us have this nasty habit of only reading 12 posts back. A carpal tunnel thing, I guess.

Always happy to cause you to be of assistance.

That's the MAIN reason I always put all relevant info in the top /first post - because inside the thread it can get lost, but in the top /first post anytime someone looks at the thread it is the first thing seen - It's been that way from the beginning of the Series pretty much( this weekends Event is #24 in the Series!) , so in the future you can always check there first from now on.

I'm hoping my cheese puff pictures don't show up online...

Sorry Craig and Crew...

Lake Russell violations must be posted in hopes of all learning their lesson! An image such as this is the "warning".

Next year it isn't just a picture as you sleep soundly...

Results - http://www.pdga.com/tournament_results/62433

Ignore the ratings and par # for the groups with final 9 scores - it has them sorted as if it was a full round and not 9 holes - It will be corrected in official ratings when they are processed by the PDGA. Rounds under 13 holes do NOT get official ratings.

All other scores and all 3 regular rounds ratings are correct.

More later.

News and notes from a great weekend at Lake Russell!

First off thanks to everyone for showing up - except Richard Petty whose father in-law had a serious health issue [he's doing better as of SUN afternoon according to Marcus Henderson] - and Brad Hammock who was up there hoping to get in filled his spot thereby making the 12th Annual Lake Russell Open and the 4th GSSS Event there a first time full field of 72 at tee off!!

Second HUGE THANKS to Brett Porter for his help with scoring and payouts, and to Scott Prandy who when he heard that there was only 1 hole not sponsored, gave me $25 to sponsor it even though he would not get a sign. I acknowledged his generousity at the SAT players meeting and the crowd thanked him profusely for his support.

Stephen Trello got an ace on Hole 7 in the 2nd round and with no one else getting one, Stephen pocketed the 171 dollar Ace fund.

Brad Hammock shot a course Event record (don't know if it is overall course record) 42 rated unofficially at 1073 in the first round, but Josh Childs steady play earned him a 3 stroke lead going into the final 9 where he emerged with a 7 stroke victory earning $275.

Jim Corder shot a blistering 46 (1024 rated second best round of the day behind Josh) on Sunday to pull away in Pro Masters

Jason O'Herron came from 1 stroke down going into the final 9 to take a 3 stroke victory over Stephen Trello

Tommac Garrett won in a 2 hole playoff over Chad Rickel in ADV MASTERS

Darren Schatz wins his FIRST PDGA Event in INT with a 4 stroke win over Nathan Corder and Craig Hughes

David Corder form TX comes to town and takes the REC crown by 3 over Dale Hatcher

Jeremy O'Shields name was pulled from the 30 raffle tickets by Tim's significant other Courtney (hope that's spelled right) to win the basket raffle and he jumped about 5 feet off the ground and could be heard all throughout the park when his named was called.

Jay Voss raised quite a bit of money plus collected items for his son's Infantry Brigade in Afghanistan, and Chop raised around 150 bucks for "theP" with the Cheescake shootut for which for the second year I missed out on for Dawn after getting it for her the first 2 years.

Tim Ellis and Steve Nelson also had Happy Birthday sang to them by all the players SUN morning before teeing off during the 7th players meeting of the Event.

It was good to see Woody again (seriously) and others that I don't get to see but once a year at the Lake Russell Event.

Next - I would like to thank Greg Campbell, Gerrit Van Vranken and Bob Johnson for their assistance in helping me find employment so I can hopefully continue to give all of you that play a chance to be a part of the GSSS in 2012 and beyond!

Lastly, the Bonus GSSS Event at the North Georgia Canopy Tours Course on OCT 15th and 16th is on sale now here: http://www.pdgasignup.com/Qstore/Qstore ... 1304013939

PLEASE HELP ME show the powers that be there that Disc Golfers will support a thier course. You can camp or stay in an airconditioned full electric TeePee while you enjoy the changing leaves and fall colors of the north Georgia mountains.

Thanks Keith et al for running a great event and for everyone who stayed on site making the time between enjoyable.

And for the record, I only jumped 2.5 feet. If I could jump higher than that, i'da been a baller.

I'm sorry I can't make the Lula tournament, but it's my anniversary and I'd like to have another one.

Sign her up too, and you guys can then take a Zipline tour after the round before settling into the TeePee for 2 with electricity so you can turn the lights down low.....

and get some sleep so you don't miss Sundays round!
