I can, of course, only give my opinion.

These are in no specific order, but they do reflect the fun I've had at these tournaments.

Monty Dubs Halftime at the Lakehouse! Party Friday and Saturday! Companionship and doubles!

Fright Flight (Monty Dubs unashamedly copies the format of this tournament b/c I liked it so much)

Lake Russell Open Kinda the same stuff as Monty Dubs with a different location.

Fish N Pig Classic (Comon! An original that starts at 3, plays on the edge of the lake, and at halftime, you go to drink beer and eat food at a sweet lakeside restaurant!)

Black Hole Bowl (ok, ok, I ran this, and we don't do it any more, but if you ever came to one, you had a great time, especially during Drunken Matched Doubles--Skins. Had them at Redan and Lake Russell in '99 and 2000. Anyone to back me up?)

PPIC because it's Grease's baby

Atlanta Open I list this because of the folks that come to it.

Augusta Classic----Loved it back in '01, don't know anymore...

That's my opinion.

Lake Russel might take the #1 position but I know of one tournament that probably won't be on the list for the first time in 15 years!
Johnson! Keep an eye on that Kherplakistan situation...

Lets focus on the GREAT tournaments:

Not necessarily in any order and realize I haven't played in many tourneys myself but I would say...

HOTLANTA...loved the REDAN/JP Moseley combo but I'm sure their are many who prefer the FLYBOY/Moseley combo
ATL OPEN... GREAT TOURNAMENT NO matter what courses
MEEKS MADNESS...up and down all day and I still have nightmares about HOLE 10,
CHEHAW FALL CLASSIC...great little course and the camping and park are fantastic besides how many tourneys have a beer cart?
FISH N PIG MOONLIGHT CLASSIC...of course I'm partial but I've yet to see any one else in the state break out a keg and glow sticks for round in the moonlight. (I swear if we can get 72 players, I'll add belly dancing 8) )
COLD SNAKE...I've never been so miserably cold, played so horrible and had such a good time.
MONTY DUBS...just plain fun.
BRIAR VALLEY HORROR...love tournaments at Moseley even if they do make me start on HOLE 12 every round :x

Damn I need to play in more tournaments...but that's why I asked the question in the first place.

Love the Hotlanta Combo of JP and Fly, but since that's been consumed by the AO. Hotlanta would be ideal in a permanent Perkerson and Redan.

If we were to mention tournaments that are no longer, my top three would be Fire Ant, the Crucible, and Ridge Ferry.

No Smiths, Bauhaus!

Top Ten Current Tournaments
1. Monty Dubs-great course and Luke rules the rock and roll universe
2. Fish and Pig-go there, you'll see why
3. Atlanta Open-always support anything Rand runs
4. Fright Flight-one of the longest running tourneys in GA
5. Hotlanta0-soft spot in the heart for this one
6. Meeks Madness-cool track and D-Wiz makes me feel huge
7. PPIC(shameless self promotion)
8. Hall of Fame Classic-I dig Augusta and the courses there
9. GSSS at White Oak-2 minutes from my house
T10. Alexander Armada- fun course and good people
T10. Perkerson Ice Bowl-no pressure 'cause it's charity. Hopefully more action at the Perk when it becomes perm
Fart, it's never not funny!

Miss the Secret Squirrel tourneys. Sure they had their problems but four rounds at Redan was heaven. Monty Dubs is becoming one of my favs.

ps Redan and I have been tossing the idea of starting up something at Redan.

Agreed. And sadly I believe me and Nathanial Rushin are the only two Atlanta golfers who have made it down to this tournament. This is like a mini-Lake Russell tournament. Chehaw is a fun and fast playing course with a good mix of open and technical holes. Multiple pin positions on almost all the holes and the centipede grass is always cut low for good rollers and awesome skip shots. Even if you can't make the tourney just go for a day trip with bunch of golfers or the family. The park has plenty of amenities. http://www.parksatchehaw.org/

And my dad owns the Aamco in town, in case your transmission goes while you're there.

And Grease, I was a big Peter Murphy fan when I had Flock of Seagulls bangs and big glasses like the librarian in that Tears for Fears video, "Head Over Heels", I think.
