2nd Annual Georgia Tech Invitational

Saturday March 19, 2011 at Perkerson Park

Format is two rounds; the first round will be stroke play singles and the second will be alternate shot doubles. Both rounds will be played from the longer blue teepads. The event is open to teams of two to four current college students. Each team’s final score will be calculated by adding their two best stroke play scores and their best doubles score. (Examples: A four person team will be able to drop their two worst singles scores and their worst doubles score. A three person team will drop their one worst singles score, and then choose two of the three members to play for the team's sole doubles score. And a two person team will not be able to drop any rounds. So, teams with four players will have an edge, but colleges with a smaller pool of players who may not be able to field four players can still compete.)

Tournament Flyer

2 rounds of 18 holes:
Both rounds will be played from the longer "blue" teepads.

Entry Fees:
Early entry (Before March 4): $15 per player
Later entry (After March 4): $25 per player
Entry includes lunch in between rounds and awards for top performances.

Make checks payable to: The Disc Golf Club at Georgia Tech
Entry fees and team rosters should be sent to:
Chris Rodesney
644 Wells Street, Apt. #14
Atlanta, GA 30310

Send me a pm or an email (gatechdiscgolf@gmail.com) to let me know your entry is on the way. We will keep an updated list of participating schools on this page.

Tentative Schedule
Check-in: 9:00 - 10:00
Players Meeting: 10:00am
1st Round Tee-off: 10:15am
Lunch: 1 hour from last card (~12:30)
2nd Round Tee-off: ~1:15pm
Awards: ~4:00

If you have more than four players wishing to compete, we will allow as many players as we have room for to play. However, you must designate a four person "A team", and these four will be the only players eligible for trophies and the tournament title. All of your players will be eligible for CTPs and any other contests, and will still get to play two rounds on a great course.

We need good metal baskets! We've got 18 portables lined up, but if you would like to contribute a better metal basket we won't turn it away.

A couple players who go there got together and entered a team. A formal "club team" isn't required, you've just got to find a player or two who goes to the same school.

The second annual Georgia Tech Invitational is now in the books. I don't think we could have asked for better weather (or a better lunch!) Thanks again to Ritger, the Harkey's, Dem Boyz BBQ, all of our sponsors including all of the folks who bought a CFR discs, and all of the players who came to Perkerson to play some fantastic disc golf. Both rounds were par 61, and total par was 183. Here's the results:

1st - South Carolina - 183
2nd - Georgia Tech - 190
3rd - Georgia - 191
4th - Alabama - 199
5th - Kennesaw State - 200

Congrats to Georgia Tech's Chris Rodesney for shooting the hot singles round (60), and South Carolina's Alan Kane and Mike Buck for shooting the hot (alternate shot) doubles round of 61. Also congrats to Tech's Anthony Woei-a-sack and Georgia's Nick Evans for winning the CTPs, and Bama's Conor Bentley for the longest putt on hole 7.
