I'm sorry that I don't have all of the info yet to be able to post it, be I will definately post all the entries received by tomorrow evening. With the new year, there were lots of people signing up for their PDGA renewals which kept me running those all day - and with the Event being 40 days away, 1 more day to wait shouldn't kill anyone for this Event.
Besides if you signed up you know you are in.

By the way there are ONLY 13 SPOTS LEFT! So don't wait much longer if you want to get on the first Wills Event in several years.

Thanks to everyone who has signed up already and I'll get the names posted as soon as possible tomorrow.

Keith, do you have information on the course layout to be played by each division. I am planning my first trip to Wills to check out the new course on Saturday. Looking forward to a great 2011 GSSS!

Dale, I am sure Keith will fill in all the blanks but there is only 1 alt tee and it is on 1. I imagine everyone will be using the long, if not everyone but rec maybe?

There are some alt pins but you don't really have control over which you play.

There are only 2 tee pad differences for the REC men and Intermediate women divisions - Hole 1 will play from the REC Concrete pad and Hole 14 will have flags just beyond the leaning tree the other divisions have to throw over from the concrete tee (this was going to be the original tee except we could not pour concrete within 25 feet of the creek).

The other 16 holes will be the same concrete tee pads for everyone.

As it gets closer, I will posrt the Hole by Hole descriptions as I always do.

12 (on the slope past the Magnolia tree) and 13 (100 feet futher back and slightly left) will be in the Alternate postions for the Event if you wish to practice them before they move at the beginning of Feb.

Ok It's tomorrow - so here are some fun facts!

1 ) FIRST ENTRY on New Years Day - and my favorite helper is now playing PRO!
2) 5 ladies signed up with Rachel no longer having to be the only female as she usually is.
3) First Event at Wills in over 7 years takes less than 5 days to sell out!
4) 10+ first time GSSS players - will they know the answer?
5) Keeping it all in the family - almost 25% of the players are - there are 3 father/son, 2 sets of brothers, and 3 significant other pairs who are playing - which is the most ever at any GSSS event to date.

6) Not so much to do with the signups, but maybe it does since the all 6 Events only sold 9 spots this year - so it could have been the main factor in low turnout - who knows?
A not so fun fact - First time in 6 years I won't be running a PDGA Sanctioned Event at my favorite ATL area permanent course (from the variety of designing options standpoint) and most everyone elses least favorite (for lots of different reasons depending on the player- it was either too long, too short, too hot, too many trees, not enough trees, too many open holes, too much OB, too much water, etc. )

That surprises you?

There are some playing - but most have other obligations now - alot don't even play doubles anymore compared to when I first moved here.

The main thing is that we have the top Wills dog playing.

You got me there. After my last few tournies, I decided to lay off for awhile until I've gotten more practice in and feel better about my game. Best of luck with the 1st GSSSS. I'm sure it will run smooth as silk. BTW, who's the top Will's dog? Forrest?

I have the NEWEST First Run Star Stamped Innova driver - the Star Vulcan - in all weight ranges from 160-175 available for sale - there are only 25 total - with 4 in 160-164, 5 in 165-169, 8 in 170-172 and 8 in 173+.

They are $18 each or 2 for $33 and as usual for the first run Star Discs I get - first come first served - order by PM, email or phone me to get your choices and I will update the remaining discs as they are sold. They can be picked up at the first GSSS Event or by meeting me at Wills on any Monday-Friday with advance notice.

I also have only 8 of the the NEWEST First Run Star Stamped Innova midrange/putter the Star Wedge.
They are $18 each or 2 for $33 with 4 in 165-169 and 4 in 173+ that will be shipped to me on Jan 18th, so they can also be picked up at the first GSSS Event or by meeting me at Wills on any Monday-Friday with advance notice.

These will go QUICK, so don't delay!

Just played Wills on Sunday for the first time in a couple of years. I have to say WOW! Great job in reshaping the course, new baskets, killer crete pads, bridges, etc. A fantastic job by all, can't wait for GSSS #1. Wills is now on the heavy rotation list (Central Park, ERP, and Wills).

Thanks,

All 4 160-164 Star Vulcans are gone.

These discs are selling for $24.95 and higher with the first run stamps on online stores that have them.

ONLY 21 LEFT - buy 2 and they are only 50 cents more each than stock stamped Star discs!

5) Keeping it all in the family - almost 25% of the players are - there are 3 father/son, 2 sets of brothers, and 3 significant other pairs who are playing - which is the most ever at any GSSS event to date.

3 sets of brothers Nathan and Alan just have different last names.

Only 19 Star stamped first run Vulcans left - 3 left in the 165-169 weight range, 8 in 170-172 and 8 in 173-175.

These are First run Star Stamped Vulcans for just pennies over stock Star prices.

Hey Keith, will the creek OBs be defined at the top of the bank or at the water?

Also on 9 is the little run off to the right of the basket going to be casual or OB?

Just curious because we had some close calls this weekend and I really want to be accurate in my scoring so I can judge how I'm doing.

Thanks.

I will post the hole by hole descriptions later this month, but for "general" purposes, water and beyond in all creeks will be ob with lines that will be clearly marked where water crosses in front, back and to sides of baskets (as in 2, 9,11, 13). The tops of the creeks will be marked where creek directions change, but on all parallel to the fairway creeks it will be water and beyond. The wash "channels" that do not contain water unless it is raining will not be OB.

Any discs beyond the path will be OB, the path itself will be IB, giving you another 10 feet of fairway to work with.

I'm hoping the rain and crappy weather ends soon so that I will be able to use the slope position on 12 as I'm planning and the rest of the work to fine tune the course can be accomplished.

Again this is subject to change depending on weather and what the park can get done in terms of getting fairway 13 levelled and filled with dirt as well as getting the mulch down on several of the fairways, both in and out of the woods that were already supposed to have been done before the end of last year - that keep getting pushed back because of weather issues. :(

All hole descriptions for the Event will be on www.supersixseries.com and in the top post as it gets closer to the date.

If you know someone on this list who does not frequent the message board, please let them know.

FWIW, there was a crew out today cutting down some of the larger dead trees along the fairway for 11 -- holes 10 and 11 were closed. They also seemed to be cutting up some of the downed trees that were leaning across the fairway. Didn't go back out after the round to see what had been done, but if you've played Wills recently you should expect 11 to look at least a little different from the last few weeks.

I second Dollar's comment - Wondered when someone was going to broach the subject - 14 is a total crapshoot. OB+crapshoot=shule.... 11 is kind of a neat hole - but definitely suspect with OB.

I really wanted to play this tourney, but my daughter's last BB game is that Saturday. Have fun negotiating the OB...I don't envy that...

It's not on hole 11 so it will probably be there for years.

At least the ones falling on hole 11 are making the easiest hole on the course easier.

And the good news is that they are falling in the middle of the fairway (3 falling tree incidents in 3 weeks) and the ones by the basket that will fall soon are both leaning AWAY from the basket.

I'll look at it tomorrow and let the park know.

Great and hilarious at the same time.

You must come out to Moseley...(I demand it!)

May I request Josh Henley as my perfect round player? (Good luck on 18 Josh-but then again a Shainiac sandwich never comes easy).

Maybe a perfect round at Moseley is not possible...but a flawless one is!

2 players dropped so now we have a 3 person PRO women field - 6 women total!

And Josh Childs "should be" (haven't gotten confirmation yet) replacing the spot that Rand gave up, keeping the PRO Open guys at 10 players.

There are still 6 Silver Sponsorships (ALL 6 Events) left and 9 individual Event sponsorships remaining.
The deadline for sponsorship is MON FEB 7th at 5PM.

PLATINUM Sponsor Zanfel has sent 5 boxes of their product (which retails for $40 at Walgreens and CVS) that will be used as a CTP prize for INT WOMEN, PRO WOMEN, REC, INT, and ADV/ADV MASTER divisions at GSSS Event #1.
Zanfel Poison Ivy, Oak and Sumac Wash...
1.0 oz.
$39.99

The stuff works AFTER being exposed and can be used ANYWHERE on the body - there will be cards explaining the products usage for those who don't win this time - in case they wish to purchase it to use while playing courses in GA where Poison Ivy, Oak and Sumac are an issue.

Only 8 Star stamped first run Vulcans left - 2 in 170-172 weight range, and 6 in 173-175.

These are First run Star Stamped Vulcans for just pennies over stock Star prices.

Thanks to Tracy Lacue, Dale Hatcher, Jay Voss, Vern, Greg Pothier, Dan Moore, Daniel Marcus, Dave Douglas, Zak Kemmer, and Mike Dammes(bought 4!) for their support!

Please add Jo Taylor to the wait list. I not sure which division she would like to play in, but she has always played Pro in the past.

Representatives from the Alpharetta Visitors and Convention Bureau and the Parks Department will be on hand at the players meeting - as well as photographers from the AVCB and Patch.com who will be taking pictures - so please be aware of your behavior and actions while at the players meeting and on the course. As this is the first Event there in several years and the people who were involved in spending the money to improve the course with new baskets and concrete will be on hand - everyone will be looking to see how it is received, so if you can please thank them for their contributions to improving Wills Park.

Thanks in advance,
Keith

I already had it worked out with the construction foreman to have the fence be where it is now as when they first put it in it was on the edge of the pad all down the side and across the back 2 feet of the pad on the corner.
PLEASE DO NOT move or mess with the fencing!
It is a backhand turnover or forehand flick shot - neither which require running up form the back left corner any more than the length of the tee - it is only a 255 foot in length hole - do you really need more than a 12 foot and more than a 45 degree angle runup?

I guess If you say I do not come in from left side of the teepad with my tomi when it is tight on the right side of the hole, it must be true. What is a backhand turnover or forehand flick shot?

These terms can be found in a book called "pimping 101", look in the index under "pimp slap styles/methods". 8)

Thanks Keith for a great event, we had a blast.

Sorry we had to bag before awards ended, I hate doing that but even leaving early we missed the first 10 minutes of the first period of the hockey game.

Thank you for your awesome generosity with sponsoring the women, I am sure you will see most of them at most of the GSSS events and hopefully a few more.

Oh BTW, before the next tournament I am going to come out the night before and saran wrap the creek. :D

Any clue why rec ratings didn't generate both rounds, I thought we had enough propagators to be able to get them.

Also what happened to the guy that should've been in 8th with 119 strokes?

Thanks for the great time and all the hard work on the course!

Hit 9 intstead of 4 - now fixed - REC will have ratings when they are officially done - not enough "Gators" had the rating minimum before playing Wills.

With an hour of anger and a handsaw after doubles at Central, Courtney's Alley was created on Hole 13 between 5PM and 6PM this afternoon.

Hopefully she will come out again sometime soon and let me know what she thinks!

Hey Keith, sorry to keep bugging you. My score is still not corrected. I think you may have me confused w/ Scott Rich. I am David Rich and I shot the 119, w/ a 65 in round 1 and a 54 in round two. I got eighth place. Thanks!

Now it's fixed, but the pdga website won't show the ratings - scores are correct and I'll talk to Gentry in the AM to see what's up.
