Great job, Chop. 16 people for a first season seems great. Hopefully I'll be on a different schedule by the time season 2 rolls around.

Great job Chop. Yes, I had a great time. Still can't believe I've got numero uno. I'll savor it while it lasts!

I've heard nothing but good comments. I've invited a few more folks for next week. Hope they show up. Keep up the good work. You are the Jedi Master.

If they can sign up before Thursday it'll be easier to start play, but I will take all comers this week and next. I will be picking up the stuff Ronnie has for the freebie CTP schwag on Tuesday.

Mikey, It is fitting that you get the #1 tag for all you've done at Lenora!

Thanks Steve.
Handicaps for next week:
Ladies
#1 Kari (-13)
#2 Vicki (-9.3)
#3 Christy (-9.5)
#4 Tracy (-16.8 )*

Mens
#1 Josh (+6.5)
#2 CHOP (+5.5)
#3 Ed (+4.8 )
#4 Mark (+1)
#5 Steve (+1.7)
#6 Shane (-2.5)
#7 Brad (-2)
#8 Grant (-9.7)
#9 Scott (-3.3)
#10 Dale (-2.3)
#11 Mick (-6)
#12 Michael (-14.3)*
#13 Glen (-15.8 )*
#14 Wally (-12.3)
#15 Mikey (+4)
The handicaps were rounded to the nearest tenth.

* These scores were adjusted because they fell out of the range of scores by more than the standard deviation. if you would like a more detailed explanation I'll bring my graphing calculator and show you the math. The adjustments were less than 2 strokes by the way.

Just a suggestion but why not adjust the women just based on the women? That way you don't have to worry about such a huge swing.

Unless you are doing something for overall lowest adjusted score...then carry on!

The women are adjusted to their scores only, otherwise almost all of their scores would fall out the range. The ladies also play the course as a par 56.

Oh ok, I see how you are doing it...you adjust to par.

I was thinking take the top, or in this case top 2 since Christy & Vicki are within a couple percent and make them 0, make Kari -2 or something and so forth...average to the average score not par.

I get it now...carry on. :D

Have readjusted the handicaps due to some mathematical errors. You can thank my 10 and 8 year olds dilligence in their math skills!

Ladies
#1 Kari was(-13) now (-12 )
#2 Vicki (-9.3)
#3 Christy was(-9.5) now (-10.5 )
#4 Tracy was(-16.8 ) now (-16.5 )

Mens
#1 Josh (+6.5)
#2 CHOP (+5.5)
#3 Ed was(+4.8 ) now(+4.5 )
#4 Mark (+1)
#5 Steve (+1.7)
#6 Shane was(-2.5) now(-2.8 )
#7 Brad was(-2) now (-1.8 )
#8 Grant was(-9.7) now(-8.7 )
#9 Scott was(-3.3) now(-3.5 )
#10 Dale was(-2.3) now(-3.3 )
#11 Mick (-6)
#12 Michael was(-14.3) now (-14)
#13 Glen was(-15.8 ) now(- 16.5)
#14 Wally was(-12.3) now(-11.8 )
#15 Mikey (+4)
The handicaps were rounded to the nearest tenth.

Remember on hole #2, we are playing Pro pad to woods basket for the men and the ladies will play from the regular tee to the woods basket. There will be a second shot CTP on that hole for a shirt. See you all around 6!

One time thing.... this season! I'm hoping to compile enough data for a handicap league next year. The more people we get to play the more rounds I can compile and get a more accurate and fair handicap.

Modified course is approved. We will play:
Long #2 pad to the traditional pin.
#3 pad to #4 pin.
#5 pad to the woods pin position.
There will be a temporary hole after #8 into the woods across the path. There will be a long and short pad for this hole.
Mando on #13 to the left of the marked tree. Missing the mando will require a stroke penalty and throwing from the drop
zone.

On another note: The finals shall be played on June 3rd as a match play style tournament. If all participants show the #1 tag will get a bye for the first round and #2 will play #15, #3 will play #14 and so on. they will be bracketed with #'s 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 15 on one side and #'s 1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 12, 14 on the other. In the second round #1 will play the #8-#9 winner and all other brackets will follow their courses. I'll bring an example Thursday to illustrate the point. Vicki and Christy (since Kari and Tracy are, unfortunately, going to have to miss it) are welcome to play either match style or a full round for the #'s 1 and 2. All head to head matches will be the first to win 6 holes moves on. Since there are some time restraints these matches might have to have a time frame too. 40 minutes for four rounds puts us finishing at 8:40 cutting it close on sunlight. I might reduce the ammount of holes needed to win to 5 in the later rounds to speed up play. Any input would be graciously accepted. Thanks and see you Thursday for NOONAN!!!!

Noonan Rules was a good way to finish up, hope everyone enjoyed working their cardmates! I know it cost me at least one birdie  The ladies essentially finished their season as only Christy can make it next week, and she will finish #1 for season one! She will defend it next season, what other lady is going to step up and take it from her? Weather was great, still no wind to speak of which made it seem hotter than it was. Played the alternate course with Brad carding the only 2 on pad #3 to #4 basket, and Steve the only 2 on Alt #9 ($CTP too!). Sorry about the poison ivy there  NO aces so the "Make It to take It" is on in between match play rounds next week. It stands at $64!

Results:
Ladies
#1 Kari- 64
#2 Christy- 67 (held lower #) (CTP #1 T-bird)
#3 Vicki- 67
#4 Tracy- 73

Mens
#1 Josh- 48
#2 Steve- 50 ($CTP #9 alt)
#3 Ed- 51 (held lower #)
#4 CHOP- 51 (held lower #)
#5 Mikey- 51 (CTP #1 Shirt)
#6 Brad- 53
#7 Scott- 57 (held lower #)
#8 Mark- 57 (held lower #)
#9 Dale- 57
#10 Wally- NS
#11 Grant- NS
#12 Shane- 59
#13 Michael- NS
#14 Mick- NS
#15 Glen- 67

Next week is match play final. Shooting for a 5:45 START TIME! Please try to get there as early as possible and if you're unable to make it inform me by PM as it will cut down organization time and we'll have more time for golf. I will post the bracket and matchplay rules later. Had two re-ups and a new sign-up (thanks Dusty!) for the summer league. You in yet Randy???? Anyone else.....

#1 will have a bye the first round and there will be grudge matches between eliminated players going on so she will certainly have an opportunity to play. I will redo the handicaps and maybe they can play that format?

Just give her the last place tag and let her try to get a better one...she doesn't care, no need to make concessions.

Great times !!! Noonan action was fun! I even got to work other folks in groups across the course  (sorry about that guys!)

I'll be signing up for next season too! Expect money next week Chop

Anyone who wants to play, should!! It's fun when there's nothing on the line except a piece of plastic (tag).

If you normally golf on Thursdays or can get off work early enough.... You need to get over there and sign up!!

Not making concessions Bill, she's good enough to beat some of the guys out there! I can always add her to the bracket to make an even 16 if she wants to play it that way too.

And apparently Mother Nature has reserved the hottest day of the week for league night.

Christy has had a ball and between this and the clinics has improved drastically going a couple strokes better here and has even thrown a 58 at Alex now...totally worth it.

Final week of the Spring Season!!
5:45 START TIME!!
Match play
Group A ------------------------------ Group B
#15 plays #2-------- ----------#14 plays #3

#13 plays #4-------- ----------#12 plays #5

#11 plays #6-------- ----------#10 plays #7

#9 plays #8--------- -----------#1 BYE

Group A winner will play Group B winner for the #1and #2 tags and plaques.
1st Runner ups in each group will play for #3 tag and plaque.

Course will be closed for league play so we should have no slow downs. If you are eliminated you will still be able to play more golf, but please yield to active matches. The first player to win 5 holes advances. There will be a 40 minute time frame to each round to complete all 4 rounds before dark. To speed up play players may concede holes when they have no longer a chance to win a hole. If a player has yet to win 5 holes at the end of 40mins the player with he most holes won will advance. If you are tied the next hole winner will move on. I would suggest a safari hole back in the direction to hole #1, one of the advantages of Lenora! While in between rounds we will start the "Make it to Take it" ace throw off. Everybody is vested so there's still a chance to walk away with some ($64) cash! If you cannot make this please tell me as soon as you can so I can adjust the brackets accordingly. Hope to see everyone there for the finish of the first fun season of many at Gwinnett County Parks.

For those of you who left before the final 9. Josh takes #1 with 4 1/2 skins, Steve takes #2 with 4 skins (I'll let him tell you the story!) and Ed takes #3 with a 1/2 skin. Thanks to all those who came last night and for making the first season a success. I'll post the final results later.

Finale Week! Once again great weather! The wind finally shows up and it was a relief from the heat. By far the best thing I did the whole season was getting the weather to cooperate. The trophies looked great and I'm PO'ed I didn't get to take one home. Sorry for all the confusion at the start, I guess I shouldn't plan so much!?!
Results:
Round 1
#1 Josh vs #15 Glen Josh 5 def Glen 0 8 holes
#2 Steve vs #13 Michael Steve 5 def Michael 0 7 holes
#3 Ed vs #12 Shane Ed 3 def Shane 1 13 holes?
#4 Chop vs #9 Dale Chop 5 def Dale 0 8 holes
#5 Mikey vs #8 Mark Mikey 3 def Mark 1 10 holes
#6 Brad vs #7 Scott Brad 2 def Scott 1 13 holes

Round 2
#1 Josh vs #5 Mikey Josh 3 def Mikey 1 6 holes?
#2 Steve vs #6 Brad Steve 2 def Brad 0 7 holes
#3 Ed vs #4 Chop Ed 2 def Chop 1 10 holes

Finals- 9 holes skins match
#1 Josh 4 1/2 skins
#2 Steve 4 skins
#3 Ed 1/2 skin

The ladies played last week and Chirsty was #1 with Kari taking #2. I wish I would have said it last week, but it was great having 4 ladies on the course every week! I hope you'll return for future seasons!

Next season starts June 10th so get your entries in now and don't miss a round! You'll still be able to sign up til the 24th but hurry so as not to miss all the action.

After many rounds of walking back and forth the Ace fund of $64 dollars was finally won by Mark Spaugh. Losing daylight we decided that it would come down to a CTP if nobody aced it and Mark comes through with one!

CHOP,

Christy is withdrawing from the league. I have issues with the organization but I am above petty conflict.

The important deal is her sun allergy is really acting up and I don't think Lenora in the summer is a good idea.

Can you email me the contact info for the county again?

Start time 6:00
If you're planning on signing up come a little earlier. I will be passing the baton on to someone else for this season, so they are responsible for the weather now. I will be there tonight to get things kicked off. So far 8 advanced 2 beginners and 1 lady. Not as good as last season but I'm sure we'll have a few more join up in the next 3 weeks before it closes HINT, HINT.....

Christy, I talked to Keith about you having to bow out for the season and the county will reimburse you by your method of payment.

Sorry I didn't post the last 2 weeks scores, I was working for a change! Here are last weeks scores with the first weeks #'s in parentheses.
2 more people signed up for a total of 14 players! This is the last week to sign up and support the league and the GDGO. If you want more of a say in county affairs, remember that they first look at the ledgerbook. Supporting this league can get our foot in the door to show the county that there is a fiscal benefit to disc golf. The GDGO appreciates all those who have supported so far will continue to make all the efforts needed to improve disc golf in Gwinnett!

Results:
Mens
#1 Dusty- 43 (2)
#2 Mark- 48 (4)
#3 Mikey- 49 (5)
#4 Josh- 50 (1)
#5 Steve- 52 (3)
#6 Ed- 52 (6)
#7 Carlos- 53 (new)
#8 Brad- 56 (7)

#11 Joe J- 63 (10)
#12 Gerry- 63 (12)
#13 Joe H- 64 (12)
#14 Tim- 72 (new)

I've got a spreadsheet set up for your handicap week coming up in week 5. Hope you guys are keeping as cool as you can be in the heat of Lenora. I'm hoping to come out and check out the new pins. Please leave any feedback on the appropriate thread.

Kind of confused as to the results this week. I got the scores but for the Handicap round but not sure what tags you have.
Steve, Ed PM me to explain the last score sheet please?

Hadicaps
Brad -.4
Dale -4.7
Mikey +2.8
Ed +3
Steve +2.1
Mark +1
Josh +7.1
Dusty +8
Kyle -3.8
Gerry -7.3
Joe H -9.5
Joe J -6.8
Tim -16.3
Carlos +1.3
Mara -21.5

The handicap is your average to par. I rounded it to the nearest tenth to prevent ties. Its still crude, but the more data I have the better. Have fun this week as anyone can be #1 with a hot round!

Don't know if Grant/ Katie signed up with you but if they did his Hcap is-5.7 and hers is -18.

No. Steve never marked it. Mikey had it marked & I parked it to take it. I personally gave the pink piece of paper used to mark it to Mikey at the parking lot while they were adding up the scores & never heard them announce paying out the CTPs. I definitely had 15. Who got hole 3?

Rain, Rain and more Rain washed out Thursday's action. Thanks to everyone for waiting, but mother nature had other plans.
This Thursday will be our last week of season 2, it will also be our playoff week. awards will be given to 1-st , 2-nd and 3-rd places . We also have to take care of our "Ace" fund which is now up to $80.00. I know Mark will be looking for another Cha Ching shot like the one on hole 5 of the 1-st season. Go Mark!
We have alot to do this thursday. I will be arriving just before 5:00pm, if everyone can get there a little early we should have enough time to finish the playoff's and the Ace run. the GDGO has had a great time assisting Chop and GCPR this summer and am looking forward to an amazing season 3 which will begin the follwoing Thursday.
Thanks again to everyone for participating, it has been great getting to know the new players, as well as seeing some faces I have not seen in a while. See you all Thursday, and lets hope for sunny skies.

how about a round of golf with options of ctp's ? Maybe have 5 holes that are worth a buck ($5 total), and folks can choose if they want in on all, some, or none ?

You don't have to buy-in on the ctp's to play

The GCPR sign-up only has the "Men over 18" categories available. Is there a place for my 12 year old daughter?

Not yet, this first year was to get disc golf off the ground and into the mainstream of GCP&R activities. After the last season is done in September I'll be going back and discussing the next phase. I hope it will include the league we have now turning into a true handicap league that uses both Gwinnett courses, a summer team league and weekend juniors events. I didn't want to spread it too thin the first year and have only minimal support for a lot of activities. Hence we went with the tag league for adults. We've had close to 20 people sign up for each season just at Lenora. With expanding it to Alexander next year I believe it should double in size. The county wants to get kids involved but needs to see that there is a market for it. I have a 10, 8, and two 6 yr olds that play with me on and I would like to get them into playing with kids their own age, so I am going to push for something that will cater to kids. I hope she understands and wont cry for too long :(

Sounds like a good plan. There are plenty of Juniors playing Alexander. Should be big once you tap into that pool,

In the meantime, there's the Monthly Juniors event and I'll just skip the league again this season (bummer) and bring Emily out instead.

Ed J. +2.7
Steve A. +1.7

Chop, i'm not understanding how if I've had the low score each week, with kari and I missing one week each and dana missing 2, how i don't have the -11 instead of the -14. was there just a mix up? i had 66,66,64; kari had 71,67,67; and dana had 72,72. could you double check this for me or maybe i just need a handicap lesson. :)

thanks, tracy

Tracy this is a cumulative handicap which has your results from season 1 also. Yours has dropped 2.8 strokes from last season! Hope that helps.

Further clarification for you and others: The more scores I use the more accurate the handicap is. I have been keeping track of the scores for the 3 seasons and I am busy compiling a data base that will be useful for next years leagues. With the county's permission, next year there will be a pure handicap league in the spring and fall where the handicap will be based on a group average modifier (GAM) as opposed to the average to par system we're using now. Using a GAM will make it more competitive by grouping like players together and having less people relying on a big (-) handicap or overcoming (+) one. I will post a detailed report after the seasons over for the group.

CHOP - thanks for preparing the handicaps again. I have really been enjoying the league play and am sad that it is about to end in a couple of weeks. Any chance that the league can continue through the winter months? I know that we will run out of daylight for playing in the evenings, but what about league play on either a Saturday or Sunday?

As far as sanctioned by the county maybe in November. I'm sure if there were people to play the county would gladly take their $. I have yet to set up the meeting to discuss next year with Ronnie and Keith, but I will bring it up with them when I do. Glad you enjoyed the league and thank you for supporting all 3 seasons!

The Fall Season finished up last night in an exciting fashion, but before I report the scores I'd like to thank all the people who came out to support the league this year. Steve and Ed are first for not only playing each season but stepping up and running one too! Thanks also goes to the other players who played all 3 seasons: Brad, Dale, Mark and Mikey. We had 7 different ladies sign up with Kari and Tracy playing 2 seasons each! I'm shooting for getting at least 2 foursomes of ladies each season next year so get your wives and girlfriends interested. The ladies had a blast all 3 seasons but could use some more friendly competition. Last, but not least, I'd like to thank the county for getting this going and letting the GDGO run the action. The league put close to $300 in the GDGO coffers that will be put to good use in the future.

Lenora was back to its old windy ways for most of the night, but no rain fell during play.

Results:
Ladies: 18 holes
#1 Kari- 66
#2 Dana- 68
#3 Tracy- 74

Men: Timed Match play rounds
9 players show so highest 2 tag played a Qualifier round with Steve beating Ed 2-1

Round 1
Tag# Name Holes won
#1 Dusty 0
#8 Steve 3

#2 Mark ? won by 1
#6 Mikey ?

#3 Gerry 1
#7 Brad 3

#4 Dale 4
#5 Adam 0

Round 2 A Pool
#8 Steve 4
#4 Dale 0

#7 Brad ?
#2 Mark ? won by 1

B Pool
#1 Dusty ? Won
#9 Ed ?

3 way skins match between Gerry, Adam and Mikey with Adam winning by a skin.

Final Round Pool A
#8 Steve vs #2 Mark
With light faded and score tied played #18 as clot if not for the #1 tag. Mark puts his drive 45ft. to the right and past the pin. Steve comes up 50-60 ft. short and drains it for the win.

Pool B
#1 Dusty vs #5 Adam
Dusty defeats Adam after 4 holes.

Final Tag #'s

#1 Steve
#2 Mark
#3 Dusty
#4 Adam
#5 Brad
#6 Dale
#7 Ed
#8 Mikey
#9 Gerry
#10 Joe

After 2 rounds of "make it to take it" with no one making it, CTP on #1 decided the ace fund with Mikey taking it!

I am assuming that the decision to not have league play at Lenora Thursday 9/8 still stands?? Anyone have an update (that's not already gone to Lake Russell)??
