Being an unsanctioned affair we strongly encourage ADV players to move to pro, you could have a chance to compete against some of the top women pros! We also ask any PDGA experienced woman to move up to allow REC to be a newcomer class for women with no tournament and little playing experience.

Pre-registration is closed. You may still register with me in person @ your local courses or day of.

Sponsorship information:

I have several levels of sponsorship available. I had to pay the piper pretty well to get this venue so I would appreciate you guys stepping up like I know you will. I am also in contact with several major disc golf companies and local businesses so I do not plan on “using” just the disc golf community to fund this event.

While it is an unsanctioned event I am not treating it that way, my goal is to grow this into a TX Women’s style event (which just had 102 competitors). With that I am going after big name sponsors and attendance to hopefully lock them in for future events.
That being said, here are the sponsorship options:

Divisional Title Sponsors:

PRO sponsored by Diana Gunlock Lane & Jordan Lane
ADV sponsored by Team Gold Bond
INT sponsored by Paragon Disc Golf Apparel
REC sponsored by PGA Tour Superstore

Thanks to Sarah Stanhope for coming up with the Pro-am doubles idea, it sounds like it will be a very fun part of the tournament and will truly be a great event for bragging rights. If a non-pro team wins the trophy you know the pros will be back to get revenge!

Guys, get your ladies signed up...it will help me get sponsors and then I don't have to beg all of you for money. :D

Hello all. I'm new to the sport of disc golf and would love to play in this tournament but I have no idea how to classify myself when registering. I have been playing now for about 9 months amounting to approximately 25 rounds of singles with a group of guys I work with. I am also wondering if you have to have a PDGA number to play. Thanks! Tuck :)

Have you ever played at Roswell Park? What do you score?

You do not need a PDGA number, it is unsanctioned.

Look forward to seeing ya!

We got 2 entered and about 8 saying they are coming. Among those are Sarah Stanhope, Courtney McCoy and Rachel Conley.

Ladies, signing up in advance will help in many ways...

1) It lets Courtney know how many pack items to make
2) It shows potential sponsors we mean business
3) It keeps my hair on my head where it belongs

Guys, I would love to see some tee signs being purchased! Got some mega-cool artwork being done for the discs...they will be keepers.

I want to be clear that the $100 Diana & Jordan have put in is straight up added cash to pro.

That's right ladies, it will be the 3rd biggest womens payout in GA this year, with a few players it can be 2nd. (ATL Open is 1st, Masters is 2nd).

Sponsors will get a custom stamped Zing mini in addition to whatever Innova disc I get (most likely going to be female friendly).

Poster is up at ERP, Earlewood, Crooked Creek.

5 are entered, 10 are confirmed on facebook but not officially signed up, mostly pro and adv. women, 2 juniors are pending as well.

18 women and 18 holes sponsored (or equivalent of other sponsors) is the magic point where payout will be decent.

Hoping to easily exceed the 18 number after this weekends event.

As of right now each woman is paying $48 of their $25 entry fee to the park.

I'd love to have mixed dubs. I go by the mantra that if enough groups show interest, I'll do it. The last tournament we had 1 women's group; I'll be checking to see if the same ones will come. Plus, I've been getting Athens' notice, and I have at least one female friend there that will play.

Of course, Sunday is singles play...

Promise--no more clutter on this thread. Let me know if you're interested. I'll be drumming up other support, too.

We have a pro guest from Texas playing now travelling back from Am. champs in Charlotte. Help me out by showing her our GA hospitality with some tee signs so I can afford a good payout!!

We are at 13 paid entries, if I get the 25 I am looking to get I am still paying $9.60 a head for the park. Filling out the 11 remaining holes will pay for the park and add a disc or two to the payout.

We are 4 entries away from GA women's disc golf history, be a part of it.

If it hasn't been stated men are welcome to caddy and spectate.

If you have a kid that is old enough to throw and are thinking about playing in the tourney go ahead and bring them out. We will do a little clinic during the first round and let them play on the playground afterwards.

If you have a girl that wants to play but you don't know what to do with her for the second round...no problem, we will take care of them while you play as well and probably do another clinic.

If i can get a couple mini baskets we might even play some mini golf while ya'll are hacking through the woods.

Those with Jrs. that are playing let me try to explain the shortened tees so if you head out to practice you can try them out.

hole 4- Middle of fairway, 2nd trailer in.
hole 8- End of straight fairway, closer to 9s tee, nice narrow line and flat land there.
hole 16- Probably about 15' or so in front of fallen tree, I believe Scott had his off to the right because there is a nice little niche there but with the tree down I decided to go forward of it a bit.

Discs should be in Monday or Tuesday.

Postby billnchristy » Sat Jun 05, 2010 7:38 pm

I just worked out the CTP grid:

Everyone but Jrs. $5 buy in will get you $3 cash CTP on hole 15 and $2 ace pot. If no ace throw-off will be on hole 5 after round 2.

Free CTP quantity (not holes)

Pro: 3
Adv: 7
Int: 8
Rec: 11
Jr: 3

If no ADV play then the remaining move to int and rec.

CTP prizes range from tye dye towels and shirts courtesy of SueMac to Innova swag, to discs, minis, hats etc...

Round 2 will feature the following coolness:

Hole 5, the mini challenge. After taking your drives for doubles all players can proceed to throw a mini from a designated throw zone (each woman will have a flag with their name on it).

When the zing minis come in I will be selling 20 at $2 each, ALL proceeds will go to this competition and I will throw in $10 so winner could walk away with $50 cash.

Top 10 will also receive a Ching Juju Supreme mini in purple, teal, pink, or peach.

Hole 8- Birdie prize, any team with a 3 will receive a prize.

I'll take 5 of the zing minis bill. I'll pick them up day of. I'll be out there caddying for my usual caddie renee. I have a mini basket (fold up) I can bring if needed.

I applaud your efforts to put this together!

Vibram 2009 women's champion and regular defeater of Open men, Sarah Stanhope, is playing.

Christine Savvakis and Tabitha Simon are also entering in advanced.

That is 17 women and there are probably another 10 thinking about coming out.

This is history. You can be a part of that. :D

There are glow ones, berry and banana scented ones, sparkly ones...

I have about 25 or so I can sell.

$2 a piece. Proceeds of sales go to the mini distance competition payout & regular payout.

These things fly! Christy has already beat her innova mini driver and vibram mini distance with these.

Guys,

If you see women on the course who rock please let them know how good they are.

I talked to a girl yesterday who shoots par at Alex from the Blues and she thinks she isn't good enough to play in a tournament.

The girl could play PRO for god's sake.

2 tee signs left and a bunch of CFR...scoop 'em up guys.

19 girls in now, still know of about 4, maybe more who are going to enter.

GUYS

If you are coming to spectate or caddy I have decided to give you your own Vibram challenge...$5 for the same rules as the ladies. $3 will go into your own pot and $2 will go to the ladies.

Enter as many times as you want. Winner takes 60% of total mens only intake....no putters for you though.

Would the guy who offered these please contact me...there appears to have been a problem with the sign up, so please PM me and we can work it out. I realized after we talked that I was thinking about someone else when I thought I had recognized her name.

2 more tee signs remaining. Please fill these out. I am putting up really nice signs and I am also going to have CTP information on the sign post so the women WILL look at the signs not like usual.

Also if you can swing one of the remaining pink sponsorships please do so. There could be 30 women at this thing and I will definitely let them know about other events coming up in the area so this thing isn't just for me...if you run events you could bloody likely see at least a card of women from here out because we have 4 more that have joined/re-joined the PDGA recently.

I'm really nervous about this tourney. It's my first one officially (not in my back yard) since August of 09. Can't wait to see how Sarah plays. She's always such a pleasure to watch in the woods. She's wicked good in the woods. I'm hoping to just make it through with a respectable score and good putts.

Bill- you've done a great job so far! I am proud to play in one of many of your tourneys. Thank you for all your hard work.

ALL YOU GUYS - should come out and support the local women of disc golf and be our spectators!!! East Roswell is shaded so you have no excuse :)

Courtney I am sure you will rock just like you did with the clinic. :D

And guys, you heard the lady...come on out. It will be sweet having a gallery and guys are welcome to caddy but understand the ladies are in charge on this day. :P

Don't forget to bring your dough for the Vibram challenge too, you get to try some sweet putters and possibly win some dough all the while helping out with payout. $5 to enter the men's pool with $3 going to the winner and $2 to the women.

No - the state rep gets to choose how the spot is used - some state reps use it for themselves - I have always chosen to have a player from the state that can go who isn't already qualified have a shot to win it fair and square. Plus the extra money raised after the entry fee goes to the winner to help defray costs - which helps the player.

Thanks for the wishes, but my main goal is to not shoot as crappy as I did at the AO.

Course is gorgeous, we picked up a little trash and the Roswell Parks guys were blowing off all the tees.

I want to say thank you to everyone who came and played and came and helped Josh, Woody, Imran, Barry, and everyone that caddied for the ladies including Grease who caddied for my wife in the first round.

Hopefully a great time was had by all.

Unfortunately some lowlife douchebag broke into Ambers truck and stole her purse, the girls all agreed and donated the ace fund to her. Hopefully some justice will be served.

Again thanks to everyone especially all the awesome sponsors...without them there would be no way possible to have such a great payout and absolutely enormous players pack.

Great job Bill! I wasn't much help spotting but that can be attributed to the many many good shots on hole 4, caddying was a blast and it was fun to watch Christy, Cassandra, Elizabeth, Shelly, Amber and Amanda make some great shots in doubles, Christy was hitting shots from all over the place. A wonderfully run event.

Emily and her mom both had a blast. Thanks, Bill. Emily talked about it all day.

Thanks for a well run event. Amber and I had a great time in spite of the A-hole that smashed out my window and stole Amber's purse. Out of 30 women disc golfers I am sure there were 30 purses. We just happened to be the unfortunate one. If they ever catch the guy we are going to tie him to a tree and let all the ladies in the tournament take drives toward his face

Now that is a good idea. Frontier justice disc golf style.

Phoenix wrote:Great job Bill!

Thanks Alex, it was much appreciated. As for the spotting, the mere presence of someone watching somehow magically keeps discs on the fairway. :)

Thanks for caddying for Christy in the second round too, she appreciated it greatly.

Thanks Bill for running a great event!! I still can't believe we had 30 ladies come out to play a tournament - I hope this is a sign of what is to come! It was fantastic playing with all you ladies yesterday :D
As everyone else already said, thanks also to all the men who came out and supported the event - it really means a lot to the ladies when there are men willing to sacrifice their Saturday to help with childcare and running the event, as well as just caddying and cheering us on! A special thanks also to Bob Pressley & Disc Caddie Golf for setting up and providing the iced towels and water near the start of the back 9, Josh Henley for running the putting challenge, Imran for helping run the tournament, Grease for bringing out all the merchandise, Woody for providing the eye candy, and everyone else who came out - you guys spoiled us!
Also - it was fantastic to have Courtney Peavey McCoy back again after a long disc golf hiatus due to new baby Charlie, and wonderful as always to watch Sarah Stanhope shred up East Roswell with her sick sidearm... not to mention how great it was to have a full card of women pros in GA!!
Can't wait til next year @ Flyboy!! 8)

Congrats to Bill for a fine production and to ALL of the ladies as I think this is just the beginning... I'm sure the next event will be even bigger and better!

Enjoyed all the photos. You did a really nice job with the event Bill. It's good to see the range of ages and all the girls on the course. Thanks for all your work!
