Thanks to Keith and family for running another quality event at Meeks. County officials were there during check-in and have definitely noticed the support of golfers throughout Georgia, TN, and other states. By the end of July, we will have hosted 6 events over the past three years. They just gave me permission to mow fairways (3,4,5,14 and 15) for future tournaments and are really supportive of having a nice course.
Just to let the frequent boarders know, Hugh Torbit and Alex Sprinkles did most of the trimming on the course and the parks department did a lot of weedeating and mowing.
We will continue to politely campaign for concrete tee pads. County officials are aware that concrete is the best tee-pad surface. Ideally, we want the course with the best layout before committing to concrete pads. I'm not sure if they will ever put down concrete, but it is a "permanent" investment and I won't push it until we've got everything right. By now, a number of Georgia's top pros have played the course, so any input from them or anybody else is always welcome and considered. No trees have ever been cut at Meeks and it was designed in two phases, so all things considered, it's good to hear the positive feedback on the course.
Thanks to the ADGO, Keith, and all the player's for the support of disc golf in Blairsville. After seeing some of the scores, I have to ask if concrete pads would make Meeks too easy
