Keith,

You might want to consider options to 17. The lake is literally to the teebox and actually up on it a little bit and when we left it started pouring rain...the kind of rain that turns roads to rivers. If that lake goes up another inch or two that tee is gone.

Obviously it could also recede 10' from now to then but having an option and not being caught off-guard on tourney day can't hurt.

Here you go:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYwxCN6j8FA

That is prior to the 2-3" an hour rain we got on Blood Mountain.

Keith went through the same routine last year, so I think he's ready for Pepsi. We will be swimming and trimming tomorrow. Does Randizzle have a photo for that?

Don't trim too much, the frustrating utter lack of a line on a couple of the short holes makes them quite fun!

For those of you that haven't played Meeks - or want a quick refresher - this video of the course was shot on Monday (7-Jun-10). I think all the tees shown here will be used for GSS#4, except for hole #3, where Keith indicated he's going to revive the lower tee next to the pavilion again this year. Holes #6 and #14 have been switched in playing order since Meeks Madness. Enjoy!

Nice video! Matthew had already switched the tee signs for the renumbered holes before you shot your video, so the holes are correctly numbered for the tournament in the video. Just disregard the hole distance on the tee signs for holes 6 and 14. Hope to see some players up here practicing this weekend.

Bob (bad back) Johnson and Griffin will not be able to make it to Meeks this SAT, - so there are 2 spots open to the first 2 people to PM or call me wanting to play.

Tee sign sponsorship availabilities still exist with a deadline of 5PM tonight if you would like to sponsor the Event.

It's quite common for the ratings to be different the second round. The course plays subtly different because of weather (in this case it was hotter) and other "course conditions."

I also wanted to give a huge thanks to Matthew Mashburn for his hospiltality and cooking skills on Friday night - it was some good taters!

Course does look great, hole 6/14 switch is a great improvement to course flow, and once the beach sand is gone from the tee boxes, I'll put the course in the top 10 overall in the state!

@ Bill - As Gerritt mentioned second round scores differ ratings wise and Brad's course record 45 also skewed the first round rating a tad.

@ Clunck - McCoy had the misfortune of being on my card first round - can't say what happened second round.

We were talking about those tees yesterday and maybe they county would budge quicker if you guys suggest doing 3,4,5,9,15 first? Those are the only ones where you really *need* a run-up anyways.

Seriously though...Meeks Ace Race, I would be up there in a flash. 72 peeps with a $10 profit per...$720 will get you started in a good way.

Thanks to Keith and family for running another quality event at Meeks. County officials were there during check-in and have definitely noticed the support of golfers throughout Georgia, TN, and other states. By the end of July, we will have hosted 6 events over the past three years. They just gave me permission to mow fairways (3,4,5,14 and 15) for future tournaments and are really supportive of having a nice course.

Just to let the frequent boarders know, Hugh Torbit and Alex Sprinkles did most of the trimming on the course and the parks department did a lot of weedeating and mowing.

We will continue to politely campaign for concrete tee pads. County officials are aware that concrete is the best tee-pad surface. Ideally, we want the course with the best layout before committing to concrete pads. I'm not sure if they will ever put down concrete, but it is a "permanent" investment and I won't push it until we've got everything right. By now, a number of Georgia's top pros have played the course, so any input from them or anybody else is always welcome and considered. No trees have ever been cut at Meeks and it was designed in two phases, so all things considered, it's good to hear the positive feedback on the course.

Thanks to the ADGO, Keith, and all the player's for the support of disc golf in Blairsville. After seeing some of the scores, I have to ask if concrete pads would make Meeks too easy :(

it seems like the scores aren't going into this next ratings update. Yesterday was the cut off and it's still showing the unofficial round ratings. Any idea if it will be on the July 20th ratings update?
