How about your address? I see the one on the flyer, but some of it is hard to read
or could easily be misread I should say.

We are thinking about this one but want to get out to the course and play it first so hopefully will enter within a couple weeks.

How would you describe it for someone who hasn't played there?

The tee pads are about a third the size as the Alex. Fun course and good use of land. Good mix of holes w/ elevation change. You dont need a big arm to do well. Like Central in that it circles the ball fields below w/ grassy fields.

It has a good mix of everything. Plenty of elevation, some distance, trees, open holes, etc. It's still one of my favorite courses, but my opinion is a little biased. I started playing here and I still consider it my home course. I would say that it is definitely worth the trip. I'll be out there Saturday and would be happy to show you around.

For those interested. I am accepting tee sign sponsorships. $25 will get you a tee sign with your name, company name, favorite saying, etc. Pretty much anything you want as long as it doesn't offend me. I'd say your options are pretty wide open.

Also, I heard that Chattanooga has a sanctioned tournament the same weekend as this. There's also a National Tour in Charlotte. Please support your local course, tournament, and TD. This is my first crack at running an event and I truly hope it fills. Thanks for your support and I hope I can provide you with a wonderful tournament experience.

Entries are rolling in slowly but surely. I'll be at the GSSS 1 event at White Oak this weekend. I will have flyers available and will accept entries that day for those that are interested. Thanks for the support and I hope to fill this thing up.

Tee sign sponsorships are also welcome. The cost is $25 and you can pretty much advertise freely with your tee sign. I'm trying to come up with something to give my hole sponsors in appreciation for there donation.

We're not going through this again. If you think that John Nisewonder is a scam artist, you're sadly mistaken. You're also insinuating that I'm a scam artist. This will be my first venture as TD, I don't see how I have ever scammed anyone. I've said it before and I'll say it again. John is on a very short list of people that I truly respect. Not just in disc golf, but life in general. He's one of the nicest, most genuine people I've had the pleasure of meeting. Your comment just shows how ignorant and worthless you really are.

On a side note, if you want to pay back the money that you stole from me, I'm looking for hole sponsors. Otherwise take your BS elsewhere.

I have 10 players registered thus far. When I get about 10 more I'll upload the list onto the PDGA site.. I also have 3 hole sponsors to far which leaves 20 more holes to be sponsored. If you are interested send me a Pm or email me at scproam@yahoo.com. Thanks for all of the help and I hope to provide you with a great tournament.

I just checked my email. For those of you that have played this tournament in the past, I'm sure you have stuck around and played the Seneca tournament the following day in South Carolina. I just received word from Josh Burgess that he will be having his tournament the Sunday after mine. Information for that will be up soon at upstatedgc.com. So get a hotel and come play 2 great c-tiers at 2 great courses. I'll post more info. here as soon as it comes available.

Many disc golfers and people in general could learn lot about how to live their lives from John Nisewonder. BAM you make a slanderous statement(that is completly untrue which everyone knows) about two people I respect and consider friends so maybe you do deserve the reputation you have!

Still waiting for a few more people to get signed up before I add to the PDGA site. Here are the people that are signed up thus far.

Advanced:
Hugh Torbit, Lance Todd, Brett Porter

Advanced Masters:
Ken Riggle, Mark Dammes

Advanced Grandmasters:
Scott Crackel

Intermediate:
Stephen Savage, Heath Herron, Larry Fruchtman, Mark Spaugh, Richard McGraw

I ordered the player's pack discs and they should be in shortly. I will post a picture when they come in. The design was done by Dusty Jones. Zeb Campbell from Innova said that they look really good. As always, I am still accepting tee sign sponsorships. There are 24 holes being played and I have 16 sponsorships left. Thanks for you support and I hope that the Stephens County Pro Am is a big success.

On a lighter note. I just spoke with Michael at INNOVA and the player's pack discs are being shipped out today. From what he said, they look great. When I get them in I will post pictures.

Ok guys, let it rest. simple solution, if you do not want to play the tourney then do not sign up and why even bother to post negative comments here? I have heard nothing but great things about this course and hate that it is an hour and a half away from me. There should be a thread on this board called "bitching" for all this stupid crap. Poking fun and all is great and fun but this is not called for IMO.

I agree, but there are some things that can't be fixed.

Corndawg, if you haven't played Toccoa you should make the trip. It is well worth the drive IMO. Add the fact that you can make it a weekend by playing Josh Burgess action on Sunday, it's a win win.

Toccoa is the bomb! Not sure about the John Burgess action, but it is probably at Seneca (45 minutes away) which
is a fun track as well. Take it from Captain A-hole, it's worth the trip!

I know I'm competing with a NT event, but I hope some of you other player's will help this event be a success. All you Pro's out there that aren't playing in the NT come play in Toccoa.

Not yet. Wish it was though. I have 80 player's pack discs sitting here that need to be spoken for. I promise this will be a great tournament. Help this first time TD out and give me a chance. Sign up I expect registrations will start pouring in.

Yes Clunck there are spots left. I haven't had a chance to update the PDGA registration page. Were up to about 30 players thus far. No Open Pro's, but the Masters divisions are looking strong. Closing in on the tournament date, help a brotha out and sign up early.

I'm back from Bowling Green and was hoping to see a mail box full of registrations. Come on guys, help a brother out. There are only 20 people signed up so far and we are less than 2 weeks from the tournament. I know that I'm a newbie TD, but I've played enough tournaments and am certain I can run a worth while event. Please show some support to me, Toccoa disc golf, and the years of effort from John Nisewonder.

I think we should take a poll on who would sign up first for Jay's inaugural TD action.
It would be between Chuck Smith(Mr. Disc) or Thomas Lackey. Just for argument sake, let's
say that Thomas is out of jail. Who do you think it would be?

Thanks Randy, I really appreciate it. Please spread the word. I want to run the GA States later this year, but honestly can't do it without the support of my disc golf brethren. This will be the 9th installment of this tournament. It would be a shame to see it go away in the future.

It is tough because you are competing against the Grapevine too. Two equally awesome courses with tourneys on the same day. I still haven't made my decision yet on which one I want to play. :?

Yeah, unfortunately that happens. I'm not sure which tournament was on the schedule first, but that's neither here nor there. No hard feelings either way. I do have 80 player's pack discs, the remainder of which will most likely go on sale the Monday after the tournament. Really cheap too.

Played today...well, she did. Really cool course. Only one I didn't like was 19...nothing like a literal do or die hole.

Now, to be straight...all divisions from short and then longs?

Oh could you also list lunch options, totally ignorant of the area.

I'm glad you enjoyed the course. 19 is a tough hole, but I have seen some tremendous score differences there.

As for lunch, Brother Johns Subs will be on sight Saturday morning taking lunch orders. They are a local company that always supports the tournament. If you don't want a sub there's plenty of other options within minutes of the course. Just turn right out of the park. When you get to the main road turn left and you will find plenty of food choices.

As for the format. We will be playing one round of long tees to long baskets. Then a second round of short to short. I pray that I get more entries this week. Thanks in advance to all of those that have supported this tournament and to those that will in the next few days.

be bringing a little (not as much as the AO) private stash to make it worth the trip. Ask around about
it, people were passing out at the flymart. Pus, I have the new PPIC discs in and they are amazing.
Feldberg personally thanked me at the awards for the dyed Star Boss that he got from me. Apparently,
I got some special version of the Boss that he pointed out to me. Please, help out this tourney and
let's get it filled up.

5 holes have alternate basket positions. 3,14,19,20,23. 9 also has an alternate placement, but that hole will not be played during the tournament. There's always a backup there and I'm trying to ease that up a little.

9 holes have alternate tee pads. 1,4,6,8,10,11,12,13,16. We will be playing 2 rounds of 24 holes. Take out hole 9 to help with flow and add in the island hole.

@Bobby-The players list has been updated.

@Barry-Thanks for choosing Toccoa instead of Nooga. I really appreciate it. Bring a carload of people with you. Day of signup is fine and will be accepted. There's no way it will fill before then. I'll be lucky to get half full.

@Everyone else-I don't want to sound like a beggar, but at this point I will do what is necessary to get this tournament filled up. Not to brag on myself, but John needed someone to step up to ensure that all of his hard work didn't go to waste. This is the 9th Annual event. It would be a shame to see an event with such history go away. I know that Toccoa is a lengthy drive from Atlanta, but the course is wonderful and you'll be supporting a first time TD. We need more TD's in this state to step up, but it's hard when they don't receive the support necessary to run a productive event. I'd hate to see future TD's discouraged by something like this.

If I have offended you personally in the past or if you simply don't like me, I understand. Opinionated people have a hard time making friends. I apologize if that is the reason you don't want to support this tournament. If your reasons are due to the economy, I hope things turn around for you. If you are on the fence because of other tournaments on close proximity to this tournament, I understand, but truly hope that you decide to support a new local TD that has plans for future events.

My begging is over. Thanks to those of you who have sponsored tee signs and have shown support by signing up. It means more to me than I can describe.

The drive is actually pretty easy too. We took 985->365 and from the QT on Sugarloaf to the exit for the park it took an hour...might have been less but there were some cops that slowed our 75mph avg. down to about 67 or so.

I disagree. I don't think it has anything to do with Karma. I'll use you as an example. I can't think of one time in the past that I have offended you or pissed you off. Yet you insist upon bad mouthing me and my tournament. I'd like to know why?

I'll admit that there are people that I have upset over the years. Most of the things I post on this site are in jest. I work at a boring job and some days the only thing I have to look forward to is the useless banter in this website. I'm competing with a NT in Charlotte, a B-tier in Nooga, and a C-tier in Birmingham. I'd say that if anything is holding up registration it would be the competition, not the Karma. Good try though.

Jay,

I do not think it is anything against you.

Alot of us just can not make it this year do to other commitments.

Also, 48 holes in one day up and down those hills at Toccoa is too much for some.

I hope you fill-up, but if you don't save me a player pack and I will pay you for it when I see you next.

I am not familiar with the area, is there any good camping around there? If I could find a relatively kid friendly camping spot, I think I can work this in with the woman's weekend wishes. MAYBE. Lol. Let's hope.

Don't know anything about camping but its a woodsy area so I wouldn't doubt it.

Christy is playing and I am not so I will be just hanging out with Z unless we can find something cool to do.

Is the 9 holer at the church still there?

Oh and Dave...this is a fun course.

Toccoa RV Park & Campground
‎3494 Oak Valley Road
Toccoa, GA 30577-3955
(706) 886-2654‎

This was the only thing that I could find. I'm not sure how close it is to the course, but let's face it, Toccoa isn't exactly a metropolis. I'd say you would be within 10 minutes of the course.

There's a campground about 10 miles East of Rose Lane on SR336 or 17(whatever it's called at that point). That is the main drag into Toccoa.
I know people have camped there in the past. I'm not sure of the name. Maybe some google work will get it or it might actually be the one Jay mentioned.

hmmm... my first Pro win in a sanctioned event, all because there was no one to compete against me. :?
I may decide to jump in this Jay... is any of the masters going to drop over into Open if I sign up?
I guess we'd need at least 3 players for a division?

I have received calls from several people that wish to play in the Open Division. If there are any "Pro's" out there that aren't playing in the NT event in Charlotte, head up to Toccoa and give it a shot.

I'd also like to take this time to thank the people that have sponsored the Stephens County Pro Am through the purchase of tee signs:

"The American Dream" Dusty Jones
Funky Bobby Johnson
Matthew Mashburn "Captain of Innova's Midget Team"
Greg "Grease" Campbell
Laura Williams of North Georgia Credit Union
Strange Disc Sports
Brother John's Subs
Innova Disc Sports

Thanks for the support guys. I really appreciate it.

I forgot to mention. Those of you that are signing up day of, please get there early. There are about 30 people that have said they are coming and I hope that number doubles come Saturday. I don't think it will fill, but I'd hate to see someone get left out by cutting it close. It would also help me with getting the board set in a timely fashion.

Also, bring some money with you to buy in on the ace fund and the Mother Lode CTP. Right now there's a ton of stuff in the CTP. Hat's, shirts, stickers, and 12 Innova Discs. $3 buy in gets you the chance to win this prize pack. Also, Brother John's subs will be on sight taking lunch orders. Please support them. They have supported Toccoa Disc Golf for years now. Thanks.

Ha ha!!! A big pro name like me?? My rating has never met the "Pro" requirements of 970.... hell, it's never been higher that it is now (956 ?) I only play pro because one day I may win a pdga tourney... I've been 2nd one time, that was cool.
I haven't won a sanctioned event in any division

Online sign-up ended on Friday @ 8:00 p.m. At this point, your best option would be to come early on Saturday with cash in hand. Registration will start at 8:00 a.m., but I will be there by 7:00 to start setting things up.

I am still sponsoring a hole. I am still figuring out who is coming up with me, so far i have a Rec player named Josh Garland, for sure. I am trying to get more, i have a couple of dorks sitting on the fence undecided. That's why you haven't got a check from me yet. I understand you had to print the signs, that's no big deal, but i will have at least one sponsorship in cash on Saturday morning. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Whatever. Little rain never scares me away. In fact I tend to play better in crappy conditions. Case in point I shot 111 at the ADGO event in the fall at Flyboy. Rain, cold and overall unpleasant. Then I shoot a 117 at the spring event during almost perfect conditions. I am mudder and I have to accept that fact.

Based on weather.com hour by hour weather. There's only about a 40% chance of rain during the time that the tournament will be played. the heavier stuff is supposed to come in about 7:00 p.m. to mess with your drive home. So.........come and play!!!

I think it went along pretty well, all things considered. Today starts a new preperation schedule for the GA State Championships. Thank you all for everything.
