Bill,
I hope this is a success! In response to your post about the ADGO, it's been hard to get ladies playing disc golf
tournaments locally over the past 15 years that I've seen. We can't force them to play and only hope that they
volunteer to do so. No one has intentionally ostracized the female players. They just don't show up in force.
Maybe if the ladies would ban together, then there would be a better showing. Basically, they can only blame
themselves for lack of attendance if there are that many out there that want to play tournaments. BTW, I'm not speaking
for the ADGO. Just my observations as a TD.
Fart, it's never not funny!

From what we have heard most are scared of the environment. They think it is all jacked up male intensity when really it is quite the laid back experience (from my experience in the lower ranks).

My goal is to show them otherwise while also helping them get better as well.

Most are simply intimidated and we aim to help that. :D

I have a 10x10 easy up canopy, a water cooler, a few large coolers, and tables and chairs if needed. I live about 5 minutes from Lenora park. I could bring them over and set it up for free.

Bill,
I totally agree we need to focus more on the women and juniors. Its guys like you, taking the bull by the horns and making these things happen, who really advance the sport. I'm good for $100, and offer my Flyboy venue for any of these events you'd like to hold here. I have several layouts for the course other than its current 27 hole gold configuration, and can easily convert the South portion to a shorter 9-hole beginner layout with only one water hazard. Thanks again for what you're doing.

Awesome.

I hope to run something bigger each time but I gotta warn you...the women I know HATE the water...especially if its as murky and ugly as Alexanders!! We better be prepared to go get that plastic if there is going to be a water hazard!!

I cannot thank you enough for your support. We will try to find a way out to your course, if not for the whole monster event (no way someone will watch our daughter for that long!) but for at least a round...probably skipping the water. :D

Got some donations rolling in, thanks a bunch! If you can't do cash but would like to help out as others have offered bring it on!!

If we could provide lunch so nobody had to leave the park it would rock! I plan on getting some fresh fruit and of course water before the event as well.

Any help is welcomed and appreciated. Advice is welcome too, never ran an event but have attended a few now. I will be getting some business cards made up with the basic event information on it to hand out at local courses. If you want a stack to distribute let me know and I will hook you up.

In closing I will add this guy > :ugeek: because he looks cool.

I'm a long way from lenora, but based on the cost I might make my wife do it or add a year to my daughters age and bring her. (I don't need disc, but I want them to get excited about it)

I said the age thing because I don't want anybody having to worry about a young kid. If she is mature and whatnot it wouldn't be a problem.

let me know your paypal address and I can just send the money directly, OR send me a paypal invoice and I'll pay that way.

Also for those thinking about having their wives/girlfriends/daughters involved in this, Team Alexander will be playing their weekly doubles tourney at Lenora that week so you can play that while you wait, that will take up at least the clinic portion of the day no problem.

Then you can caddy during the 9 hole tourney...a great day at the course!!

Bill,

Great thing your doing here. I have neither a wife nor daughter, but if I did, I would have there butts out there for this. Very cool.

I do see my sister-in-law signed up so I've got some family in it. The instructors may have a hard time changing her "lady liberty" shot line up, its her signature form, we all love it.

anyway, just wanted to show my support for your great cause. keep up the good work for our sport

Yes, we have women coming from all over the place:

Cumming, Marietta, Athens, Augusta, Birmingham, Newnan....I am quite thrilled with the response. Not to mention our lovely instructor coming up from Macon!!

Rachel will have her hands full with the crowd we have but if there is enough extra interest I can work on getting another date and doing a 2nd or if we find more teachers, adding some, the problem being getting more discs in <25s.

With the Alabama state tourney going on the same day we have pretty much lost all hope of having any other pros available, but that is OK.

Maybe it can become a seasonal thing? Who knows.

Either way I am stoked and wish it wasnt so far in the future!!

25 spots in a women's clinic in GA selling out in 11 days... AWESOME!! :D :D

Although I am sure most of this is due to Bill's great work obtaining sponsorships and sweet merchandise for the players, I will definitely not let you down on my end either! Bill has already come up with a general schedule of techniques/instruction topics I will be covering during the clinic, but if any ladies (or male representatives thereof) can think of any other areas they need work in or more female-specific instruction, post it to this thread and I will make sure to address any of these ideas at the clinic. If it is a problem area for one woman, chances are that many other beginners are struggling with that same thing... so let me know! See you all in May!

Thanks Rachel!

Christy's biggest need is run-up or weight transfer without a run-up to improve distance. She is hitting 150-200' just standing still but cannot find the right mojo to make a run-up work. If she could do that I think she will outdrive me.

It might help by starting out with a step or two, then moving to a run-up type throw. A cross over step would be best for most people to start out learning from. Some like the side shuffle step as well.

We packed up the players packs and this is the final tally:

1 Innova sticker
1 Wizard sticker
1 Disc Golf Chick sticker
1 Sci-dye sticker
1 IDGC sticker
1 Card for my tournament
1 magnolia flier
1 innova mini
1 wizard mini
1 Magnolia mini
1 PDGA Rulebook
1 Avon lotion
1 Avon shampoo
1 Avon lip balm
1 JK Aviar X
1 Pro Leopard
1 S Element
1 Bag
1 PGA Tour Superstore $10 gift card

Don't ever expect to get this hooked up again, I apparently used up all the lady love on this event and am having a heck of a time finding sponsors for the tourney...got some really good leads though and hopefully some good news this afternoon.

One final bumparoo before the event saturday.

We will be out under the trees by the practice basket for sign in, parents (I think just Keith and Gerrit) make sure you sign the sign-in/waiver as well.

If you do not want/need a bag please donate back and it will become a prize for the June 26th tournament.

The massage will be raffled, if you do not want to be in, just let me know, everyone is eligible.

If you want to switch "divisions" let me know. Basically the experienced women win the collectible stuff while the newcomers win useful stuff (towels/water bottles/shirts). Winner in both divisions win a dyed disc.

We will be out early for set up if anyone wants to hang out thats cool.

Will have manual sign up sheets for the June 26th tourney, if you want to sign up bring some dough or a check, will save me the 6% hit on sign-up.

There is a map in the program for those not familiar with the area with lunch destinations.

Can't wait to see you all!!

Thanks for running it Bill - Lorelei had a great time!!!

I join you in being forgetful in that Lorelei will be in New Jersey visiting with her cousins and will NOT be at the ERP Event.

Please use the check to cover someones entry who may need financial assistance or use it for Sponsorship - your choice.

Thanks again for a GREAT day and thanks to RACHEL for all the fine tips and pointers to all the ladies that showed up out there.

Thanks for organizing the clinic/tournament. My wife Crissy is really excited about the sport now and hopes to be at the Roswell tournament if her work schedule allows it. Awesome job!

Great pictures - looks like you got some great shots of everyone out there! Thanks to Bill & Christy for putting this thing together, and a huge thanks to all the ladies that came out and really tried their best to understand my ramblings and critiques and improve their game! I could see a huge improvement in so many ladies' throws just over the course of a few hours, so keep up the good work, keep playing together and giving each other pointers, and I hope to see you all out on the course again soon! :D
