Gas stations w/ beer are too far away.... :|

tee pads could use some work.... (D-wiz)

Nice landscaping and not much shule to deal with. :P

Great layout that doesn't need to be changed for tournaments.

Maybe bring it closer to Atlanta??

Yes its too bad that the county that Meeks park is in is dry, so beer must be bought on the way to course. Several counties bordering Union County do sell beer.
That has been an issue with a couple people that came from ATL to play already. I guess us locals are used to it and have adjusted.
We feel very fortunate to have a course the quality of Meeks as our home course.
Come and play but buy your beer on the way!

That should be a Meeks Park quote!!!! Brilliant!!!!

I love the course, but for the drive, I can ride my bike in the wonderful mountains instead.
I loved playing in the snow last year..... I am kinda let down that the Madness was moved to a hotter time frame. Some of us don't mind the cold weather action!!

Great course though!! I'll contact you if I decide to visit.

I've been a few times and like the course, and weather seems to always be better there than in Atlanta?

I will be visiting a couple times in the next week or so in preparation for the GSSS event. If anyone makes it up there or has plans to do so during the week, post it and I might be able to meet up there too.

Griffin and I are planning to be up there on Sunday for a couple of practice rounds - the course is really solid.

I've never played at Meeks. Will the GSSS tourney be the normal layout?

Yes, and as Jay posted the Hole descriptions are already on the thread from the end of April.
Only changes that are not there are the 2 mando signs, other than that what you see is what you get.

It is the course at Young Harris. Take a guide! Chris Senedor and I tried to play it one day last year and I think we finally found 17 of the 18 baskets and had to hunt hard to find some of those tees. It is not very well kept imo, but has a few good holes. I am not sure if it is being maintained by anyone other than the college, and is apparently not a top priority of theirs, or so it seems?

We need some regularly scheduled monthly action up there (kind of like Deerlick, but actually do it). It is not a bad drive and it is a really solid course. Several of us were talking about it this weekend. It would be really cool if someone up there could throw something together, even if it is no more than - "Hey, let's play Meeks one Sunday a month from now." It is too good a course to not get some more regular play.

I am down with heading north to Meeks for a couple of rounds on the weekend. I live right off of I575 (Exit 27 Ball Ground) which is on the way for many. Hit me up if you want and we can car pool from my house.....

I just played the course a couple weeks ago and I must say i'm kind of upset I live so far away from it. The only complaint I have is the tee pads which could use a little work, but they still weren't to bad.

I have played it a few times this year. I thought some of the changes that were made were good. Some holes were made longer. The new pin position on #4 (I think), which used to be on the side of hill, was moved further away but I kind of liked the old position because it was different.

Overall, I really enjoy playing at McCurry.

I played at Meeks a week ago. I enjoyed the course, but like others did not enjoy the gravel tee boxes. Also, I thought the pars were too high. I usually shoot in the +3 to +6 range here in augusta, and my first time on meeks I shot a -7 from the back tees. I had a couple missed opportunities for eagle as well. I feel like now that I know the course a little better I may be able to go lower. How does the par at meeks compare to other courses around atlanta?

Anyone who plays - plays Meeks as Par 55. 9 is a par 4 the rest are 3s.

Yeah, the pars listed on the signs are for recreational purposes. Like FBJ stated, Meeks is a par 55 layout from the back tees. A true -7 (48) from the backs is in the Kevin McCoy range (1037 rating).
