Atlanta Open April 17th - 18th 2010 - Non Event posts

That's who I signed my contract with before Thanksgiving for the GSSS A-Tier.
They are doing lots of great things for me, and I didn't know you were going to use them also, but the good thing is if people like the place, they will be hopefully be happy to stay there again in September.

Now it's gonna look like I'm stealing from you if use all the things I've got lined up in September already.

Jenni Brinson is my contact at the hotel. SHe use to work at Hampton Inn. WHen she contacted me a few months ago letting me know she moved to Hilton I gave her your information.

I am not using the shuttle and whatever else you had planned. I simply followed my contact for the last four years over to her new hotel and then gave her your info.

Hilton Garden Inn is a really nice hotel. I stayed there a few years back. The AO will be a good trial run for your event in terms of tournament hotel.

I know Rand, I apprecriate your contact (which I didn't need untiil I got the A-Tier) - I didn't know you were using the Garden until you posted. Janice at the Garden asked me for your info when I told her you worked with the Alpharetta V&C bureau to use the Hampton so she could talk to you about using the Garden for your Event when I was working on my contrct.

I'm looking forward to using them as they have a good property for doing all the things associated with big Events.

Happy Holidays to you and your family, and I look forward to maybe seeing you on Xmas Eve at Wills.

Why use the Perkerson Park theme for a tournament nowhere near there?

The Central Park Dragon theme was around long before Perk was a thought. The Atlanta Open art work has used Dragon stamps for the first four years of its six. What do you care anyway Woodrow go sit in the hottub :o

Besides, the Perkerson logo is stolen from a Brazilian(I think) beer logo anyway. It is actually a Phoenix and not a dragon.

You say stolen, I say inspired by. The Imperial logo looks more like a hairy chicken though. Rand wants to bring the Central Park dragon back for 2010. I am also working on a stamp design that should tie it all in. Stay tuned.

A little late to the party, but looking forward to the event. I'll plan to bring some friends.

Do you still have the course layout description? (Searched for it in the other thread but didn't see anything. Can't find last-year's thread.)

Thx,

Come to Dubs this sunday and any local can show you the layout for his tourneys, for the most part, while you play. Uses a few GOLD holes.

It does NOT use any gold holes. Most locals will have a "general idea" of the layout, but 7 holes are changing in some fashion that have not been used in ANY AO or GSSS Event before.

The course layout will be posted before the end of next week and it's possible that the 2 weeks of Sunday dubs leading to the Event will use the AO layout.

Have some patience grasshopper and it will all be ok.

You are close, but RED 1-2 isn't gold - BLUE1-2 is as far as I know - but I could be wrong as after DAVE last changed the gold layout the course has changed several more times - so who really knows.
Either way it will be what it is when I post it later, and then you can tell me if there are any golds in it.

It is a gold layout hole. But you are not using any of the gold tees. Gold layout is a myth more than anything - 12A to B is a gold layout hole too.

Yeah you are right FBJ, there are maybe 5 actual gold tees on the course, all other use current tee to next hole basket for the most part.

That's why I don't recognize it - as I don't deal in MYTHICAL courses - I design REAL ones.

I don't care what anyone wants to call it as I always put "my" own names to the course layouts anyways.

Part of the confusion could be because Rand is calling it a GOLD layout instead of a "Supersized" whatever I come up with this time for the 6th version of "Supersized".

Maybe with REMAX as a Sponsor it could be the "Supersized MAX" tm layout this year.

There you go! CP is a fun course to go out and make holes up on. Like 5 blue to 6 basket, a massive par 4.

When you played in your first atlanta open a third of the field was rated below intermediate, well below advanced. (actually this is 5 years later, so who knows how sh!tty they were when you entered that tourny since we don't get to see historical round ratings. Things have changed my friend. Fast forward to last years NT with 15 players 1000 and above. Granted we will not see as many touring pros this year Ill give you two more facts.

2005 Atl Open Tim Ellis shoots an average 999 to win the tournament vs.
2009 winner Ken Climo shoots a measly 1041 average to win the tournament.

Lastly I would play pro if it weren't $110. I know it wasn't that way in '05. I actually think any more than 50/60 is too much for ams and I am having second thoughts on even playing.
