Another good turn out today. The scores seemed higher then norm but then again the course is now set up for next weekends tournament. You can read this as long for the most part.

Some great disc golf played today! Three teams scored a 48 requiring a three way playoff. Chad and Brad took first place after the first playoff hole while Richard and Andrew took second after the third playoff hole. Joel and James took third. Congratulations to you all.

31 PLAYERS SHOWED THIS WEEK FOR DUBS!!! What a great morning! I never thought people would stop coming up over the hill. We had some players from Central Park make the trip, as well as some local pros. Even with the wind we still had some great scores. With 31 players you can't imagine how close the CTP's were. I respectfully disagree. One of the great attraction of doubles is new players get a chance to play with better players. $5 is a cheap buy-in for a new player who may not know whether or not he has the skills to compete in events. I believe one of our greatest sources of new competitive players got their start playing doubles at their home course. If a new player is considering competing, $5 is a smaller hurdle to overcome then $10 because a new player might get hooked up and split the action on the game where he may not know if he's got any chance at a CTP and could be wasting his money.

Personally, I don't play CTPs but half the time if that. One of my reason is to maintain the option for new double players. (The other is a small mental block about CTPs which causes me to yank my drives and miss my birdie on short holes.) I believe CTPs should be optional the first round and then let the second casual round of players decide. Also, in PDGA events, cash CTPs are optional so it provides consistency across the competitive spectrum.

Here is a question that came up during dubs on Sat. If two people ace two different holes and the total yardage is more then the fund, how does one go about splitting the cash?

right now i'm going with split it. we don't have enough money to cover both aces so to split it is the only thing to do right now. i'm still waiting for one ace never mind 2 in one round.

We add the total distance of both aces, divide that into the total of the cash fund, come up with a percentage, apply that percentage to each ace distance and there you are. Simple... right?!

DistanceTotal = AceA+AceB

example:
CashTotal = $400
AceA = 275'

What a wonderful day for disc golf!!! Even though GSSS #1 was scheduled for today we still had 28 players. All the new practice basket markers are in, and again a bunch of new members joined in the fun. Now that the good weather is starting to arrive I need everyone else to arrive on time as well. This is very important to me in order to run a smooth league. We will be drawing chips at 9:50am. After the chips are drawn we will NOT accept any more players, not even to be odd dog. So PLEASE everyone arrive on time so you can help me run this smooth. Those of you that read this please let others know about the schedule for next week.

One more thing I would like to mention is the new bag tag league starting at Lenora. If you have any questions you can look into it more on the ADGO web site. Chop also gave me some paperwork and info if you had any questions when you come to dubs on Saturday morning. Like always Thank you again for helping making Team Alexander a success!

Not only did he manage to ace hole 4 but that was also a CTP hole, PLUUUUSSS he won dubs action with a 42, aaannnd he got a disc that was donated by the GDGO to us for helping dig holes for the practice basket markers for CTP's as well. We will just start calling him "The Janitor" because he likes to clean up(he's squeaky clean).

It looks like the Gwinett parks department really put out for the details, like the little distance-marker bricks around the putting basket, the nice tee signs, the dual concrete tee pads that always pointed in the right direction (sooo many courses get that detail wrong!), the well-installed sleeves for the multiple pin placements, etc. Let me know next time y'all aren't going to have 20+ mph gusting winds, and I'll come join you again. Nice to see 22 people came to play at Alex today. It was a perfect day for disc golf. I just got back from the Crucible and it was SICK. Congrats Mark Spaugh for taking the intermediate players to school and winning the division, and winning the Ace/Eagle fund(well he split it with someone, but it was still cool). I will most likely be talking about this course for a few weeks so you will hear more about it when I see you on the course. Good playing today everyone, see you next week!

If you like a good play off you should have come this morning! We had seven out of seventeen teams shoot 47's this morning. Yeah a bit ridiculous, I agree(that's why I shot a 48). Thanks for dealing with my morning delays and we only finished 15 min. later then usual.

I also talked with Cody this morning and he told me they made a dope Safari layout at Central that they will be playing next Sunday the 29th at 4:00. Yes it will be doubles action.

odd dog wins for the 2nd time
Congrats to Mike H. for taking first as odd dog(only the second time odd dog has won dubs). Charles Eldridge parked hole 2 for the CTP, then on the last CTP hole he beat out Greg for a second CTP on 15. Cody Britton hit his head on the basket marking his CTP on 11, and JR had no challenges on his CTP for hole 6. I apologize to Rob Kelley for turning him away this morning. We had already drawn chips Rob. I know you can never make everyone happy but I like to try. See you all next week!

So we did have 46 players today, a new record! Let's start off with a big CONGRATS to Adam Marks for his ace on hole 6 today. Our CTP winner's this week were Taylor OSullivan hole 4, Matt Dollar hole 8, and Matt Rudzinski took both 10 and 13.

One more reminder, June 26th JR will run dubs at Lenora. Here are details of the tournament: Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation are holding some "TeamChallenge" events this year. The GDGO was asked to help run the Disc Golf event and found out a bit more about these fundraisers.

The Team Challenges are run by Gwinnett County as charity events to raise money for children and elderly who would like to take advantage of Gwinnett County programs but cannot afford the fees. Disc Golf is only one of the events they've planned this summer.

The Disc Golf Team Challenge will be Saturday, June 26. It will be a one round charity event with a start time of 9 am. All teams registered must have 4 people, which needs to include at least one woman, and pay a $50 registration fee (which is tax deductible).

The GDGO is donating 2 CTP discs and minis for all.

There will be trophies for the winners (provided by the county;) there will not be a payout in plastic or cash.

I still need to get the link for team sign up.

Record breaking day again
Ok so we had 35 people show today but thats not what the big deal is about. Not only did we have some sick scores, but we have a new Alexander doubles record of a 41, yes 13 down by Raury Seagreen and Dusty Jones. We also had yet another Ace this week on hole 4 by Steve Young, and if I heard him right this was his first ace. Congrats Steve!!! Now for our CTP winners....... we have Bryan C. taking hole 2, Raury Seagreen took hole 9, Al Fetta got hole 12, and Brett Portter took the last CTP on hole 15.

I was a very hot and sticky morning but we all had a good time. Of course we had a few new people join us this week. Like i always say thanks to all of you that help make our Saturday mornings a success.

We had 18 show today, not bad for the GSSS #4 going on. CTP winner's are Kevin Sanders hole #1, Andrew Lofstrand hole #5, Chris T hole #10, and Mike Alessi hole #14.
Another reminder, next weeks bubs will be held at Lenora due to the Team Challenge at Alex in the morning. I would recommend making a 4 man team and coming out for some fun. It's a fund raiser for children and elderly that can't afford fees for park activities. 3 men and a woman is a recommended team, but if you have 4 guys you will have a 3 stroke handicap. I believe you have till Thursday maybe Friday to sign up. COME JOIN THE FUN!!!

Congrats to Matt Dollar and Matt Rudzinski(big Matt and little Matt) for setting yet another dubs record at 13 down. We had a pretty go turnout even on 4th of July weekend! Nothing like disc golf in the summer here in GA. Nice tight scoring this morning. Even the ctp's were tight Cody Britton took both hole 2 and hole 10, Nick Brost took hole 6, and Mark Spaugh got hole 14. I have all the scores for last weeks dubs but because not everyone put last names on it so it's a bit hard for me to post. We need to start writing our full last names because we have to many people with the same names.

Next week I do not have any dubs scheduled due to the Alexander Aerial Armada II that everyone is signing up for. JR just had his twin boys on Thursday so he needs a little resting time. If you need more info on time or for some strange reason you need directions go to the ADGO board all the info is on it.

He did manage to blow my record for no redraws this year. I had a hard time posting scores tonight because nobody put last names on the card. 40 players showed up to join in some early spring disc golf weather. That groundhog was not lying! All 20 teams shot under par, and we had a close call on the redraw but we managed to work it out. 38 players nice turn out! Comcast South came out and did some camera work and played a round. They never played before, but are looking forward to getting into the game more. I thought for sure 13 down would take it(that is what I told the Comcast Dude). I was right, within a few weeks another ace will be hit! Congrats to Phillip Belt for hitting hole 8(218) this morning. Also congratulations to Rob Kelley for getting in a round of disc golf before his wedding this evening. I did not run dubs this morning due to my son's soccer game so I do not have CTP winners, but I did drive out to give Phillip his ace money. 30 people showed this morning and once again a hand full of new players came out to join us. Once again another ace was hit! Phillip Zakas nailed hole 14 and drained the ace fund 252. Nice job buddy! Not to take anything away from Phillips ace Nick Brost and Steve Young made a new dubs record and shot a 39. Nice job buddies!. Merry Christmas!
Once again as always some tight scores, and new faces. Why is it that is was so nice all week, then when Saturday morning hits it cold and windy? Any ways, I would first off like to say CONGRATULATIONS to Mike Alessi for being the first to hit an ace on hole 5 new pin position! What did he throw you ask? His Meteor. He takes home a mind blowing $57. Everyone is playing very well these days so that ace pot is not growing. Our CTP winners are Brett Porter hole 4, Corey P. hole 6, Andy Campbell hole 13, and Mike Martin hole 17.

I will not be in town next week and it is Christmas Eve, but that does not mean action is not still on. Not sure how many will show, but have fun! Have a safe and happy holiday and I will see you in a few weeks!

Good to see everyone this morning, this was my first dubs round of the new year. We had 12 teams today and all finished under par. yes no doubles that weekend, sorry. GCO is a B tier this year so both saturday and sunday Alexander park and Lenora park will be full. You are more then welcome to stop by and watch some of the top players in the area play, and while your at it you can stop by Disc Stalker our local disc golf pro shop and get any disc you can think of and even get a custom print as well.
