Yargo is getting some concrete tee pads!!

Postby Buzzed » Sat May 30, 2009 10:33 pm

Played today and ran into a group of scouts doing an eagle scout project. They have set the forms for the first three pads and are pouring the concrete tomorrow (Sunday 05-31-09). I believe they are going to do the first three only, but am not 100 percent sure. Side note: almost stepped on a copperhead on 16. That time of year I guess.

We played there today and those 3 pads are freaking huge and beautiful.

I really hope more are on the way. You could grill out on the back of the pad while people are throwing.

Please note kids are starting to vandalize. They figured out that the baskets are held up by aluminum poles and so started pushing them over. We set 3 of them back upright, but they need repair---really, they need galvanized steel poles, or the baskets will begin to go missing.

Loved the course!

Luke, I think you got Yargo confused with Victor Lord. There are a couple of big trees down at Yargo, but I am not aware of any damaged baskets.

Please note kids are starting to vandalize.,

I don't think it's kids that are vandalizing, I think the person that did it, knew what they were doing. this is not just a random act.

Only the 1st 3 holes have concrete. There is a HUGE amount of shule out there right now! Look out for a VERY large hornet nest right of 13 tee, and left of 16 basket.

Oh, and the chiggers too!

Talked to a guy walking his dogs at the 1st tee pad and he said that "The Friends of the Parks" were going to finish installing concrete on the other tee pads!

Guess we'll wait to see if that's true...

Holes 4 - 11 and 18 now have concrete tee pads.
Looks like the others will be installed soon.
If you play there, please stop by the ranger station and extend your thanks to the "Friends of the State Parks" organization for thr great job.

Played Saturday with some friends... The concrete pads make a great difference and it is easier to get a consistent release on the tees now. Shot a personal best 58 there on Saturday!

I plan on using our new 1972 pop-up at Yargo in the next few months to do some disc golfing and mountain biking. I like the course, just not in the summer time when the bugs are out.
