This is a super fun tournament. The entry is a little high, but we have to pay cart rental fees and green fees. This is a temporary course that plays on a ball golf course. It is one of the sweetest courses I have ever played. If the tournament fills, Tupelo Bay Golf Center is going to add $2000 to the purse. I know it's the weekend after the Charleston Classic and a lot of you travel to that, but this is well worth a trip.

This will be my third year in a row. To my knowledge it has never filled. Here's the attendance numbers over the last 4 years:

2005 - 64
2006 - 59
2007 - 64
2008 - 62

I'd say you are pretty safe if you need to wait to signup.

That's where the majority of the player's stay. Based on pictures that I've seen, I wouldn't stay there. It is cheap and there's plenty of room if you have a whole crew of people with you.

FYI,

Check on travelocity and other sites for some great rates.

This is off season so hotels are cheap!!

I have two guys traveling with me and we just booked a 2 room condo on the beach for $49.00 a night. (49.00 split 3 ways = $17.00 a night)

Check out tripadvisor.com for reviews if you are not sure of the hotel.

This will be my first time to Tupelo Bay and I am looking forward to it.

Later,

This tournament must be great Jay as you seem to be obsessed with it. I wish I could make it however I think a my over all lack of pesos is going to prohibit such action.

It's not so much the tournament. The course is phenomenal and the atmosphere is great. The entry fee is steep, but we have to pay green fees and cart rental fees.

Did he tell you this because there is nothing on the PDGA site? Seems like there is no reason NOT to play pro. You are paying over a hundred regardless.

And your cold weather gear. High in the low 50's and 60% chance of rain for the entire weekend. Sounds like a blast.

Thats OK, Our hotel has indoor pool and hot tubs plus a bowling alley and arcade!!

If you want a whirlpool tub, you will have to give Jayski a can of baked beans and a bathtub!!

See ya at Tupelo Saturday.

Good competition starting to line up. Who's with me? Or are you local "Pro's" scared of getting worked by some real disc golfers. Just sayin.

Word on the street is that there is going to be an A-Tier at Tupelo in May 2010. It's going to be a USDGC Qualifier. Limited to 72 player's. We will play three rounds of 27 holes Friday-Sunday.

It's all in who you know. I still have the inside track on a beach house that will only cost me $20 for the entire weekend (gotta pay the cleaning crew). It doesn't have hot tubs and water slides like your palace, but it's nice, cheap, and the beds are comfy.

They have already released the qualifier list. I doubt they are going to add to it but in this game I guess anything is possible.
