The first throw on a hole is an ace even if it was practice in my opinion.

If the one on 1 would have gone in that hit the band, that would have been invalid as it was the 5th throw on the hole.

If you're on a tee pad and you only throw one shot and that shot goes in, it's an Ace and should count. As long as it is witnessed by someone. Casual aces that happen without a witness are INVALID.

If I get an ace on the first throw from any tee and someone is there to witness it, I will get it signed and I will count that as an ace. In the previous mentioned case, I didn't have anyone sign it, because it was not recorded as an official ace. The best part of that story is that I ended up with a 5 on the hole, because my re-tee went into the creek that was 40' from the basket.

I got an ace on 9, but it skipped does that count or is their a penality for hitting the ground first. An ace is an ace, from tee pad to basket. otherwise I have about 10+ invalid aces. right now I am at about 40 with 16 of them on hole 16 at redan, what a HOle. I have 3 on one disc( hole 16 redan), can anyone beat that.

What is the official process for noting an ace?
 I have seen the disc signed by the acer and witnesses, the back of the band on the hole signed and dated, and simply a scorecard marked and attested.
 Is there an agreed upon celebratory ritual of any kind?

Please never do that! Only a true tard would think that is the way to commemorate an ace (with vandalism).
We get that crap at Deerlick and White Oak and it's not cool at all. I don't know when this started, but could
you imagine Skeletor's 16 aces plus the thousand others on 16 at Redan? Getting the ace disc signed is the proper
way. BTW, not calling YOU a tard, just the chest slappers that sign baskets.

I like the idea of being able to see the aces that have been made on a particular hole but agree that defacing a basket is not the way to go. Perhaps we could start a thread for each course to be updated by the course web administrator. Maybe, course records could be kept there as well.

in MA a course called Buffumville Lake puts engraved name tags on the post of the tee box signs on the hole that was aced. thats probably the best idea i could give. maybe that could be some thing that the GDGO or ADGO could do for the courses in the area.

River City Nature Park in FL has a board seperate to the main course board (or it could be put on the back of the board at Alex for example). It has 10 pegs (nine holer) with woodworking biscuits with a hole drilled in them. 1 peg holds the blanks and the other 9 represent the holes on the course. It has a sharpie on a string and if you ace a hole you sign and date a biscuit and put it on the proper peg.

Seems like a really good way to keep up with it without vandalizing the course.

Amazing back-2-back drives. #10 at Alex today (4/13/10). Playing with Cliff, Prandy, & Carl Williams. I hit a skip ace with the basket in the back position (360ft) with an R Pro Boss.
Everyone took second drives. My 2nd drive (Pro Katana) skipped down to the pin then rolled and leaned up against the basket post. It was almost directly below the ace. The leaner was facing the post, so my name was visible on the disc as we approached the basket. Carl got a picture of it. Sweet!!!!
Finished the round with a 50.

I wanna' see that pic.
Practicing with Dusty today, I had the 3-spitter from 25'; first one in the chains left, straight through; second high center, down the chains and out; third low right for a sluice down in the basket around the back and pop!; Out the other side. So I moved to 30' and canned it. Dusty putted low, hit my disc sitting in the basket and popped it right out on the ground. There's always balance in nature; You're welcome.

I hit a blind ace on 15 with the basket far right cubby in the trees....heard it bang, walked up thinkin it didn't stick..........
150 Valk backhand, almost too high(thought I was gonna hit canopy) & breakin hard right.....
and there were two young players that said I scared the crap out of them as they were walkin thru from 17.....

my only other ace hole is Redan 16...twice...but prob my last there....since my line has been outgrown by the Velcro tree on the creekside....
