What is the best known Ace in GA disc golf history??

Postby $Dollar$ » Sun Nov 01, 2009 6:19 pm

Chris Millays 498ft ace yesterday made me wonder if any better ones were out there.

I'm sure theres some contenders out there like;

Jessie Mc1000000 winning over Grand for his Ace at Central Park dubs on (what is now) hole 2? from blue.
I know Chim hit some amazing aces at The Ant Farm, like 16 and 18(twice)....maybe even 13?
Old man Brett R aced the old gym hole at central, and I'm pretty sure he can't even reach that hole

The best 2 that I have personally are Hole 7 at Lenora and 12B Blue (outside placement) at Central.

I think Chim aced hole 10 at the Ant Farm with a huge hyzer that left chain indents on the disc! That's the way i heard it.
We were getting ready to play hole 1 when Chris aced hole six! It was amazing!

I heard about this guy who had a sick ace on hole 2 at ERP during a tournament once and went on to shoot a blistering 61 from the blues. A huge hyzer with a Coyote - it was crazy!!!!

I aced 18 at Redan after ripping up my ankle on the second hole during a Hotlanta event. 18 was my last hole of the round and I was just getting ready to DNF.
There may have been longer ace's from others but mine will always be one of my greatest highlights in my DG History.

My ace on #7 from the blues at ERP was pretty good than later that day I played Oregon Park and aced #7 from the whites.

I aced 17 from 13's tee pad during the ace throw-off at the Cold Snake Classic in 2008. I think a few you guys saw it. :D My best ace to date.

I just remembered another contender that I actually witnessed. Around 2004, A group of friends, including my college roommate at the time Matt Godwin, went to Chuck Smith's house for a day of disc golf, cooking out, and playing poker. The course consisted of holes that played around his house and neighborhood.

The first hole was a really sweet downhill 400+ late turnover shot to a homemade basket. Matt Godwin steps up and throws the best shot of his life; a huge high late turner that tracks right into the heart of the chains.

The best part- The chains were plastic on the basket, and when it hit they exploded, literally! To top it off the top of the basket(made of a barrel) crashed down to the bottom, and they both slammed down to the ground! Technically the disc didnt stay in the basket but I've always considered it an equipment malfunction ace.

Plotky almost Aced 12's basket from 16's teepad during a tournament at Deerlick. That was one of the sickest shots I hae ever seen. And then he comported himself enough to save a 3 on the hole. You amaze me John Plotky...

Rain + new DX disc = severe grip lock
Worst part was that someone was putting on 12 so I couldn't "fore!" immediately. Putt was made, I yelled, and disc crashed chains all in a split-second.

If the disc had hit a truck and you were sued, then you lost your job and your girlfriend and you took to drinking Capt Morgan for breakfast and your dog bit you, then there might have been a song in it.

It's not a Georgia Ace, but many people in Georgia witnessed it:

The Tron Ace that was scored at the end of the movie during the disc battle.

BTW: Tron Legacy is set to come out soon....

I've never known anyone that has watched Tron while on LSD. I do know someone that watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for 12 straight hours while on LSD. It was awesome. I mean, he said it was awesome.

Playing in the Ga States tournament at Rose Lane Park in Toccoa, I aced hole # 7 (400' +) this is the downhill shot into the valley.

This is the hole I sponsored which made it kinda cool, BUT the best part about the Ace was this hole was the CTP for my division and Whapow (Chris S) had just parked the hole, marked the CTP and was on his way to the next tee when my disc crashed the chains.

The look on his face was priceless!

I had another ACE out of state in Seneca SC on hole 18. I walked about half up the fairway and realized I wasn't in the ACE Fund. I wound up getting a longest putt plaque instead of the cash...Very memorable. Stupidity has a way of making great memories.

3 tourney ACES - Two I watched go in and oddly ebnough both were Hole 18's and both were Wraiths. My XD Ace was one that was just laying in the basket when I got to the basket. XD's are great discs but they don't have alot of pizzazz.

All 3 discs are retired and in my collection as I think they already servved their purpose. 8)

I had probably the least known ace in Georgia. It was the 2nd wood hole at Lake Russell.
It hit and I stepped off the tee to let Phil throw. He asked if that went in and I said yes.
