He moved it up 30 minutes - do I owe him 2.50 now? I am not sure if Team Johnson can defend at FF this year.

What's the age range of "Pup" this year? Had a great time with my son last year, but I think he barely fit the age requirement. We came in 4th! out of 4

So 8 holes will have 2 teams and 10 holes will 3 teams. Sounds like the holes with two teams will wait, play, wait, play, etc........no?

The CFR sponsor disc are going to be Inncolor versions of that art. Nice job Skinner! Sponsor a hole now to reserve yours. Remember, each player will receive a players pack disc with a black and white version of the headless horseman stamp.

UPDATE:

We are going to move the TEE OFF to 9am Sat morning October 31st. This will give us time to get home or where ever else we need to go. Short players meeting at 8:30 (very short at that). Most of us get to tournaments well before the tee time any way. For those of you who just love to over analyze, feel free to voice your concern, but this is final. When I say final think of it like a Keith final = bottom line

What discs are going to be the Inncolor? I'd like an Aviar if possible.

Show me the Money fellas. I need to generate some income to pay for the huge disc order I just received. Fright Flight has filled the last several years, but for some reason I am thinking that it might not this year? Sign ups are coming in very slow.

I think some of the reason for slow sign-up is the online only deal.

If there was a way to sign-up without the online deal, I think more would be signed-up already.

I think some of the reason for slow sign-up is the online only deal.

And the fact that the "sign-up fee" is twice what is normally charged because it is for two golfers. I found it a little tough to fork out an extra six bucks but I did.

My guess is people are waiting until after Lake Russell and/or P.P.I.C. to sign up. Still a long ways away.

Gimme back that sponsor money Mike! I told you I was only sponsoring a hole if you were my partner, but now I hear that you're bringing in a freakin' ringer!

Pete,

My partner has had to drop out due to back issues. Give me a call if you still need a partner.

Folks, get those entries in! This event is the longest running in the Atlanta
area and deserves to fill every year. Help Rand out and get this filled early!

Is anyone interested in teeing off from really sweet gravel pads for this classic tourney ? Then get your rhetorical butts over to White Oak this Saturday(Oct.3rd) so you can help make this dream a realization. If you can make it, then we got lunch for you.
Also, does anyone know someone from whom we can borrow a 'Green Machine' type cart ?

This year I would like to hold a silent auction with all proceeds going to Melanie and Jason Hughes. Their one year old son Aiden, has been courageously fighting cancer for the last several months. Jason and Melanie have spent an incredible amount of time in various medical centers and could use all of the support we can give them.

If you have any items that you would like to contribute to the silent auction please let me know. The Hughes' are an incredible disc golf family, we all need to get behind them. The silent auction will open Sat morning Oct 31st during the check-ins for FF. The auction will close one hour after the round two final card is turned in.

Please let me know if you have anything to contribute to the auction.

Thanks

Rand,

You can count me in for a couple.

I will go thru the garage and see what I can find.

I know for sure that I have a USDGC Champion Roc from a couple years ago. Has the eagle stamp on it, still in plastic and I think it is close to max weight.

The rest of you guys who are thinking about donating, PLEASE do, this family can really use our support. My wife and I stay in contact with Melanie and Jason and they almost lost Aiden Friday night. Please do anything you can to help out.

Even if you do not bid on anything, cash donations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Rand for doing this!! May God bless you and yours.

Wookie is going to have Fox Brother's BBQ sandwiches and chips for sale at the course for $5, so lunch will be provided on sight.

Where are all of the Pro teams. If you know of anyone that wants to play (Dollar, Vach, Matlack, etc...) get in touch with them and let them know to sign up. I still need two more hole sponsors, Bueler...

Every player in the tournament will get a tournament stamped disc Roc or Aviar. I have more Rocs than Aviars, so if you want an Aviar get there first. Again, dont forget about the Aiden Hughes silent auction. If you have something to donate please bring it. Bring your money as well.

Thanks to everyone that helped with the tee pads at White Oak!

9 holes will have six players. So it looks like we have room for 6 more teams. Let everyone know to act quick if they want in.

Now that it's full, i can't help but notice all the disgraceful Bagger "Pros" playing in the AM division. A team that really stands out to me is team Plopky/Clanck. They have their eyes on that voucher! It's a sad story, but didn't Clunck/Benton win the Pro division one year? Plotky and Clunck will both be battling it out in the Pro division tomorrow.

I agree, its a very sad story line.

Good memory Randy. Clank did win the Fright Flight one year with Brian Benton. This may be the first time in GA history that an Open player wins a tournament in a pro division and then backslides to Am. Hasnt Plotoky won a Pro Master's tournament this year? WOW. We havent been labled "Amlanta" for no reason I guess. All in fun. It is funny how this message board has the "Bagger" thread spark up every few months. The Am division is pretty stacked with good players as well as volume. There is no telling who will take home the title. Though Plotky and Clunk are "baggin" there is no guaranteed victory.

Clunck is an old man past his prime..... just the other day he had to buy a gun because a few of his nieghbors were robbed and he didn't think he'd be able to out-man any robbers (if they decided to rob him) It's a sad story of getting old.... one I will have to face, and then I can be the "old man" bagging in the Am division.

I would say they are in the right division as Clunck will just hold Plotky back....

Just a last minute thought, maybe its lame, but here goes.

how bout' a pumpkin carving contest (it is halloween after all) to be judged during lunch. (everyone gets to vote for one, most votes wins)
every one entering a pumpkin could pay 2 or 3 bucks and the money goes towards the Hughes Family fund.
winner gets one of those full color CFR discs or something.

also,
I'll volunteer to bring a jar full of candy where one can pay a buck to guess how many pieces are in it. winner gets the jar of candy (to hand out to the trick or treaters) and the money also goes to the Hughes'

it's not my tourny of course and i dont want to interfere with your side action, but if those in charge like the idea let us all know.

I am offering this disc up for the silent auction to raise money for the Hughes family. It
is absolutely sick and I hate to let it go from the uber private stash. Some of my private
stash gets seen, this one would normally not. This is a crazy rare 8 time KC Roc weighing
in at 179 grams. That's rare enough as it is! This puppy was one of the few that were dyed
by J-bird and got his added stamp in the center. J-Bird, if you are not aware, handles the tie
dyes for Innova as well as the early dyes for Discraft. Back then when tie dying discs was in it's
infancy, J-Bird found early on that unless it was a KC Teebird or Eagle(earlier Pro plastic) that
the colors were less vibrant. This was one of the trials. Albeit, the color is pale, this Roc has a
crazy rare robin's egg blue hue to it. Old schoolers are drooling at this point and rightfully so.
This disc has been thrown, but is still in wonderful shape with only a few scratches. The previous
owner's name has been mostly removed, but is still visible. I am entering the first silent(public)
bid at $100 as I would rather pay that and take this beauty back home than see it go.

Greg,

I think we should post this on the PDGA site as well.

Maybe we could be like the Barrett Jackson auto auctions and have internet bidders as well.

I will be bringing some other stuff for the silent auction as well, I do not know what but rest assure it will not touch that 8 time!!

All you others who can bring things for this cause.. PLEASE DO!!

By the way,,, YOU ROC GREG!!

Melanie and Jason would be proud of ya!!

Thanks for the suggestion. It's already up. A little added info:

To help put this all in perspective, Jason and Melanie have a son Aiden who has been undergoing treatment for brain tumors for the past 5 months. Neither the mother, father, or of course Aiden have been able to spend more than 1 night at home over this period of time. The Atlanta disc golfers have contributed quite a bit to help them out in their time of extreme need. If you would like to make a bid, please IM me and it will be added to the other bids. Bidding will end at 10 est Saturday (10-31). The winner will be notified Saturday night.

unfortunately, my school schedule has not allowed time for a disc golf related painting.

HOWEVER!

for the silent auction, i'll do the next best thing.

THREE complete designs from Show|Dough disc golf design.

Whatever your design need, I will do it for free. business cards, tournie stamps, t-shirt design, poster design, whatever.

(awesome for all you TD's out there, for next year)

i'll make up some certificates.

I will also bring some goodies for the silent auction, which won't rival Greg's beauty, but will hopefully help in a small way.

I'll go on record here that if I get an ace I'll donate all of the winnings to the fund as a generous golfer (Mr.Campbell) did in May when he hit one at "the Lick".

Maybe no one will get an Ace and the players will vote to give the ace money to the fund for Aiden .

I'll also go on record that I'll outbid Greg's opening bid for the Roc to help out.

See everyone Saturday morning!

I would say that's a pretty cool prize that will/could be worth alot of money.

One of these young guys is the most likely to be the next "Climo", so it could potentially be worth alot more one day.

Glad to see you warmed up, hopefully you can stay that way - and see how things that happen at the same time can coincide and that people can still work WITH each other for the good of a family who has undergone a lot of grief in the last several months.

I also have some surprises set up that will be revealed Saturday to help raise funds for the cause.

As the saying goes - if you ask to ask you can't afford it.

Seriously, I don't know what value the golfers there at Fright Flight will put it on it, but online it has sold for over $300, and I may ask my pal Greg to put it up on Ebay for me if it doesn't raise enough in my opinion, so we can raise as much as possible.

Specialty discs have the good and bad element in that it has to be something someone may be looking for and willing to spend money on to make them valuable to someone besides the seller.

Rand is already doing that as part of the Event as he does every year.

From the top post by Rand:
Side Action: “More side action than a dog track” $20 all in.
$2 Ace Fund – CTP throw off if not hit.
$1 CTP on every hole (separate for pros and ams)
CTP prizes on designated holes

Craig and Ryan Dickerson humbly offer the following for little Aiden's silent auction on Saturday...

We have a nice "sterilite" tub that is the perfect size for storing extra discs. Inside we have filled it with the following goodies...
1 ) Innova Teebird with a "Fly Me To The Moon" stamp.
2 ) Innova First Run Skeeter. (donated by 11yr old Justin Dickerson)
3 ) DGA Aftershock.
4 ) Gateway Magic with a 2009 Bowling Green "May Daze" stamp.
5 ) Black sharpie.
6 ) Birdie Bag.
7 ) Innova mini.
8 ) An Innova and a Discraft sticker.
9 ) Innova "Play Disc Golf" licence plate frame.
10 ) Discraft Hat (blue).
11) Folding disc golf chair.
12 ) And Finally, a six pack of Blue Moon, "Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale" beer. (must be 21, obviously)

We hope some folks will find some value in it and bid on it for the Hughes' family sake. 8)

See you Saturday!

I edited my post above. I think it might have originally read as though we were auctioning off each individual item. We were actually going to make it one big offering to be bid on all together.

If we are playing the same tees, then why are the pro and am ctps seperate? Was it that way at Merriweather? I thought it only split up bc we played seperate tees at Toccoa. So the most any pro ctp can be is $24, while the ams can win over $50 in cash on every hole. Wtf??? So all the cash is in playing am. Why am I suprised

I'm not positive, but wouldn't it be CTP for Pros "ONLY" and CTP for Ams "ONLY" on each hole?

And I don't know what Rand is planning but there are short tees on 4,6 and 17.

What??? What kind of answer is that? You just restated the obvious. The Am "only" ctps can be worth over twice as much as the Pro "only" ctps. Therefore....WTF????

Sorry - I missed the EVERY hole part - I have never played in Fright Flight before, and even though I knew Rand went nuts on CTP's from his "more action than a dog track" comment every year, I didn't know they were on every hole.

You obviously would have to ask Rand about that, but it still falls back on the pros to signup if they want to play for more action in larger fields.

Because most of us AMs can't compete with the likes of:
1. Rand Eberhard / Brad Hammock *
2. Scott Renz / Tim Ellis *
3. Josh Henley / Nate Garner
4. Greg Campbell / Paul Trent
5. Q / Jordy Boyd *
6. Michael Burton / Brian Benton
7. Messy Hulen / Jessie McMillion*
8. Chris Millay / Justin Drage
9. Jeff Bryk / Aaron Dean*
10. Dollar / Vach
11. Cody Britain / Scott Hall*
12. Will Cralle / Phil Arthur*

......and probably would opt NOT to pay into them.

In Toccoa the Ams played the short tees and Pros played the long, therefore we had two ctps per hole. This year, since all of the items that were going to go up for ctp prizes are now going to the silent auction, we are just going to have money ctp shots on every hole.

I would like to make each ctp one division, especially since most of the Am field is just as capable of winning any given CTP on the course. I did advertise seperate ctps for pros and ams, but I think I cam going to combine those two divisions to make the holes worth more money. This is the way that I have always done it so we are going to go back to it.

On a seperate note, I am going to have ctps for the mixed and pop and pup divisions that will not require a buy in. Meaning each of those two divisions will have a few seperate ctps.

Just to be clear one more time, AM and PRO will both be competing to win the same CTP on each hole. If you want to get in put your money in. If you dont want to get in then dont. Last time we had two ctp flags per hole many of the flags were moved by people in the wrong division. ONE DIVISION FOR CTPS. Anyone in the tournament is welcome to buy in on any given hole $1 per hole $20 for all sides. Show up early enough to get your money in on everything including start up bids. By the way, this was already decided before I read Dollar's teary eyed post  One love Dollar

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am really excited about all of the support for the Hughes family. I have quite a bit of stuff to kick in as well. I hope we can find someone to hang out around the pavillion while the players are on the course. A BIG thanks goes out to all of the supporters. As G-reg mentioned, this family has lived in a hospital room for five months. Lets come behind them generosity and compassion.

According to the weather forecast it looks like I'll get a chance to see how well the tee pad work helps personally. :(

Hopefully the weather won't be too bad.

I can't throw as far as you or Dollar or 99% of the Pro field that is listed as playing so why would I want to get in on all the CTP's just to donate them.

(I am not playing, just selling sammy's so it doesn't matter, but it is the truth)

AM showers @ 50% chance of rain/T-storms..... w/ winds at 10-15 mph not too bad, atleast not as bad as The Crucible

Dave.... you would want to get in on the ones you had a chance of hitting off the drive (if you were playing)

There are only a few tees that some Ams may not want to get in on. Even though several of the pros playing can chuck 500-600+ feet, that will only help out on 2 or 3 holes. I'm pretty sure most of the Ams can give Pros a run for their money on the other holes. #2 used to be a 3 1/2, but in the long par 4 position I think that most teams could 3 it. That also raises another question for Rand. Will #2 be a second shot CTP? #3 might be a stretch for most Ams (and pros. I've never gotten closer than 50ft out). #6 and #8 are a little long, but other than that I think that everyone has a pretty equal chance of claiming CTPs. That being said, I can't wait to take all of that sweet sweet Am CTP money from you guys

Even on my best days I can't compete with Pros on holes 2,3,4,6, & 8. So instead of giving my money away to them, I will give those $5 bucks to the Hughes family. BAAKAAA!

How are Conor and I going to defend our 4th place title if you and Griffin don't play? I don't think we could handle the attention that 3rd place is sure to garner

Clunk,

It is because of remarks of that nature that inspire me to refer to you as "Course Oaf" in this particular instance! So, hey Course Oaf, based on your last comment which is undeniably an attempt to totally undermine my final decision as the TD, I have now decided to not allow you to participate in ANY of the side action. Let me be more clear as to why. It is clear to me that your misguided opinion has ulterior motives. Let me help you understand exactly what that means: "being beyond what is seen or avowed; intentionally kept concealed". Supporting the Hughes family is the reason that I came up with the idea to hold a silent auction, please don't try to promote yourself by causing division in the tournament and acting like you alone are doing something for a better cause. Clunk, you are a former Fright Flight Open Pro Champion. Why arent others calling you out? I put plenty of thought into my decision, if you didnt want to get into the side action you should have just donated your money where you choose.

For any player that wants to get in on the CTP think about this, how many tournaments do you get to play in where every tee shot is worth $30 - $75 BUCKS? One good shot could earn you enough money to buy a new disc golf bag from Greg or a stack of plastic. Then you could walk by CLUNK and tell him how happy you are that you didnt let him mislead you.

Like I said before, I have always had one division for CTPs at FF. The only time I didnt was when the AMs played different tees.

Thanks to Rand for another great Event! It was my first Fright Flight, but won't be the last.

Thanks to all of the golfers who raised 1041.00 DOLLARS ( yes - ONE THOUSAND FOURTY ONE) for the Hughes Family!!!!!

Congrats to Nathan Skinner (hole 9), Chris Millay (hole 6  ), and Josh Woodall (new hole 13) for their aces - (Nathan and Chris also want to thank Josh for not being in the ace fund  )

Congrats to the open winners Dollar and Vach (shooting a 42 2nd round to get into the tie) in a NINE hole playoff for first with Aaron Dean/Jeff Bryk (shooting a 43 in the 1st round in the rain)(3rd), and Justin Drage/Chris Millay (2nd)
Thanks also to Aaron Dean who declined his share of the payout to maintain his AM status as that half went to the Hughes family also.

Am winners were Jason Tokio/ Kade Atkinson
Pop and Pup winners were the other Johnson family - Griffin & Bob
Mixed winners were THE Johnson family

Over $800 in CASH CTP's were paid out, with a few people winning 2 and Nathan Skinner winning 3(including the ace on 9)

Bad weather first round / Good weather second round

HUGE THANKS to GREG CAMPBELL for running the end of Event action after Rand had to leave to coach a football game, as well as the great supply of merch to choose from.

Everyone needs to do their best to get out to "theLick" this weekend and support one of the top supporters of the sport in this area and play the PPIC3!

See everyone at "theLIck"

Today we raised over $1000 for the Hughes family! I just talked to Melanie and Jason and they were overwhelmed.
Thank you everyone for participating in the silent auction as well as the baked good sales which netted $76. From what
Melanie and Jason told me, the disc golf community has contributed more than anyone else. Give yourselves a huge pat on
the back. The Hughes are home (finally after 6 months) for about 2 weeks. They wanted to tell everyone thanks for the
generosity. From me, I want to send out an e-hug to everyone who has contributed. Atlanta disc golfers rock!

BTW, my 8x Roc is still sitting at $115. Bidding ends in 15 minutes. BID!

Either Chris is 'THE' White Oak Diety, or he and the Great Pumkin are in cahoots. Either way that ace is like a Halloween Miracle! (that's not to say it was just luck, cause that dude can buzz the tower almost anytime). Sorry you had to split the ace fund man, but I am glad some of my money went to you!

Sorry guys, I will post the other divisions if I ever get a chance to have some time off. I copied the TD Report and pasted it in. The two of you likely know the scores of your divisions better than I would. I just know that you Keith and you Bob won your divisions. Feel free to post the results or wait until I can get to it.

The TD report has been turned in to the PDGA. It should be posted soon. Thanks again to all of those who sponsored the tournament and to those of you who supported the Hughes family.
