2009 Augusta Classic PDGA A-Tier September 19 and 20

Postby Ridesbrd » Mon Aug 10, 2009 10:40 am

The 2009 Augusta Classic will be held this year on September 19th and 20th in beautiful Augusta, GA. This PDGA A-tier event consistently draws a full field every year and this one will most likely do the same. After some thought the courses that will be played will be Lake Olmstead and Riverview Park in a 4 round format, on the best two courses in Augusta proper.

We will hopefully be taking a full field of 90 players for this event, i know this may not be popular with some people around here but that's the way it is and we will make it work!

Registration closes on Friday September 18th, there will be no day of registration and no exceptions! I will not be "holding" spots for anyone, if i have your money in hand you are in the tournament, again no exceptions.

On Friday Sept. 18th we will be doing best shot doubles at Lake Olmstead Park at 3:00pm and checkin/last minute registration from 3pm to 6pm. Also there is a big music and arts festival in Augusta that weekend, The Avett Brothers play on Friday at 7pm.

Given the courses and format I think this will be probably the best tournament in Georgia this year. I can't wait!
I've got more game than a busted Atari.

Registered for the tourney and looking forward to playing the in-town courses. Stayed at the lovely Masters Inn on Washington Road last year and do not wish to relive the experience. Is there any special hookup available to the Augusta DGC that would help me secure one of the limited camping sites at Riverview for Fri and Sat? Thanks.

Chris,

I am not quite sure on the camping at Riverview Park, since i have been here i have never seen anyone camp there and can not find any information online. I know where the "campground" is and seems like a neat place to camp but not sure if they are allowing it anymore?!?!? I will see what i can find out this week.....

Thanks Ridesbrd. I had sent the N.Augusta P&R an e-mail and they called me back today. I'm set for camping there for both Friday and Saturday nights. Should be cool camping on the course.

Any other players interested in camping there also are welcome to join as long as we stay within space limits of the site. You have to sign a waiver at the Activities Center with Delores, who leaves work at 4:00 each day. I can be reached at 678-733-0180 if anyone wants to sync up on camping/meals, etc...

The 2009 Augusta Classic would like to welcome aboard Nacho Mama's and Stillwater Tap room as sponsors. They will be offering a 25% off discount for all tournament players on Saturday, for lunch and/or dinner. We will be having an informal gathering at Nacho Mama's at 8pm and carry the party over to Stillwater next door!

Just wanted to give one more warning before the registration closes on friday: SIGN UP!

Looks like we are going to have an awesome pro field with 3 X World Champions and at least 6 1000 rated players. I'm predicting a heated battle in Open with Mikey J and Cam Todd now thrown in the mix..........

The courses are getting fresh cuts as we speak, Lake O should look immaculate this weekend. We have some awesome trophies made up, an impromptu players party at nacho mama's, and the IDGC will be there vending.

So get on the ball and sign up!!!
