Due to the economic climate I will need to have at least (3) pre registered in a division to offer a trophy to that division by August 14. Also, don't forget that the Open Pro vacation is still on the line. The top 5 from the Pro-Am were James Cole, Brad Hammock, Phil Arthur,Jeff Bryk and Josh Childs. The Open Pro with the top finishes from both events will receive a weeks vacation at an RCI resort of their choice. We are looking at a great CTP on the Jim Warner Memorial Island hole and at least $500 added cash to the Pro purse. 2 rounds of 18 on Saturday and a Sunday tee time of 10am. for a 27 hole finale. I hope to have the current list of players up next week. See you all soon - John

Our sponsorship in the past has been to sell ads in a tourney program to be given to each player at the event. A 1/2 page ad is $25 and a full page ad is $50. Sometimes sponsors will trade out CTP's or prizes for an ad.PM me and we'll see what you want to do. Thank you for your interest- John

The Island hole once again will be a buy-in hole. For the GA. State it will be Called The Jim Warner Motherlode Hole. I know the collection time is over for the course at the IDGC. This is just a way to keep Jim's name synonomous with the State Championships. It will either be a cash CTP or Discs. There will also be a card CTP on hole #15 during round #2 .The tourney start horn will be started on the island hole in honor of Jim also. Brother Johns Subs will be here Saturday taking orders for lunch.See you all soon - John

The course is a 24-hole course; isn't it? The island hole will be the 25th hole. Where will the other 2 be located at?

One (#25) will play from the corner of the football field across to the other end zone. I believe the second (#26) will play from beyond that up to the flag pole. Which would make the island hole #27. There's also talk of extending #23 to play a lot longer and as a Par 5. Same as the Ice Bowl a few years back.

There is no host hotel, but the Toccoa Inn and Suites are probably the cleanest and best deal in town.I have always received positive feedback from the players who stay here. They have sponsored our events at times. Their number is 706-886-1048.

Yes, the Toccoa Inn is the place to be, they have normal rooms, and some villas or something like that for those wanting more.

Last year I would say there was about 30+ disc golfers there on Saturday night.

Whatever you do, stay away from the Days Inn the place is a dump.

The Contry Inn and Suites is also OK.

Does it matter? Is that one hole the difference between you playing and not playing?

I'd say, yes, it will be in the long position.

If I can get #23 moved to the Ice bowl position, it will play on Sunday. The park maintenance has no problem with it. I have to pass it through the park director.I will hopefully know something from him this week. It's a good long position hole. It would never be permanent though.

Why the personal attack? I was asking a legitimate question. John doesn't spend much time on this board. He and I have talked at great length about the extra holes for this tournament. So, I am responding on something that I know a great deal about. There's no reason to call me stupid. The Hillbilly Jim comparison was all in jest. I don't even know you.

If #23 is moved, the basket will be between/beside the 2 telephone poles near the entrance of the park.

You know pros are notorious for waiting til the last minute. 1 Open and 3 Masters so far listed with 37 spots left.

For historical purposes there were: 19 and 12 in 2007 - along with 14 and 8 last year.

Worse case scenario, we can make a killer 4 some.

Just a heads up. The mando for those playing the long tees on #13 is no longer in play. #8 has a slightly different pin position and #23 will be long at 645'. The Pro field is coming along as always. See you all in a couple of days. - John

I second Chris' remarks. Throw in the two nights camping at Tallulah Gorge including a sunset hike following Saturday's rounds and I can't imagine a better weekend. Toccoa rules!

John: Cast my vote for the 27-hole Sunday format. Even had time to play 19-27 prior to the round as a warm up.

Congrats to Bob Johnson on his first PRO Masters win!

Bob played solid STEADY golf and is also a good comedian to have along in the group - which made the 5some suck less.

Seeing Bob step up even drove Woody to play Grandmasters to avoid him. Next year I'll be able to do the same.

Great job as always by John and the Nisewonder family who were always keeping water filled, doing scorecards and keeping Lorelei company while I played.

Even though I was the ONLY Pro Master to not cash, the good part was it at least allowed me to head to Lake Russell earlier to get the course ready. :( :(

Thanks guys - did you slip everyone a 20 bucks to lay down to get rid of me?

I think it is a pro ploy. They let you win a lil' one and then bilk you for years to come... Thanks for the kudos.

Congrats to Tom and Rick Greer as the formidable father-son duo. That is a good one for the family scrapbook. Rick is a great guy, and Tom is a good player and youngster. Don't listen to anybody calling you a bagger at age 10 or however old you are. And I hate that you both beat me  Where is the novice division when I need one?

Don't feel so bad Matt, Tom can whip you at Disc Golf, but you can drive, vote, and DRINK(as evidence proved on Saturday night, and still made it for Sunday's rounds!)

I too would like to congratulate Tom and AGAIN discourage him from moving up until he has to, as I am trying to win one, and there is already plenty of good competition in Advanced.
Unfortunately for me, with that round he had on Sunday, the move to Advanced will be soon and I look forward to competing against him.

All scores and ratings are up on the PDGA site.Congrats to all the winners and players. Bob, you're a great addition to the masters division. You got game and you know all of our songs from back in the day. Also, congrats to Scott Wheeler for coming from behind to take Mitch Armour in a 3 hole playoff for the advanced grand masters.Let me know your thoughts on the Sunday round of 27 holes. Did you like it? Would you rather do 2-18's? A final 9? Stay with the 27 holes? Looking for some feedback. Thanks - John

2 24's on Saturday, then 27 Sunday would have allowed me to be further out of cash, so as I told you on Saturday, I would like to vote for that format please.

I really liked the 2 18s and then 27 - especially if we are leaving it at 5-somes. I thought it worked out well.

I had fun playing with you guys too. It was way more laid back than I thought it would be. I thought all the pros were tight-faced and serious on the course - turns out it is just guys like Grease who are that way.

See you next year

But with 2 24's you could go with 4 somes - have 6 more players - and still play in the same time as 2 18's with 5 somes took.
When the 27 holes were played in mostly 4 somes and some 3 somes with a few open holes the round took LESS time than playing the 18 holes and there was almost no time spent waiting at any of the usual backup areas for the 18 holes.

By the way, I heard the guy who was the most laid back was the only one who didn't cash - maybe that guy should go back to being a full time pain in the butt, so he can have a chance again at some of that first place cash.

It appears the only times that you have ever cashed are twice this year. I believe both times have been under the new heading of "Laid Back Keith", not "Anal, Mad, Aggressive, Caveman Keith". Just sayin!!

Maybe "Laid Back Keith" should just stick to running quality events for people like Bobby to continue winning in.

Yes, this would be my suggestion, play 2 24's saturday and a 1 round sunday of 27! For the 24 hole round play it like last years where we skip 23 and 24 and play 25 tee to 26 basket and hole 24 is island. :D

I really liked the 2- 18 on Saturday and 1- 27 on Sunday - I see no reason to change it.
But then again, I'm lazy and 48 in one day sounds like a lot.
A final 9 or some kind of Safari 4 for the top pros would be fun to watch as well. Doesn't matter to me - I'll be there regardless.
Thanks again for a great tourny John and family!

I actually commented to Michael and Rob on Sunday that I liked the current setup. The tourney in April absolutely wears me out; 48 holes in one day is tough. It might be cool to add a final 9 holes at the end for the top pros. I know I would enjoy watching it.

I still think that just four rounds of 18 would be best. You could even cut out a hole, like nine perhaps, that kind of gets in the way and use the island hole for 18 all four rounds.

So what's in your right hand Woody? Did you swipe the donation jar for Jerry's Kids at the
Quickie Mart? in all seriousness, congratulations to you all! I'm especially proud of Funky Bobby,
and am looking forward to playing with him in the Pro Masters division. I hope he can handle my
tight faced tournament play.
Fart, it's never not funny!

I enjoyed the format, love the course, and had a good weekend. Could have done without the yellow jackets on hole 6, but at least im not allergic! :| :| :!:

Can you imagine the transition from 18 to the island? I think John's family would be using the golf carts to shuttle us around.

It is very little different than the transition from 18 to hole 1? It is probably exactly the same distance.
