Danny Noonan Doubles May 3rd/ Tee Pad Fundraiser

Postby volsfandl » Thu Apr 23, 2009 7:40 pm

To celebrate 5 years of doubles at The Lick, May's Dubs will be Danny Noonan format.

A portion of the proceeds form this event will go towards installing tee pads for the remaining holes on the course.

The rules are as follows:

The big difference is the format. The game is scored the same as always, but you are ENCOURAGED to hassle other players before, during, and after their shots.

Air horns, dogs, children, and any and all other types of distractions are valid.

As a TD, I may penalize someone for not standing behind the basket when someone else is lined up to putt.

You may not physically touch any other player while he/she is throwing and you cannot stand in front of a player while he/she is throwing or physically alter the flight of the disc in any way.

Entry fee and payouts:

Basic entry fee: $7

$2 of this will go toward the tee pad fund; the other $5 will of course go towards payout.

Primo Plastic is generously donating CTP's ranging from $10 - $35 in value. There will be 1 CTP per hole for a total of $18.

You can also buy mulligans for $1 each with a maximum of 5 per player.

There will be an additional $1 ace fund which already has $37 in the pot.

THE BIG PRIZE:

With celebrating 5 years of dubs at The Lick we will also have a throw off for a basket raffle on old hole 4. For those of you that don't know that's the tee pad that sits ~130 ft. from the current long 3 positions basket.
This will be $1 per throw or $3 for 5. Each shot within the 10 ft. circle gets you a ticket. Each ace gets you 2 tickets.
We'll start this at 12:30 do it again immediately after the tournament.

Greg Campbell is being super generous as always to try to help us get concrete tee pads. Barring all of the Noonan shenanigans, this is also great practice for the GSSS. So please spread the word and help us get one step further in finalizing this course.

WHOOO HOOO!

I'll already be there EARLY in the morning to clean, flag and get set for the GSSS Event the next week.

Can whoever has the keys please move 3 and 7 long (preferably before dubs so people can practice, or after if not) so it will be in position for the GSSS?

See everyone there,

Sorry about that. I realized what I had done and it wouldn't be Deer Lick dubs if it wasn't on a Sunday. I can't be there early that Sunday, but I don't mind doing a few things to help before that. Hole 14 needs some work as always. I'll be at the course this afternon and I'll let you know what needs the most attention.

Wade has offered to help, as well as Greg in the past, so hopefully there won't be too much to do.

This should be a blast! We've talked about this for years. This is your chance to
behave like you've always wanted to in a tournament situation. It's all about
distracting the other players. I hope this becomes a tradition.

As this is a fund raiser, I would like to ask for donations for CTP's. They do not have to be disc golf
oriented as this is a Danny Noonan tourney. WE would like to get as much schwag as possible. Any old
tourney or Barry Manilow t-shirts, viking helmets, stuffed moose heads, whatever. Thanks in advance
and I look forward to seeing this go down.

I'll be there! I've always wanted to play a round this way. Anyone in the Larryville area want to carpool? I'd like to leave around 10 to help the clean-up and practice. PM me if interested.

Grease are you looking for desirable items for CTP's or can they be gag prizes?

Either or is fine. Your flugelhorn from 8th grade will be fine. We just want a bunch of stuff for ctp's to hopefully
raise money.

I think that in honor of Dave Douglas who will be playing left-handed - we should all have to drive hole 1 with our off hand (in other words - stranger) - and it should be a CTP

Just a suggestion

I think that if anyone aces hole 1 with their opposite hand, the group should pay
$10 per person or $2 for metal. BTW, Bobby said "drive" with your opposite
hand. You can finish out regular, right?

I hope a lot of you will be making this Sunday. We will have lots of schwag for ctps as
well as a basket (skillshot) raffle. All of this to warm up for the GSSS 3 and to raise money
for concrete tee pads. Not to mention that you get to work the other players in your group.

One more update:

This is still random draw format, but anyone that donates valid CTP's can request to be in the same foresome as another player. I can't promise that this will work for everyone, but I'll accomodate as well as I can. It's obviously much more fun when you can work someone that you know.

HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE.

WE RAISED $437 FOR THE COURSE.

Big thanks to Grease for the idea, donating the skill shot, and running the raffle.

Big thanks to Rowdy, DD, and Funky Bobby with all of the set up help.

Big thanks to everyone that brought CTP's and bought in for the CTP's (way too many to name). I thought Chris had the best CTP with the Caddy Shack DVD until CHOP brought the Hello Kitty razor scooter.

I think everyone had a lot of fun. There are a few images from today that I wish I could strike from my memory  , but it was a blast. It was great to see some old faces from all over town. I don't know if this will be an annual event, but we'll probably do one again some time in the future. Thanks again.

That was a great event. Not every day you get to play Danny Noonin dubs. It might make a great Clash video...if we were all recognizable pro's...but then again Danny Noonin was as an Am...go figure.

I vote to bring back Danny Noonin Dubs. I'll even donate some discs for prizes.
