2009 Atlanta Open AM Weekend March 14-15th at East Roswell

Postby Randgolf » Wed Oct 22, 2008 8:53 pm

We are proud to announce that the 2009 Atlanta Open will be part of the National Tour Series. The Dates will be March 28-29th 2009.

Sign up online now at http: http://www.theatlopen.com

Only five months out, so start thinking about how you can help put on a great event for players that will come from far and wide.

Jeff Gomez will be the TD for the A tier for Ams to run the same weekend. Thanks to Imran again for all of the hard work that he put in during the past two years! More to come so save questions for later or at least until Fright Flight is over.

This is a huge opportunity for Atlanta disc golf.

National Tour Atlanta Open will be held at ERP and Central. After much effort we have finalized these two courses to keep the AO running as originally planned. PRO NT field limited to 90 players. 65 spots will be reserved for MPO and FPO players. This means that all age protected divisions will share 25 spots, first come first serve. ONLINE REGISTRATION ONLY!!! Absolutley no favors or holding spots. If you want to play, pay your entry fee online. Since the age protected pro divisions are all playing the same tees same days as MPO all divisions are eligible to qualify for the USDGC. ONLY FIVE SPOTS WILL BE AWARDED TO THE BEST FIVE SCORES (AMs are not eligible for the USDGC spots unless they play PRO).

Sign up online now at http: http://www.eatsleepdisc.com

Sat March 28th 2009 ERP two rounds from the black tees (MPO, FPO, MPM, MPG)

Not trying to be that first person to ask questions about it, since Rand specifically asked not to ask him, but could someone (Gomez) clarify if this is the current plan?
All four rounds at ERP, and NO Central? Isn't that called LITW?
And March 14-15? Same weekend as Meeks Madness?
Just curious?

As State Coordinator, I already called Rand to ask for clarification on the dates ONLY, as he did not mention it yesterday at
White Oak when we were talking. If the dates are accurate then Meeks would have to move do to the milage restictions.

We are working on making it happen for those dates and NO it is not the Lost in Woods. There has never been a two day A tier in Roswell for Ams. Sorry to Matthew as we dont want to infringe on his date, but we already made Keith move and we were not given a choice for dates to run the NT. We take what we get. Matthew, bump your event up one week and then we have all weekends covered for March. Sorry man...

Rand and Gomez,

Would it be possible to split the Pro and Am message threads into two separate threads. This would help dullards like me keep up with the event that I will play in vs. the one that I will spectate upon. It would be nice to play the same course(s) as the pros but at least I will get to see them play this year.

Am registration should be up this week.

Please note, if you're planning on playing in an age protected division during the NT you need to sign up fast. Reserved/limited spots will keep many people from playing. Take note and sign up now. Open Pros - you will be getting a similar notice before the year is over, so play it smart and sign up now.

Am AO sign ups should be up in the next day. There is a lot going on behind the scenes to make this event great. Just know that good things are taking place, so dont be mislead by the lack of action on this thread as of late. Hole sponsorships are still on the market, so help us out with that if you can. Thanks!

Thanks to many of you the National Tour courses are filled with hole sponsors. Now we need to work on filling ERP with hole sponsors for the Am weekend. If you would like to sponsor a hole at ERP for the Am weekend please let me know.

ERP Atlanta Open AM Hole Sponsor

Cost = $25

Name on tee sign
Champion CFR disc with the NT stamp

Thanks for helping us meet the PDGA guidlines. With your help we will exceed our goals and provide a great payout for all divisions.

Two Things:

#1: Who do I need to contact about sponsoring an AM hole?

#2: At the NT event, if we want to come and spectate, can we bring animals (i.e. can I bring my dog)?

The National Tour Holes have now all been spoken for. Moving on to the Ams we have only 26 of 36 holes left to sponsor. Please contact me if you would like to sponsor one of the holes during the Atlanta Open Am weekend March 14-15th 2009.

Cost to sponsor a hole = $25
Each hole sponsor will get a Champion CFR disc and name/logo on given hole.

Here is a list of what is up for grabs for Am hole sponsors:

Champion CFR Glo Firebird L
Champion CFR Glo Sindwinder
Champion CFR Destroyer
Champion CFR Gator

Rand,

The ATLOPEN Website needs to have some changes done to both the Schedule and Format screens as they are still showing the Info from last year.

I've had a few AMS ask about Central, even though they aren't playing Central, because it still shows that way on the ATLOPEN website.

Thanks again for all the hard work and it's good to see several states will be coming to visit!

It might be a good idea to get a couple of signs/flyers up letting the Barney's know the courses will be closed on the day of the tourney's. I was at ERP yesterday and was amazed how many people were there playing.

Barney's are simple folk who need alot of signage up telling them what to do, where to go, etc...The signs could also be a nice invitation to ask them to come and be spectators as well. Especially attractive women who are in to chubby disc golf players named Vern.

Me and Carl met this one Barney at ERP yesterday. He tried to say he was a pro player and even tried to make up some fabrication that he was actually the tourney TD. Said his name was Rand or something. Really nice guy but he didn't fool us. 8)

Great pics! You could call that slideshow "A Fist Full Of BAGGERS!" What an amazing gathering of the BAGGERS. No wonder it is such a dreary weekend.

Thanks Gomez and Rand for the great work on the tournament, and to all the volunteers who put out the tee-pad signs, spotters on 4 and 16, and helped with all the scoring in between rounds. Best 4 rounds of golf I have played in a really, really long time (check the stats), so I would also like to thank unemployment for taking the time to allow me to practice so much. Hopefully that will end sooner rather than later.

Can't wait to see the NT and all the fun that will be here with that.

Guys,

The AM Open was great!!! Thanks to all for one of the best tourney's of the year; even though it was really, really, really, really, really wet.

We had 5 guys from Chattanooga finish in the top 12; we are having a tourney on April 19 in Chattanooga. It's your turn to come up north and take our prize $$.

thanks again!!!

Gomez, The pdga site has "sanctioning pending" for your tournament. All round ratings have been taken away. What did you do? Or what didn't you do?

Kade,
Once the results go "official" from unofficial the ratings go away also and you'll have to wait until the next ratings update in May to see the official ratings.

Until the TD submits the report to the PDGA it will show the ratings for the Event online.

Hope this helps.
