well... it was going smoothly... :? j/k fellas

Pro CTP's
Hole #3 = $1
Hole #6 = $1
Hole #17 = $1
Hole #8 = $2 (2nd shot)

Am CTP's
Hole #2 = $1
Hole #15 = $1
Hole #11 = $1
Hole #1 = $2 (2nd shot)

Rec. Division = choice of CTP's from any division with no limits of how many.... meaning that they can buy-in all CTP's = $10 Yes Pro's & Am's!!!, they can take your CTP money!!! This gives them a chance to win some money. I am not sure how many players will play Rec Division, thus Rec. Division is free to play

Pro Division will be playing from the Gold tee's, and Black Tee's on holes No. 1 & 13

Am Division will be playing from the Gold Tee's

Rec. Division will play from the Blue Tee's

Cold wet and fun. (Insert Necrophilia joke here)

It was a bit soupy but the course still looked and played great. This was the first time that I was able to try out the concrete pads on a wet day. They worked awesome!

Thanks Josh for running the action (possible perm. TD?). I want everyone to know that the course ate my lunch after hole 8. I did not recieve a par untill a reached #18.

Looking forward to Jan 31st! Ba-Kaw!

You must be newly married or haven't conditioned your wife properly to have avoided this situation?

I have not gone Xmas shopping (or any other kind of shopping that doesn't include power tools) for at least 6 years!
If you are newly married here is how to condition your wife so you will never have to be dragged out again.

Mission Unshoppable, Dress all in black and when you get to the store say to her that you need to get one thing before you can help her. Then bolt off in any direction humming the Mission Impossible theme song (dun, dun dun, dun, dun dun, dun, dun dun, Doo doloo, Doo doloo etc... ) You do not actually have to be looking for something but make sure she sees you crawling under clothes racks, creeping on all fours down aisles and hiding behind support posts. If she doesn't leave you at the store at that moment, come back after 15 mins. like nothing ever happened and continue shopping. Deny that you did anything that she saw you do vehemently! Repeat this process one more time and then the third time she announces she wants to go shopping get out the black clothes and excitedly announce that you want to go too!! Don't worry you won't!

I don't like the idea of having No.4 as a CTP beacuase of the last 4 times I've played out there, no one in our group even got close to having a decent putt on that basket (unless you count mine flying down 5's fairway and having to putt back at the basket) :? . I'm not saying it's still a bad hole, just not one I'm going to have a CTP on.
*Another reason I changed it was to spread the CTP's out so they aren't all in-a-row.

Pro.................................................Am
1 2$ (2nd shot)..................................3
7 ..................................................5
11 ................................................ 9 2$ (2nd shot)
15................................................. 16

Josh, Donnie, JPZ, anyone who plays there - Do you expect or get people to play another round after the one round is over?

It's a long drive (1.5 hours) for only 1 round of action - especially to a place I've never seen before, but if others will be sticking around for some side action, I will definately come down - as I'm hoping that the Hotlanta Event gets moved to a weekend that doesn't involve Worlds and I'll get to play it. I'd like to have a chance to see the course before the Hotlanta Event, but if not this weekend it looks VERY unlikely as now is when my tournament travel, course prep and GSSS Event running schedule starts, leaving me about 10 free weekends until November.

I would definately like to see this course, and get some competitive play in if others are willing to stick around and play with some cash on the line.

Definity...there is always some extra action avail. even if it's just casual.
W/ the amount of players expected to be there, there should for sure be something (doubles-singles-ect...) going on.
If every one else leaves, not going to happen, I will personally show you around the finer points of our beautiful course.
Daniel has really put together a jewel down here.

the reason for one round is that it doesn't last all day and lunch is very flexible (no time limits).... the only tiem we didn't play a second round was when it was raining and 38* :|

I also do one round so we can have doubles, singles, wolf, whatever for a second round.

I've had the chainsaw out 3 different times and when said tree's were mentioned, there was a big "hush-hush" feeling afterwards. Those trees aren't going anywhere... :?
Ateast one of them needs to be removed (the middle one, mostly in the line of a great shot)

Stats for monthly -- didn't post the Rec stats as there were only 3 in the division

My sheet kicked out an SSA of 56.79, but this is highly distorted b/c the scorecards don't have last names on the am cards, so it's basically only the pro's scores. Maybe add 1.5....i'd guess SSA ~58-58.5?

interesting holes:
only 1 birdie on #4 & #13...some pain felt on #13! #4 also had 3rd lowest standard deviation (scoring spread) :)
no birdies on #10, #12 & #18
#15 - #17 = the 3 easiest holes

You're missing the scores of Woody and Brad who tied with 55 and 1 more person as there were 13 pros.

More rounds = more money

I have done my best to keep it cheap and easy to organize. It takes a bit of time to get everything ready and I don't like being scrambled before the round (TD effect) The past 2 Last Saturday action I have had no warm ups or practice putts..... that's no way to start a round!!
I don't want to ask for more $ to run the action... but 2 rounds for 10 bucks is really low compared to other action.

What is "Wolf"? I have no idea what game type that is as I have never heard of it before. Just wanted to know because if it seems cool I might try it some time.

Top post updated with new information and a Poll for people who like to vote or voice their thoughts.

It is something I have thought a great deal about and have been wondering if more people would show if there was 2 rounds instead of one.

With 2 rounds, the price would be raised up a bit....something like:
Pro = $20 action + $5 CTP's
Am = $10 action + $5 CTP's
Rec = steal CTP's from Pro/Am players.. ... and $5 action (if enough show and want to get some action started) No sandbaggers !! You will be called out 8)

Please vote and if you have any thoughts, questions, or comments, feel free to post that as well. (Except Keith Johnson)...... just kidding Keith!!! We all learn something new each time we're in your presence

Just a thought, but you may have a larger turnout if it were on a Sunday. It would eliminate the conflicts with the one day tournaments that already fill the calendar. As we have more and more courses popping up, I think we can expect to see at least one PDGA tournament every week in the next couple of years. We may even get to a point that tournaments will have to double up on the same weekends like the JP and ATL Ice bowls. I know many times after a one day event I still want to play Sunday as well and would like some local action, but If I have to choice on a Saturdays I will usually give priority to a PDGA sanctioned tournament on that day.

I'm trying to stay Gomez free!
Thanks for the idea though..... Maybe next year we can move to Sunday, but it'll be Saturdays for the rest of this year.
I am trying to keep a day open for my motorcycle riding and Sunday is the best for me.

I know that there are more and more tournaments each weekend, but most of the folks that are at the last saturday action don't do many tournaments (including myself).

The Poll will end on next Friday.... 4-24-09.

If there are more votes for 2 rounds, then that's what we will do for Saturday's action. (and for the rest of the year)

I have not cast a vote and will not do so. I'm offended!

So far, 9 people have voted :|

Brian, Sun. probably would bring in more players but ...on Sundays down here on the Southside, most like to show-up @ P-nut Dubs out at Redan.

Josh , you know that 15 is now a par 4 and if we can, it should be the $2 CTP for both divisions making it/

Pro CTP's
Hole # 15 = $2 (2nd shot)
Hole # 3 = $1
Hole #6 = $1
Hole #14 = $1

Am CTP's
Hole #4 = $1
Hole #11 = $1
Hole #2 or 16 = $1
Hole #15=$2 (2nd shot) I know that Pro's have the same CTP.... I just wanted to see how it plays out

15 votes so far..... :|

2 Rounds is in the lead.

Let me state again that if there are 2 rounds we will raise the price of both divisions.... meaning more money to play and more money to win/lose

With 2 rounds, the price would be raised up a bit....something like:
Pro = $20 action + $5 CTP's = $25 all-in
Am = $10 action + $5 CTP's = $15 all-in
Rec = steal CTP's from Pro/Am players.. ... and $5 action (if enough show and want to get some action started) No sandbaggers !! You will be called out 8)

Rec players will have the option to play for $$ at each action..... we'll vote during sign ups

I need the update for the CTP holes ..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 and 15 can't both be ctp's for am.---can they?- both 2nd shots
suggest: pulling a reachable par 3 from the pros and putting it w/ the ams
then making like 7 or 17 the $1 for the pros...

or is 15 for the ams. a 2nd shot $1 CTP????? WTF... More anxiety than being held at gunpoint w/ an AK-47

hit me up Djester, I'm trying to fix CARDS

Top post updated with the right CTP's :?

I think that Pro's & Am's should play from the Black tee on 13 and make it par 5, and river style O.B. for the walking path, and O.B. over the fence. Re tee from the same Tee box.
Rec's will play from the Blue Tee box on 13 (Par 5).

I've been away from the computer the past two days....sorry.

The vote has ended and is left with a tie, so I guess we'll have a vote on 1 or 2 Rounds. (if anyone shows up).

I have been thinking of ways to raise funds for the sun shelters throughout the course.
Locations:
Hole No. 12's bench
Hole No. 8's bench
and maybe Hole No. 2's bench (thoughts are welcome)
I had thought about putting one at Hole No. 17's bench, but it is already pretty shaded in that area.... maybe a later date for that one. Another placement could be at Hole No. 10's bench area.
That makes for 5 sun shelters for the course, but only 2-3 with priorities (No. 12, 8 & 2, with No. 2 being the last in construction)

Idea:
I am thinking about making the $2 CTP's into $1 payouts and putting the other $1 into the "Course Fund Bag" and when enough money is gathered up, we can go forth adn install the much needed Sun shelters before it gets really hot.

The ideal situation would be to get this done before Chris & Dan's Hotlanta tourney.

If Dan needs some tree's removed, we can use those as the "posts" for the sun shelter. That would leave us with only the framing and concrete to pay for. I have aquired the roofing materials at a very good price so that is taken care of. 8)

If anyone can get some lumber materials IE: 2x4's , bags of concrete at a good price, that would be very sweet!

I have posted this in it's own thread as well so feel free to comment in both sections

Top post is updated with new info for the Last Saturday, July 25, 2009

Come on out and have some single round fun!

As always, additional rounds of action are always an option. We usually will take a lunch break, then brew more action. Could be doubles, singles, wolf, or works (though the only one that knows the rules are Woody and he never comes) 8)

I am not aware of any tournaments going on this weekend so there should be a decent turnout of atleast 3-4 people  Edit: Worlds is going on so it may draw a few away from the action, still expect atleast 3-4 people to show!!

Update for Last Saturday Action in top post.... 8)

I hope that you will all be going to the Primo Plastic Intergalactic Challenge instead, since it is the same weekend (link): http://www.discgolfatlanta.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1766 Sign up for it now....Do it!!!!

If you cannot afford Grease's Tournament or just got a speeding ticket (like me) then come on out for some great golf at Moseley!!!

p.s. I will be looking forward to working on the course instead of playing Last Saturday Action (unless those of you that show up want to play the action) I'm not pushing anyone away.... just saying that the P.P.I.C. is a tournament that you don't want to miss... I was going to play, but I do want to miss jail time and pay my ticket

I fixed the date in the first post for those that couldn't figure it out on thier own, thanks JPZ!!!

I'm going to have to try rubbing down in diesel fuel like you mentioned... (then removed the post) :P

I'm predicting atleast 4-5 players for action!!! 8)

last I heard, Randy was buying lunch!
If I hit an ace, I'll buy everyones lunch.....how's that? (lunch would be packs of crackers from the gas station)

I forgot that we changed the pin position on hole 8, so I moved the CTP to hole 9  and it will be a 3rd shot CTP.... fixed in top post. 8)

I am thinking of making the CTP's all the same amount in the future, but for now, they'll stay as is.

Thanks to all that came out to play!
Pro Division
Brad wins with a 54
McCoy takes 2nd @ 55
The Dude snakes 3rd on his first time playing the course = 56
the rest of us were losers... :?
Am Division
Plotky takes first shooting a 58
Andrew & Randy tied for second and decided to split the money

From now on if you don't mark a CTP, you lose it!! Hole 4 really didn't matter as Kevin parked it within 4 ft. I can't help but feel that The Dude got pissed from the deal.... (he went straight to the car and I didn't see him afterwards) my putt was right at 40ft from the basket and it was said that his was at 50ft.... I didn't want to ruin his first time playing Moseley and I hope it didn't leave a bad taste in his mouth. Sorry Bro!

I'll be out htere this Saturday at 10 am.

If anyone thinks they can take the course pro then I have $10 (maybe $5) to say that they are right! :P

Low dollar action. Singles, doubles, odd-dog singles, wolf, etc. Decided upon if people actually show up. This Saturday the 31st.

BTW the course looks great. All the grass has been mowed.

ok.... just noticed that this will be the 1 year anniversary of Last Saturday Action this month.... 8)

We are not having CTP's for this event, so the payout will be sweet for both divisions. (You hear that Am's ??)

I'll also be throwing in a free anniversary CTP for anyone playing... Pro's, Am's & Rec's on hole #5 from the new pad. CTP will be a suprise, but I can say that it will be worth more than your buy-in for the action

Thanks to all that have came out for each event.

**Next year we may start a course fund by taking a dollar from each player at each event and giving it to Dan... He will then put it towards buying baskets for the proposed extra wooded holes that may be going in as soon as we raise enough funds. We may make it an object course till the funds are raised. The layout is sweet with a mix of techincal medium-short shots & elevation changes that require placement to aquire par or better. We're hoping to make some headway on this, this winter.

Also want to the Dan for all his efforts, and Wade for being there everytime work is scheduled. JPZ & crew have put tons of time into the course as well. Joey for keeping an eye on the course and helping on workdays too. And anyone else I forgot to mention.... thanks!!!

Looking forward to another year of fun every last Saturday at Moseley

Is the format same as before with seperate action for ams and pros? I kinda
like the random draw thing so that you get to play with different people. Thinking
about coming out to Moseley Saturday.

Are you talking about mixing Pro's and Am's ? I haven't tried that but we can give it a shot.
Action is seperate for Pro's and Am's.
Pro's = $20
Am's = $10
Rec's = free w/ option to make up their own action

One CTP for everyone (Hole 5's new pad/route)

We can draw cards or flip discs.... I've never done that before I but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night

You've never played random draw doubles before? I coud've sworn you played at Oregon
years ago, as well as Redan and East Roswell. It's easy, everyone pays the same, then
you draw cards or flip discs for your partner.

ahhh... you left out the key word "doubles". I thought when you said random draw, that it pertained to how we set up groups during singles play. Threw me a curve ball!!! I think doubles coule be interesting at Moseley and if it is voted in, I'd still like to have 2 divisions being Pro & Am.

I'll leave it up to everyone to decide on Saturday.

We've always done singles in the past, even when I allowed a vote on it. There was one time we played "wolf", but I don't recall us ever playing doubles.

If we do doubles, we could still have the anniversary CTP on hole 5.

A few folks have commented that they can only stay for one round.... thus I will have a separate action for the "single rounders".

The prize won't be as grand as the "2 rounders", but it will be significant enough for a free prize.

Hope that folks will come out for some golf!

Just curious... Is this event still running? If so, I am assuming we are still on for Saturday 7-31. Where do the players meet?

With so many tournaments going on almost every weekend, we haven't had done action for the last few months. I'll be out at Flyboy Aviation on the 31st for the Hotlanta warm up.
Maybe JPZ will run it, but he'll probably go to Flyboy as well.

Players meet at hole 1

It's on for This Saturday!!! We're gonna brew some kind of action sings/dubs/skins, whichever the masses (or lack thereof) prefer. I know of at least 4 people coming, and everyone else is welcome! What time should we brew it up? 10 or 11?

I just played this course for the first time a few days ago. Awesome course! Is the last Saturday of the month going to actually happen tomorrow (31st)? Or should I just go play Alexander(never been here before)?

I like K-Macks idea on having the sanctioned club singles and such...

How many locals/people could we attract for regular action at the Mose?
