Pam B Childs Memorial Tournament PDGA C-Tier 22 Nov 08

Postby Ridesbrd » Fri Nov 07, 2008 10:31 am

The IDGC is proud to host the Pam B Childs Memorial Tournament which will be run by Paul Batman Childs, on November 22nd 2008.

Here is his post to our yahoo group:

Hey All,

The entry fees for Pam B Childs Memorial Tournament will be along the lines of the monthly tourney held by Jason. $35 for pros and $25 for all Ams non PDGA members $10 extra. But I am adding a toy to the entry fee for toys for tots, or $10 if you do not bring a toy. When Pam worked at Food Lion she was involved with the Toys for Tots program so I would like to carry on this tradition . Tee signs will be $20 for those of you who would like to help and always ctps are fun and needed so please let me know if you can help. Thanks in advance for your support and that of the PDGA for without them I could not do this.

BATMAN

So please come out and support this worthy cause!

Donations for tee signs can be made to Batman or myself, the idea is to buy a sign for a lost loved one, $20.

More details to follow..........

Thanks,

Jason Allind

Wish I could be there. All due respects to the Childs family. I hope there's a huge turnout for this.

I have a call in to Batman now, he was supposed to stop by yesterday and finalize everything. I think the rain deterred him, but i should have all details posted by tomorrow.

I would like to play the Jim Warner course and the Steady Ed, because of light restraints this will probably be happening. The Warner has natural teepads and no tee signs as of now, heck we haven't even shot the distances yet. So If we do play that course it would be pretty rough still.

Could someone post directions? How long does it take to drive from Marietta?
Is there pre-registration, or just sign up on Sat AM?
Thanks,

Just got done shooting distances on the Jim Warner course, and it should be up on the course directory soon!

Looks like a 7440 course with holes:

Under 300= 5

300-400= 3

Over 400= 10

Probably looking at a par 65 ish, and it has discraft chainstar baskets. There will be natural tees until Spring '09.

Thanks for holding this Paul, It was great to see the turnout for a good cause on a course that upon seeing it at 7:30 in the morning became one of my top 4 courses in GA.

I hope that the money raised and toys donated make the holidays better for those it was intended for.

Thanks to Jason for doing all of the TD type stuff, and posting scores.
Thanks to everyone who had a hand in the course work and prep.
Thanks to all who secured and served the FREE BBQ and the extras which were delicious.

I look forward to playing there again in 6 months when the temp is above 35 degrees for a high, and I can hold on to my discs (or release them at the right time) and for my score for the last 9 holes to stay as it was for the first 9 in the second round (2 over par 54 for first 9 holes -to 12 over par 54 for last 9 holes) which will allow me to place in the money, instead of fallling out of it.

Driving back home reminded me of the last conversation I had with my mother while driving back from the Augusta Classic in June of 2006 which was 2 days before she died.
We had a great talk then, and I had a great conversation with my grandmother this time on the way back which puts all the BS in the world and Disc Golf in perspective.

Thanks again Paul for an Event that had a special meaning and cause for you and your family.

Take care,
Keith
