We (myself, Mikey, Jason Hughes, and Wade Selph) walked the course today and did a little bit of tweaking.
The layout is real nice right now, but may need some input from everyone to help make it perfect. The land
is amazing, and with help and recommendations from the players, this could be the best course in GA. Please
do your best to make the fundraiser so that you can be a part of making this course awesome.

Logo needs a lake with some huge tentacles reaching outta the lake grabbing a basket; 'tis much too serene for disc golf.

Parks cut the grass the other day so the course looks awesome. I can not wait to play to some actual baskets!

On a side note,..... yellow jackets suck!! and I do not mean the Georgia Tech ones.

(McDonalds, Little Ceasers, Zaxby's or Subway are the nearest)

I will have water coolers out. No need for any OB rope on this course.(yet)

If you have any of the little flags, you could bring them for the CTP markers.

A couple of us will be out at the park tomorrow 11/8/08 working on the course.

Should be out there about 9am to 1pm or so if you want to join us.

We will be clearing some paths between holes and removing some tree limbs and so forth.

If you just want to come by and throw some plastic, you are welcome to do that also.
(baskets are not there yet, but there are some flags)

Yep!!

That is hole 17.

The basket for 16 sits in that group of 3 trees on the left side of the picture, then 17 tees off over the lake to a peninsula green.

Yep... Thats the plan.

Pros / Advanced off the long
All Amateur/Rec off the shorts.

Only Hole 2, 3, 4 & 17 will have short tees for Sunday.

Bring your lunch unless you want to leave the park. There is a McDonalds about 1/2 mile from the park.

I looked at the layout on Google Earth Pro and from what my mind imagine's for that tract........You outdid yourself Mr. Dames.......I know I will have a great time no matter how well I play.......You got the most you could out of the land.

Heck yeah! That was a great time at a great course. Thanks again to Mike D, Wade and everyone else who had a hand in this. Can't wait for the course to go in.

Side note: Lost a orange Atl Open destroyer on 17. Cleared the peninsula. Should be in the water on the other side and just left of the basket.

Other than that it was a great day!

If you did not make it out you missed it. It was a great day. Okay so the wind was cold and my game was just okay. Come out and see the course. I want to thank all that made today happen. I was glad to see not only did we have all "temp" baskets in place but we had more than enough baskets. Thank you Mike D for setting up and running this event. Before the next event you might want to get out and walk some.

Thanks to you Mike for all of your hard work!

My only criticism is the placement of the tee pads. There is so much land out there that there should not be uphill/downhill teepads. (#4 is the one that sticks out the most... also the second hole after the downhill wooded hole) I think some of the pads could have moved 15' forward or backward and it would have helped alot. I know the course is very premature and the installation of concrete teepads could resovle this so this issue is not that major but I would like it to be considered once it moves closer to becoming permanent.

The course itself is great and the land/park is simply made for disc golf!

Thanks for the feedback. Rest assured, when the teepads are placed they will be level. We will be doing concrete teepads, so all of them will be level even if it means some heavy digging.

Changes coming will be to move hole 5's basket more to the left. (gets it out of the sightline of hole 7).

Hole 1 will go in the more visable straighter position (Evil Gregs alternate position will still go in for tournaments)

Hole 2 basket will move to the top of the first hill so it will be visable from the teepad. (long alternate will stay for tournaments).

More changes will come as we tweak the course for installation, but overall this course should become a favorite for many of us.

Great course I really liked it. Glad it will be my new home course. The one thing that it is missing are some par fours. Like Brim said with that amount of land par fours could take that course to the next level. Well done Mike and Greg! Overall great course.

we will then add a hole after current hole 18 that shoots back up the hill to finish by hole 1 teepad.

One that I am flirting with right now, is hole #15 teepad to hole #16 basket (hole 16 basket sits right on the lake shore). You would have to be careful not only on your teeshot but also on the approach or you would get wet.

Or... How bout hole 17 teepad to hole 18 basket??? Can you clear that water in one shot or do you play it safe??

What about hole 2 teepad to hole 3 basket???

Lots of possibilitys with this land so watch for some nasty surprises during tournament play!!

Let's revisit this idea Mike! There is an awesome shot if you tee off near the walking path and play the fairway kinda behind the bathroom. There is a nice par-3 spot in the woods, and a par-4 pin location if you extend toward 1's teebox. I think the current setup for 13 is pretty weak IMO, but I know we had to arrange something in time for Fright Flight. If we make the new hole, or another one somewhere else, we can combine 12&13 into a solid par 4.

Not without losing 16 completely- in the past when the tee was over by the trees it would have been possible, but now - no chance without relocating 15 basket and losing 16 completely.

I had already spoken with Mikey and Wade at Fright Flight about a possible solution to the 13/14 basket-tee issues which would preserve all the neighbor issues and let 13, 14, 15 and 16 remain as decent holes.
