Georgia State DG Championships PDGA B-Tier 23-24 Aug 08

Postby tdg » Wed Apr 30, 2008 1:57 pm

After a rough and rocky year so far there is light at the end of the tunnel.
That being said, I will finally have time to get back to focusing on our PDGA events here in Toccoa. Registrations for the Georgia States are coming in as we write. With everything going on, I put off getting any sponsorship for the Pro-Am this year. It was a bare bones tourney. My sponsors will be throwing in big time at the Ga. states. We have a guaranteed $500 added to the Pro purse as well as another $300 added to the Am payout. These are the initial numbers and hopefully there will be more to come. This years tourney is limited to 90 players with 2 rounds of 18 on Saturday and 1 round of 24 on Sunday. Sundays tee time will be 10 am, so you'll get a little extra sleep. Some flyers are already out . I should have more at Ridge Ferry. See you all soon - John

What do mean you're limiting the field, that will cause an uproar!

Glad to be the first entry to John's events, as he IS the most organized, and has the best run events in the state!

Saturday 2 rounds of 18 x 5 players per tee = 90 players. Can't legally do any more. See you soon - John

You obviously don't read the rest of the threads on this board do you?

It was said as a joke based on other threads and people whining about field limits on other threads.

Keith, thanks for the kind words. As far as the other pages go, I rarely look at them. Sorry I missed the joke. Take care.

Don't sweat it John. Usually it's only Keith who gets his own jokes.

I plan on getting the list started this week. Remember, the Pro's who played at the Pro- Am are eligible for the free RCI week stay at resort of their choice. Also, remember the format: 90 player limit. 1 round of 24 on Sunday. 2 rounds of 18 on Saturday. The flyer is up on the PDGA site on the tourney info. See you all soon - John

For those who live up in the Toccoa area or have been there a few times, anyone want to give some advice as to a decent place to stay for Saturday night. Don't need or want anything elaborate, just somewhere to crash. Local campground, cheap hotel (not a fleabag inn), anything simple will do.
Thanks

Toccoa Inn, which is less than 2 miles from the course is where alot of players stay (including my family) and it's about 55 bucks a night to stay there.

For a division to be a trophied division it must have at least 3 participants registered prior to August 14. I have far too many trophies sitting around that never got claimed.
Thanks for your cooperation on this. As far as a place to stay, I agree with Keith. It is a nice, quiet and clean hotel to stay at. Their phone # is: 706-886-1048. See you all soon - John

We are currently at 71 players. We will make our last update on Friday . I will be leaving work on Friday around noon to work at the course. I do not have a computer at home, so if you need to contact me you will need to call. Last night was crazy with the phone calls. If you are planning on coming up you may get me tonight after 8 @ (706) 384-3678. One more thing, any CTP's brought will go to the Island motherlode hole for Sunday. It will be a $3 buy-in CTP . We currently have at least 8 discs on the hole. See you soon - John

John, thanks so much for running another perfect tournament at Toccoa. The course was great the competition was strong. Our family really appreciates you and your family for all of the hard work that you do. I wish I could've played a little better, but I had fun none the less.

I want to say a special thanks to Keith, Hugh, and D-wiz for there contributions to the JR tourney. I also want to say a big thanks to Mike Dammes, D-wiz, Zach Kles, Stuart Krall, and whoever else donated there winnings to the JR tournament. The kids are going to love the discs that I picked out for them. Thanks again John and family we will see you on the next go around.

As most of you know, I don't have internet at the home.We will get the scores posted tonight after work at the college. Thanks to all who made this a very smooth running event. Congrats to Kevin Mc Coy on winning the Open Pro division and taking home a week stay at a resort of Courtney and his choosing. See you all later and thanks for your patience. - John

Anybody remember the episode of Seinfeld when Kramer was the best in his Karate class?

Funny part is the Mike & Mike Bagger Show was "one upped" by the ultimate bagger.

It just goes to show that you need a solid Advanced Master to really give McCoy a run for his money...

Advanced Masters played the short tees so you can not really compare the scores to the Pros.

If you take Corder out of the picture, the rest of the field was a tight battle.
