Alright!

I get to miss this event as well as the Flying Eye this year thanks to their date schedule changes!

I think that the underground, Doug and Gentry are working together to screw up my disc golf fun this year.

Oh well I'm sure I won't be missed, and on the bright side it means I don't have to teach people the rules at anymore Redan Events the rest of this year, cuz I'm damn sure Paul on 4/20, and Rob in Oct would have had fun with my card placement!

That's what Red said last Sunday at the match play that there was only going to be Pro and Am, no age divisions or anything like that.

No there are no age protected divisions JUST PRO AND AM

We are looking to have a fun tourney with no crap. Baggers can play am or they can nut up and play where they should in pro.

Also, sorry about not giving the info on the CFRs. You can either PM jason or me or give us a shout. Thanks guys and once again I hope to see everyone there.

Rob & Vach,

I see that sanctioning of this tourney is pending right now. Can you answer a couple of questions please.

The online sign up just shows classifications (Pro/AM) and does not cover what divisions will be offered. Can you at least list the divisions here on the web page that will be offerred?

Or is this tourney just going to have MPO & MA1?

Thanks,
jay

Wookie - Pro and Am are classifications, not divisions. Divisions need to be offered during online sign up. AM is a classification which is broken down in divisions.

Also - Male/Female?

It's pretty cut and dry. You either play as an AM or a Pro. Not to difficult to figure out. No age protection and no ratings based subdivisions. So it breaks down as MPO, FPO, MA1, and FW1. All ratings can be covered by the Advanced division. The end.

As rob said in an earlier post, the cfr's are officially in. We have sidewinders, fl's, tl's, and xcalibers at the standard cfr price which is $25. It will probably be easiest to just contact rob or myself if you are interested in purchasing a disc. Online registration is also now available at http://www.eatsleepdisc.com/tournament_ ... hp?t_id=39 .

One another note, running a tournament myself has made me realize how much work actually goes into running a tournament. As many of you know, this is our first time running a tournament and we need everyone's support to make it a successful one. Please do not procrastinate on registration or buying a cfr. The more discs everyone buys, the more money will go into the purse. We plan on getting some more tourney discs (including roc's and aviars) but we will not be able to get them until we sell the cfr's that we have now.

For anyone who does not know yet, Shooter Alley Gentlemen's Club has contributed a $1000 to this tournament. Help support your local disc golf by registering now and buying a cfr disc and making this tournament successful.

(I have an image of the cfr disc, but I'm still trying to figure out how to display it on this message....anyone who knows me knows how computer illiterate I am. I promise it will be posted very soon)

Big Props to Shooter Alley Gentlemen's Club for their $1000 donation to this tournament!

Rob & Vach,

Thanks for starting and running this new tourney. I am trying to confirm what divisions will be offered. I can't tell from the online sign up as they are offering classifications only and not divisions. Are the below divisions the only ones offered?

PRO:
MPO 970+
FPO 900+

AM:
MA1 935+
FA1 800+

I understand Pro/Am tourneys but usually they list divisions offered. Will any other divisions be offered?

Thanks in advance!

If that's the case the website for online sign up needs to reflect this info offering the correct divisions and not the classifications. The only restriction I see published is no age protected division which is fine (but that is on a message board thread). You have to be careful with flyers and online info to CYA. Pro/Am means Pro and Am Classification invited. The flyer/on line sign up does not give any warning that divisions are restricted.

Just trying to help out.

Thanks Jay! I will look into it. This is the first tourney for me so please be patient with me!

Also, it appears that sanctioning payment has either been misplaced or not received. However, I have talked to Karolyn and we are fixing the problem right now. Don't worry it will be taken care of next week!

Also, we still have CFR's I wanna hear from you guys!

Yes Aaron, they will be offering Pro "Open" and Am "Advanced" for guys & gals (even though the website does not have the ladies divisions listed......yet.

Please keep in mind that this is the first time for Vach & Red as TD's so they are working through all the complexed items that need to take place when running a PDGA Sanctioned Event.

The names will eventually and hopefully get listed as they get the paper work and passwords from the PDGA. Sounds like this is going to be a great event for the newbie TD's!

I apologize if my tone came across as being critical as it was not intended to be. I was just wondering because I am not particularly a fan of online registration and I was wondering how many people have signed up. Although I have never ran an event I am cognizant of all the tasks that must be accomplished before such an event can come to fruition. I suspect that Vach and Red will do an excellent job and I appreciate their hard efforts.

OK,

Yes the players are going to be posted on the PDGA website! Unfortunetly, there has not been a lot of time or people to register recently so I haven't wasted my time putting ALL 4 of the persons registered on the PDGA site yet. If you absolutely need a list now PM me and I will send you the list. Or I will have it put on this site, maybe not on the PDGA site, when I get home tonight. It will be slightly late because I'm on a billiards team that plays on Tuesdays but I promise I will at least have it on this site tonight. I also blew out my elbow at Moseley this weekend so even this message is tough to type.

Jason and I have decided to have a Pro-Am tourney. Since this is going to be at redan we thought this would make for an exciting and fair tourney without several different divisions in each category. Our thought process in this is to have an incredible payout for these two divisions!!!!! However, some folks out there have expressed their issues with this format. Which is leading Vach and I to rethink just two divisions... Don't get excited... We have mostly been running through ideas to keep this tourney with only two divisions but giving the AM side of things a really nice players pack to make sure that the folks who think they have no chance of winning a reason to play and not go home empty handed. Jason and I both have been consulting different people about this and will hopefully arrive at a decision soon. We are still leaning towards having a Pro-Am tourney. This means either you will be playing Adv. am or Pro open. No discrimination between sexes, abilities, age, or anything else you guys can come up with. JUST GOLF!!!!! with the biggest payouts we can get.

If you do not want to sign up online you can PM me or call me @ 404.285.6809. This is my personal cell phone number. If I don't answer it is because I'm at work. Please leave me a message and I will get back to you. Or email me at robmc50@hotmail.com, this goes straight to my crackberry. I think all this info is on the flyer as well. ALSO WE HAVE CFR'S AND YOU PEOPLE NEED TO BUY THEM!!!!!!

Please if you have anymore questions let me know! I want everyone to come play and have a good time at this tourney, so if I can help clear up anything else don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you all there!

Alright you guys tell me what you think of this...

Scenario: Everyone who registers in the Am field will receive a voucher for their buy in. That means a $45.00 voucher. Which they can use for any merch. they want to. Which leaves the top three spots getting trophies and everyone gets a payout?

And no matter what Grease says... PROS... you don't get nothing unless you win!!!

Everyone as in the am's get a voucher and a trophy for top three and you are going to pay-out for them as well or everyone in the am's get a voucher and the top three get trophies and the pro field gets the pay-out?

So why not charge the am's a $5 entry and play for trophies only? That will allow them to take the other $45 and play for side action if they choose. If you don't want in on the cash side action then so be it. Personally, I've decided to start playing Open because I'm tired of the entire am structure. Sorry Grease. I just think it's ridiculous to play your arse off all weekend and get a stack of plastic that you don't need. Everyone says, if you don't like it move up. So I'm moving up.

I think am's should only play for a trophy. If you do decide to charge more then they should get a great player package as well. I say keep it cheap and fore go the am payout.

Wookie, if the ams get the voucher, there won't be a payout. Just the trophies for the top three.

Richard head, you're right. I was talking to someone this afternoon who remembered that a long time ago the trophies were like gold to a golfer. Now everyone wants to get something. It's like a politically correct tourney. The spirit of competition has been lost to "but he got something and I didn't"

Also, sorry for not posting the names last night but I did get them set up and I will be home earlier this evening to get it done.

Rob is doing his best to appease everyone, and I think that is admirable. This
is a tough decision being as there are no master divisions to give us a chance
at cashing. Me personally, I don't care. If I play well enough to hang with the upper
crust, so be it. If not, oh well. There are a few of us who remember the Fire Ant
tournaments. If you were first, you got a trophy. If you were second, you got nothing.
Even though that did include masters, that was how it was just a few years ago. So,
whatever decision Rob makes, you should respect and honor it, as he is the TD.
Fart, it's never not funny!

All that makes sense to me. Was just asking for clarification. I think this tournament is on the right track without having to keep up with all the divisions and what not. Pro and Am is how it should be, well, maybe throw a Masters group in there for folks over 40 but that's it. I know I would play a lot more tournaments if my fees were lower, and I played for trophy's with a decent players pack versus the TD's trying to make some crazy payout work with vouchers and "so and so dollars" and what not. I usually buy all my plastic when I need it versus getting it for "cashing". It would actually be an incentive to move up if you were tired of winning trophy's and wanted to truly "cash" when you play well.

Keep up the good work Rob and Vach.

I like the fact there are just two divisions as it's a nice change of pace. It's also a gauge on how good I am compared to all AM's and also it makes for a nice format for a Bag Tag Challenge. Winner take all is pretty sweet. Player packs are always cool cause you usually pick up a tourney disc or something as a momento of the event. But I have my Sweet Fundraiser Disc so I am already ahead of the game. Voucher cool, player pack cool, whatever Rob and Vach want to do is fine by me. Afterall - it's a two-dayer at Redan. What could be sweeter?

Get your Fundraiser Disc today!!!

I know I have argued this in the past and was verbally assaulted to no end. I have always thought "payouts" for amateurs is ridiculous. There have been so many other sports that I have participated in and spent more money on then disc golf and never even considered getting anything other than a trophey. The bulk of the money needs to go to open because bigger pro payouts is what is going to grow the sport, not am "payouts" and "player packs."

LISTEN UP

After several conversations with several different people we have decided to offer the age protected divisions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't like it, but each per I talked to made very good points!

The divisions that will be offered are:

pro open
pro master
pro grand master

adv am
am master
am grand master

SORRY! SORRY! SORRY!
Also the women's pro and am divisions

THERE MUST BE AT LEAST FOUR PEOPLE TO PLAY IN A SINGLE DIVISION!

Prices will stay the same. $69.00 for pro divisions and $49.00 for am divisions.

I should have the layout of the course posted soon, but for now I do know that the baskets will only move one time. That will be between Saturday's and Sunday's rounds.

I thought the purpose of the original divisions was to make it simple, now you have gone from 2 divisions to 8, you might as well add Int and Rec and then you have the same divisions as most tourneys? Then you can deal with all the extra divisions and payouts and all the stuff you were trying to avoid.

Doesn't matter to me, I'm in and gonna have a good time either way.

My 2 cents- i'm not against age protected divisions, but since Rob folded like a cheap chair and now there are 26 divisions in this tournament, i want to throw in another opinion.

At The Vibram Open (run by Steve Dodge who is not afraid to run a tournament exactly like he wants and envisions) there was no masters divisions, but grandmasters was offered. http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tourname ... urnID=7290 In my opinion i do NOT think that 40 years old is a disability that requires a seperate divison. i'm not the ball golf expert, but i'm pretty sure they cant play on the senior tour at 40, more like 50.

Thats how you get big open fields. and if u think that Ken Climo needs a handicap bc he's 40, you shouldnt be reading this anyway.

I'm looking foward to the usual fall classic at Redan. have fun getting the 26 trophies made

Wait, team georgia/innova/creativitity/slam isn't playing in any of the offered divisions????

Keith I envy your steadfast approach to your tournaments, however, since I'm taking everyone's money and moving to costa rica instead of running a tourney I'm just trying to get as much as possible before I leave!!! Don't tell anyone, shhh.

Then everyone will be left in one division...the LOSER division!!!!

Also, Keith don't you have some registering of players to do? I figured Team Georgia would be the first people on the list.

Considering the latest string of break-ins at Redan do you think it will be possible to have someone watching the parking lot during the tournament? I can't afford to fix my truck right now and I certainly won't be able to afford fixing it again next month. Honestly it is making wonder if I should even sign up for the event? Oh and by the way it doesn't seem to matter how many cars are in the parking lot because I bet twenty were there on Sunday when this happened. How many spots are left open at this point?

In the past events I have played there, tourney central has been in the parking lot area. I don't think I have heard of a car being broken in to during an event. Perhaps some non playing folks would be nice enough to hang around the lot during the rounds. Usually that is enough of a deterrent to crime.

Some guy named Scott had his car stolen from the lot during a Hotlanta. I don't know if they ever found it? Rootee had his station wagon(ca. early 80's) stolen during a Tues. dubs. It was recovered a week later, aparently joyridden until out of gas and ditched!

I sat down at lunch today to update the pdga board but it looks like something is wrong.

Maybe the USDGC action has killed the site, I don't know, but I will sit back down this evening and try again.

maybe I missed this somewhere, but how many rounds will this tournament be? I'm traveling a ways, so my vote would be for 4 rounds - more bang for the buck lol

also, does anybody happen to have any floor space available for potentially 2 traveling players from MS?

don't mind traveling 4 1/2 hours to play a good tournament, but it gets expensive quickly

There will be four rounds in two days of play. The winnings will be given out at the course for those who want to leave early, but there will probably be an after party somewhere if you're sticking around.

Will tournament central be located in the parking lot? If not I will not be attending. The cars being broken into is an issue that has not been addressed at all at tournaments. I was using every possible precaution when mine was broken into aside from giving the perp the keys. Could one of the TD's please address this issue?

i heard that they only break into whiners cars.... seriously.... 14 years straight and no break in's.... must just be bad luck for some.
I think other parking lots in the park also get broken into as well.
I think Rob and Vach should stand in the parking lot and *valet*.... that way we can blame everything on them....

thanks for running the tournament guys!!!
If you're lucky, on Sunday, some golfers may be so hung over that you could allow them to sleep in your car and maybe it won't get broken into....
I was there yesterday and saw a guy breaking into the trashcan (there were no cars parked before I arrived), I just sat in my car, that way he couldn't break in.

Yeah, well its been eight years for me without any problems. Maybe the nearly new car is the problem? If I just had a piece of junk again maybe I could have made it a whole 14 years! I just need to lower my tastes a bit, that's all, or just not care about my stuff. That way I won't need to "whine" anymore. Can I just ride with you djester?

14 years, 7 different vehicles, and never a break in..... hmmmm

Micheal Burton leaves a 2006 convertible Porsche in the lot with top down and nothing has been messed with in his car.
Maybe it's Karma ??

I drive a jah-lop-eee though.... so I guess that's why my truck has never been broken in... One day I'll be able to afford a new Kia.... hope they don't break my windows then.

Then while I was still spinning around like a whirling dervish from that eye-opener I realized that even if my life was based around the four noble truths I still haven’t done anything to deserve bad "karma?" Now I'm more confused than ever? Could it be that Redan is a great course that just happens to be located in a toilet? Are you a philanthropist Mr. Jester?

What's with this "collared shirt" thing? Never heard of such a rule.

It's called the "Dapper Rule"....Players look much more Dapper when wearing a collared shirt. You can upgrade to Spiify if you wear colorful Soccer Socls or Black Socks.

Okay I'm sorry I misunderstood you; however, if you are insinuating that my comment was racially based you also clearly misunderstood. Bad neighborhoods can be inhabited by any ethnic group. Look, I'm tired of arguing with you about this. I'm not really sure why you felt compelled to challenge me on it? I think I have a very reasonable concern here. I am not blaming anyone affiliated with disc golf or asking for the TD's to do anything special; all I wanted was for sign up and other tournament matters to be held in the parking lot. In years past it was always held behind number three, maybe it isn't now? I don't know. Further to comment on your continued references to something I said in the past I admit (and admitted then) that I made mistakes and said things that I shouldn't have. I was much younger then and like most everyone at that age made juvenile mistakes. I'm sorry if you are still offended by something that happened six or seven years ago. There is nothing I can do about it now. As for the issue at hand it doesn't look like I am going to be able to make it anyway so I guess it doesn't matter where sign up is held. However regardless of whether I am able to make it or not I am not discussing this issue any further here as it clearly is not achieving anything. Oh, and I still don't know who you are?

djester and Big Red: Please continue your discussions via PM and in the future try to work out any differences that way as well. Thanks!

Big Red - The flyer has both TD's phone numbers listed. They don't read the message board every day. If you need questions answered in a more timely manner, I recommend you call them up.

Thanks.

Rob & Vach -

Do you have any non-playing staff members that will have a presence at the parking lot while players are on the course?

Thanks,

Why would Tournament Central not be in the parking lot? Anywhere else would just interrupt play and cause confusion. When (in the last 8 years) has it been anywhere else? Why are you all so damn sensitive?

p.s. Keep up the good work Sausage Panther.

I don't know where tourney central will be for you guys. I'm getting on the plane back to costa rica in an hour!

Seriously, if you don't want to show up DON'T! I will not be in the parking lot all day and there will probably be sometime where the cars are not being watched 100%. I think it will be fine, but please feel free to make your own decisions. Maybe try catching a ride with a friend? Unfortunately, though no refunds will issued after today at 5pm

Jay, all the rules will be gone over at 9:30am players meeting Saturday morning. As a matter of fact you will be given a small pamphlet type write up with pretty much everything you need to know. Or if you want to come to DOUBLES Vach wll be out there for registration and DOUBLES! I think that's not really the info you were looking for but I can't remember and Vach is in charge of printing the pamphlets.

DOUBLES tee of at 5pm on Friday

OK so here goes for the menu for the weekend.

We will be serving lunch on Sat. and Sun. for all that are interested. The menu will be:

Specialty sausage from Anis with a bun and sides..................$3
Hanger steak skewers...........$3
Chicken skewers ...............$3

I am going to make my Yakitory sauce and my new Moose Mustard dipping sauces for the skewers.

Some of you might be thinking that that's a little pricey for a skewer of meat.....think again.....have I ever let you down. The Skewer's will be atleast 1/4 pound and I might even make rice balls if 15 people PM me and say DO IT!!!!!.

If I do rice balls they will be a dollar. We will also have 16OZ gatorades for a buck. Don't forget to PM me if you want the rice balls because they are a pain in my arse. Gomez will also be making a special potatoe salad to die for that will be included with any two items (sausage, hanger steak, chicken)

I will also provide security for your car for 25 cents a day for both days (first round only).

Where was this no refund after 5PM today disclosed at? For what possible reason would this be? I have never heard of a TD doing this. It was confirmed this morning due to a family issue that I am not going to be able to come. So I am going to get punished now because I didn't withdraw on Wednesday????????? The USDGC doesn't even do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess we found something that we can agree on. To clarify what I meant here I don't think we crossed the line or broke any rules and it does seem a bit premature that we cannot speak openly about it any further.

Rob,

Can you PLEASE update the player list and what divisions people are in?

I know it's a pain especially since the PDGA can't seem to maintain a website latlely. Maybe they need some of those free educational computer DVD's from the guy on TV.

Any help would be groovy. BTW - How are the hoochie mama's in Costa Rica? Are they less expensive for you there than here? I bet your money, I mean everyone else's money goes farther there.

Most common question expected from all player's on Sat Morning: Where's Rob & Vach???
Answer: Working on their tan's in Costa Rico

And a side note to big red straight out of the PDGA 2008 Competition Manual regarding withdrawals - check 1.3.D.:

1.3. Withdraws and Refunds
A. A player may officially withdraw only by contacting the
Tournament Director.
B. Players must email or phone their withdrawals to the
Tournament Director only at the contact information
posted.
C. Discussions with persons other than the Tournament
Director, including other tournament staff, shall not be
considered official.
D. No refunds will be issued after the 7th day prior to the
start of the event, but the player shall be sent a player’s
package if one was provided to event competitors.

E. Withdrawals made before the 7th day prior to the start of
the event shall receive a 50% refund.
F. Withdrawals made 14 days prior to the start of the event
shall be refunded 100 %, less postage and handling,
which shall not exceed 10% of the entry fee.
G. These criteria may be relaxed at the discretion of the
Tournament Director.

I wasn't aware of this so I stand corrected. I guess it's pretty unusual for this rule to be utilized especially considering it is optional. I expect to get my players pack in the mail then if there is one.

I don't know if there are player packs or how Rob intends to handle refund requests. What i have noticed recently as both a TD and a player is that most late dropouts understand that they are not entitled to a refund and thus usually tell the TD to keep it or add it to the payout. The refund rules have been the same since 2007 when the PDGA first published their Competition Manual.

Vern, update your ass!

Aaron, It happens bro and I'm not the USDGC so deal with it. If you weren't so difficult I could understand your position. However, I have been contacted about your past and have seen your reactions first hand. So instead of hiding all this you should maybe CRY wolf to someone else and either enjoy and our tourney or complain about it. Either way I will enjoy the strippers and the fun and probably register to play next year so I won't have to miss this kind of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vern, love ya but the list won't be updated until tomorrow morning. I had some deadlines at work that were moved up by a month! It's called work, dont tell obama supptorters!?! That "Work" word will scare them!!!!!

Most importantly whats the stripper NOT WEARING???????

What is all this talk about strippers? It doesn't seem very PC? A little respect for these working ladies....

I think they prefer to be called Burlesque Dancers or Inspiring Actresses   :o

Are these going to be PDGA Approved dancers? I know a dancer can work a brass pole but can they slide down a Pole Hole?

Whats the difference between a pole hole and a stripper? For a $100 you can play with both but only one of them will piss you off when they spit?

If we ordered Dry-Fit shirts (for the Shooter Alley Pro Am) at "Lost In the Woods" and are not playing can we pay for them and pick them up early Sat morning?

And how much do they cost?

Not to dwell on parking lot issues, but I sat on a jury in DeKalb County last week and put 3 guys in jail for life for killing a pimp and drug dealer right off of Redan Road and Chapman Circle. Having to look at aerial photos and knowing the park was right there was a reality kick in the nuts.

You can thank me for my civic duty sometime later in life, I highly recommend taking jury duty seriously, it will change how you view the world.

REMINDER: For all AM's that want to Bag Tag Challenge I will collect the tags before the first round. Find me and give me your tag and I will distribute them after the event. I will not be selling the tags , that's Wookie and someone elses department. I am just handling the action. All that participate get a free lap dance and I hope I don't hurt you when I do it.

Wow, simply asking where tournament central would be located caused this kind of reaction. Perhaps you guys should practice a little more forgiveness. Seven years have passed and you treat a fellow disc golfer this way? No doubt in my mind who is at fault and who isn't.

Have a blessed day! :D

Don't take it personally. It seems that normal civility no longer has a place here on the forum and if you do have a beef, be prepared to take a beating. The days of courteous and gracious conversation or polite social intercourse are long gone. Everyone gots to be a gangsta' now!

I don't flip-flop for just anyone, RO-OB! Besides, I'm not the TD, so I don't have to be all nicey-nice.
p.s. Is that the best you could come up with?

It's called the "Dapper Rule"....Players look much more Dapper when wearing a collared shirt. You can upgrade to "Spiffy" if you wear colorful Soccer Socls or Black Socks.

Vach takes home $685 after beating $ in a playoff on the first hole ($ had a cut through from ~40, Vach drained his from around the same distance)... not sure the order but 3 way tie for last cash with Raury, Bret and someone... I think K-Mack got third, maybe Brad 4th...?? Bootsie bowed out in the 3rd round. Q shoots -10 last round which was his only round under par.
Plotky won advanced... Speedy second?

Moose cooked an amazing lunch both days and takes the ace fund with a nice slide to the basket for CTP...

No cars were broken into...

Great pics, but what about the pictures of the sluts? Or at least the pictures of Vern's lap dances. Did Woody scare them all away?

From anyone that was there, can we please get some scores, money won, etc. from the event for people who were in another state and missed it.

All I know is Vach won, Jordan took no pictures of the Shooter Allley workers, and Bootsie Quit - Surely more happened than that.

$685 for 1st is KILLER! How many Open players were there?

I'm sure Vach or Rob could cut and paste the Excel spreadsheet into here and we can see some results and payouts.

Thanks in advance!
