Mid Summer Match Play July 20, 2008

Postby Wookie » Wed Jun 25, 2008 10:23 pm

The Am Number One tag is back in Atlanta thanks to Little Flyers. Charlie was nice enough to run us a new tag and it's green with a gold stamp so everyone will know if the other one ever turns up.

So, to find out who gets it we are going to have a match play on July 20, 2008 at Redan. It's going to be for Pro's and Am's alike and if you don't have a tag come on out anyway and get one and jump in the action. It's never to late.

Sign in starts at 8:30 and goes till 9:45, then we will set the matches up and get started as fast as we can afterwards. It will be just like the December match so please bring a lunch if you think you are going to make it past the first or second match because we aren't stopping.

Format will be 9 hole matches with the possibility of having the semi-finals be 18, and the FINALS WILL BE 18. You will switch tags at the completion of every match.

There will hopefully be some doubles action for everyone as they get knocked out so bring some extra $$$ and stick around to watch the finals.

I was going to let whoever ran the doubles set the action. If ya'll want to throw in some side action for the winner of the match play that is cool, but all the tag money will not be given out till the end of the year.

I would like to invite all of the low number tag holders to the challenge. I am tired of my higher number and plan on taking one of yours.

Sorry I cannot be there - I have a herniated disc in my back and am hoping to be okay to play by FCO. I know that I need to put the #2 (really number 1) tag up more often. I am just ducking Vern whenever I can - the leopard thong works me...

FBJ -- sounds like you have alot of Khaos in your back but the #1 is still waiting there for me on Sunday. Take care of the back. I know a few good massage places you can go if you need some "therapy".

Jeff Bonney took home the gold...er, green #1 AM tag. Nice play!
For coming in second I got #13 - woohoo!
In the final foursome Clunck and Steve Adams battled mightily for numbers 17 and 18, but then the beer ran out and they lost interest.
Don't know about the pros.

Thanks for all the golfers that came out. It was a good time, and nice to know that I lost in the first round to the eventual number 1 winner. Good work Jeff.

I have AM #15, and unfortunately was way too hung over to make the morning tournament, but would like to know if anyone has a current list of who has what numbers in the AM tags. Second, when or where they may be playing, cause I want to get a different number at least once.

We all know FBJ's(#2) issue, but 3-12 are you out there?

I will do my best to update the list tonight, and it will be posted on the message board. You just have to find folks to challenge, email them, private message them, or just go out to courses or tournaments and find folks to play. Hell, get your golfing buddies to buy them and then ya'll can challenge each other, that's what I do.

You know, I was thinking about his "argument" and they do it the same way in Professional Drag Racing too. You qualify on time and then the rank the brackets in order the same way we did yesterday. It makes absolutely no sense to have the lower tags play each other and the higher tags play because then you end up with the number 1 playing the highest in the finals when the lower tags have worked hard to get those numbers. They are rewarded for the work by playing the higher tag numbers.
