Rec Division

Postby Laserman » Tue Jul 08, 2008 1:00 pm

Team VermiNutnator hereby sign up for the Rec division - the only division safe from Pros like Jordy and Clunck. Check your bag tag Clunck - it says Pro on it for a reason.

Luke......????

3 Divisions:
Pro - 2 Pro Players
Am - 2 Am Players
Pro/Am - 1 Pro & 1 Am Player.

If not, just do a doubles tourney where ALL the money goes to the course and give out hunks of wood to the 1st-3rd finshers. I'd rather my $$ go to a course then a pro playing in an am division. .02

it's crap if there is only one team for pro/am.... then it's crappier  (like that word?) if the pro/am money is split from other divisions.

but...didn't you just say that? So i just answered your question with your answer

make 3 divisions
if one division doesn't have enough players to provide a payout more than the money bought in, then don't included that division..... is it that hard to understand?

PDGA ratings

Open >970
Advanced <970
Ad. Master >935
Interm. <935
Rec <900
Novice <850

There, I said it. Chad Rickel has a 931 rating. Hello? That's not even ADVANCED!

On another note, we run a small tournament, and in small tournaments, people often (should) play up. Lots of you will say I'm an Open Player, though I've never cashed in any open tournament. Also, my rating is probably somewhere close to Chad's (if I were current). Having said that, I play open in our tournament because I'm very comfortable as a doubles partner--much better, in fact, than I am by myself.

SO...

Always subject to change, but for August 30, I'd like to kind of follow the PDGA and have at least these 3 divisions; Open, Advanced, Intermediate.

If an am wants to play with a PRO, then they are to enter the OPEN division in our tournament. NO proam div. Sorry Jay, I just don't like it. I'm an am that plays with a pro. No, we've not won anything in two tournaments, but finished one spot out of the money both times.

NOW PLEASE, START ANOTHER THREAD ABOUT DIVISIONS IN THE PDGA BUT DON'T KEEP FEMALE DOGGIN' ABOUT IT HERE.

Jayvosssaid,
"Two divisions were tried last time but we had 3 divisions paying out two division "

I want three divisions. Open, advanced, intermediate. This really ought to cover it instead of us making up a new division, right?
If it so happened that we had enough for yet another division, then that too.

As far as "Pro Am" goes, it's a small tourney, like I said above. It's doubtful that Phil or Brad will be coming down as partners, so I still say if you are, like me, amateur status, and you want to partner with an open player, then do so and get in the open division.

I'm definitely not Mr. PDGA, but I'd like to at least stick to their guidelines!

alright, so I'm having a discussion with Jay about a division alignment. THe reason the Pro am thing came up is because some guys who are perceived to be pro talents played am this last time. So have a division, PRO AM, to solve the problem. But what if someone like me, whom some want to christen "open player", teamed up with say, Wookie to play advanced?

It doesn't seem to me that a pro am division will really make folks happy, and to be honest, I don't know who'd enter it. I play open on my course, at least for doubles. I wouldn't be interested in it. Anyone else? Djester, you thought it was a neat idea, but would you play pro am?

I'm open for solutions. Saying "three divisions, open, am , intermediate" seemed to be the best way to handle it, but I'm flexible, if you don't come up with dumb stuff. Quite honestly, I failed to see the real problem--mainly because I looked at PDGA ratings.

No, really, throw your ideas at me.

Rating based, problem solved, if either player is above the recommended PDGA rating for any division then both players have to play to the higher level.

Ratings

Postby Laserman » Fri Jul 11, 2008 9:41 am

Luke has no rating and neither does anybody else who isn't PDGA current. There were two bagger teams playing am last month at the Monty:

Jordy playing down with Robbie. If 11 straight birdies isn't pro then perhaps 19 down for 2 rounds will convince you.

And then there was the Grease/Chappy team - Grease has played PRO in 6 PDGA events this year and cashed in 4 to the tune of $485.

Two divisions should be enough, but if a pro wants to partner up with an am, they should play pro.

Thanks for noticing, but that was Gator and Chappy. My partner was DD, we played pro, and were DFL. Pretty far from bagging, I would say. I do agree that pro/am teams should play pro.

I may be a LOT late, but what u talkin bout, "local charity case." Never asked for, love ta have ya'll down for some fun.

On that note, I would like to ask for consensus on the
"division" point. I agree with our own local Mr. Luke, that we have been having a small, warm-fuzzy tournament. I am also willing to listen to tournament regulars, wherein if ya get three for a division, we'll make one (not committing yet).

So what it's to be? I would encourage people to play ABOVE their division. I was trying to get a profound idea going at Fire Ant where all the pro's would bring a self-called AM along for the ride, so-to-speak. Come for the friendly players. Come for the general competition. Come to see what this course WILL become.

Space still available at the non-lake house, close to all the action in downtown Monticello (not that much happens here).
You hear that, Mr. Anderson? That is the sound of inevitability. That is the sound of your death.

PDGA based ratings

Postby djester » Wed Jul 16, 2008 11:09 am

guess Nate and I will be playing Am this time since I'm rated 935 and he's rated 950-960ish  Both of us have never had a pro-level rating (if that tells you anything)

Don't go by PDGA standards...

Jordy and team shot a great round(s), that doesn't mean next time they play pro division from now on.

I like the pro-am deal as well (some people won't be able to pair up with same division partners, so there has to be a solution to make everyone happy)

If enough folks want to pair up pro/am, then make a division and get rid of the intermediate....... who'll play that anyway?
