Can we confirmation if the "chicks on bicycles" will be there again this year? I don't see that on the flyer. If possible I would also like the bluegrass music.
The Hula Hoop became so ubiquitous that the former Soviet Union banned the toy as a symbol of the "emptiness of American culture."

Hey Mike, Will (my son) and I are thinking about coming over for this event. There's not much going on from June-August and we wanted to hit some new events. Rome's only about four hours from here. I'll talk to ya in BG this weekend. Russ C.

Ouch!! My bad Kat, i just said that 'cause he said he wasn't going to play with the guys anymore - nothing negative meant toward the women. Maybe he can play the Juniors.

I'm curious about something ...

Postby cmueller » Tue Apr 22, 2008 9:09 am

This question could probably go somewhere else, but I'm guessing that it'll get answered here anyway. Why isn't this tournament listed on the front page of the ADGO site? There are events listed there that aren't until later in the summer .. why not this one?

If I've missed something and the GSSS Events are official ADGO events, then I understand why those are listed and this one isn't. If that's not the case, then can anyone explain how events are chosen to be listed on the front page of the ADGO site?

Just so everyone knows, the events listed are not ADGO events , as we only have the spring and fall/winter member events that are "ADGO" events. They are AREA events that can be put up if people ask for them to.

The GSSS Events are NOT ADGO backed or supported by (except in sponsorship).

Barry and Imran are the ones who decide what goes on the front page.
It doesn't matter to me at this point if they are there or not as they will sell out without being there as the other 4 have done WITHOUT any of them being on the front page. (I had asked back in December if the GSSS could be on the front page, but that did not happen until a week ago when it doesn't matter anymore  )

Mikey should make a request if he wants it up there and I don't have a problem with it being there, that's what it's for.

Why isn't this tournament on the front page? Cause no one asked me to put it up there. Now it is listed on the side under "Sanctioned Tournaments" and if you click over to May on the events calendar you will see it there as well.

If you want a something listed on the front page send me or Imran an email (please note I did not say a PM). If you have a logo or disc design you want on there as well then send that in the email. Not all events will make the front page but sanctioned tournaments will most likely make it.

The reason Keith's GSSS tournaments are on the front page is because he asked me to do it. Keith is right...he asked me back in December and then again I think in February. I finally got around to doing it. Please note this is not the normal turn around to adding something to the front page. I started a new job and was swamped for a good three months learning new processes. Plus I didn't want to be playing around on the internets when my boss(es) were popping in unannounced to see "how I was doing".

On a side note: If you are interested in helping out with the website please let either myself or Imran know. It would really be nice if there were a team of people keeping this thing up to date all the time.

I didn't mean to make any accusations .. nor did I mean to speak for Mike. I was just curious. I like the calendar of events .. and thought that perhaps the items on the front page were generated automagically from that somehow.

Rick Greer had the tags at the ADGO Spring Fling. I see that Keith, John R, Woody, and Grease are signed up so maybe one of them can bring the tags.

I can't make the tourney this year as I am working that day with the Cherokee County Ability Games.......

To all of you guys playing this weekend, SMILE :D when you see the camera!

The Rome News Tribune will again be covering the event. They will be out this weekend to do a story and take some pictures and some video.

They are running a feature article on Thursday to generate some interest so hopefully we will have some spectators this weekend.

Please be kind. This park has a lot of usage and most of them have no clue what we are doing. If you do not want to answer their questions, direct them to tournament central.

If you do not want to be on camera, please be nice when you tell the photographer you would rather not be captured on film.

Thanks, and I will see you guys this weekend.

Weather looks good so far for Sat & Sun.

Just wanted to thank those folks that were on the same card as my son Griffin this weekend - Mark, Dave, Scott, Robert, et al - he had a blast this weekend and talked about playing with all you folks. He is really bitten by the DG bug again - between the 16 oz Monster and his last round score, he would not stop jabbering for 5 seconds on the way home. Thanks to Mike and Kathy - great tourney - had a lot of fun - cool course. Congrats to Mike, I do not know how you TD AND manage to play so well - a real feat to be sure. I hope someone up in Rome keeps this thing going.

Fantastic Tournament Again Dammes!!!

Postby Gator » Mon May 19, 2008 9:52 am

Thank you very much for an awesome weekend. Kathy and Mike did an outstanding job on everything. The weather was perfect. I had a great time despite questionable play. Each group I played in was fun and laid back. All in all a Superb Event!!
The JIM WARNER FUND also benefitted greatly. Dusty"Glamour Boy" Jones(pro) won Hole #18 and Dave D(advanced) won Hole #2. We only used 4 discs and raised $115!!!!!
Some folks, like Mark Dammes and Dusty Jones, threw in extra money or put in money without even getting in on the CTP's!! I guess generosity runs rampant with those Dammes/Glamour Boys!! Thanks to all that participated.
The JW Fund is now at $2,900+!!! Less than $2,100 to go!
Hope to See Everyone at the Monticello Bring your own partner Doubles at 10 am on June 7th!

PS- I wish I could've stayed for the final ceremony, but the wife was ready for me to get home and make dinner.
Ps- Last week of Teaching, YEAH!
