Any idea as to when the baskets will be moved to the SUPER SIZED layout for practice, if they haven't been already?

When I was there yesterday, there was talk from Terry and Wes that they were going to run the layout for dubs in the next couple of weeks and worse case scenario, they will be moved on the 20th at the latest, giving 2 weeks to practice .
We played the woods holes only yesterday, so I can't tell you about basket positions for the Original 18, but all the holes using the woods baskets (B,C,D,and I) were already in the right spots.

step up

Postby maximus » Sat Jul 12, 2008 2:41 am

I just looked at the PDGA website and see that with the new ratings, at least a few REC division guys are rated where the INTERMEDIATE guys are and I sure hope that some of you plan to step up to give us some more competition in the INT division instead of BAGGING with the REC guys.
On a similar note, How many AM ADGO bag tags are there in the INT division, any one want to challenge for their tag I am in!

IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW FAR IT MIGHT GO PAST THE BASKET, IF IT GOES IN.

I just looked at the PDGA website and see that with the new ratings, at least a few REC division guys are rated where the INTERMEDIATE guys are and I sure hope that some of you plan to step up to give us some more competition in the INT division instead of BAGGING with the REC guys.

I am with Chris on this one. Move up people. I know the payout is better in Rec but where is the competition in that?

Don't know if I will make it due to trying to make the match play at Redan, but out of curiosity... what tees, pool 1, 2 or 3?

Most likely, it would depend on the numbers showing up for the pools, but in the past, since most doubles players showing up at Central are PRO or ADV, I would guess pool 1.

Good luck to you at REEEEdan, if you play there.

Jaron Shaffer has moved to the Advanced Division and the Payout #'s have been adjusted accordingly.

I would like to personally thank Jaron for giving up his shot to win the Rec points title, (which through PDGA rules he did NOT have to do) to play in the division where his rating places him coming up to play the toughest layout at the GSSS #5 (FCO3)

PLEASE sponsor a tee sign for the Event if you can and help support the GSSS going into the final 2 Events!

Deadline for tee sign sponsorship is Monday the 28th at 5PM.

Thanks again,
Keith

Food for Thought
I guess I'll be attending the tourney.... I've been asked to cook and was going to offer options to all who would be interested.
MEATS
Chicken:(3 flavors) BBQ, lemon/pepper, garlic butter
burgers: (3 ways) rare, medium, burnt
hot dogs: (2 ways) cooked regular, cooked then split in half and cooked more

VEGGIES
was thinking of making a all-in-one dish (like at Atl Open)
taters, bell peppers, carrots, onions, shrooms, choppin broccoli, cabbage, and maybe some okra..... spiced by 2oz. Dales, 4oz. water, salt/pepper, 1 stick of butter, and a dash of soy sauce.

if anyone has a better idea please let me know.... and I'll crush it with my super-sonic thumb and forefinger

Bob And Griffin Johnson have just informed me that they will NOT be playing this Saturday, so there are 2 spots open for Central for the first 2 people who call or PM me.

They are using their entry fees to sponsor 2 holes at Lake Russell.

Thanks to both of them for that generous donation!

Now Courtney has to work, so 1 more spot is open.

As always, first one to pm me or call after 9 AM Thursday will get the spot.

Remember to meet at the Pavilion and park in the rows CLOSEST to the ball fields to keep cars away from the practice basket which is doubling as hole 18.

Thanks again, and I'll see everyone in 2 days!

Some tournament nuggets and info:

First and foremost, THANKS to Lorelei and Dawn for their help and patience with me.

Thanks to Terry Lynch for the course prep work, and for the lunchtime Water Jug refilling!
Thanks to Josh Henly (djester) for the GREAT FOOD and for showing up to cook.
Thanks to Bradshaw, Hallworth and ESPECIALLY Brett Porter for help with scorecards.
Thanks to Justin Drage for taking the scoreboards and water jugs back to Greg for use in the Hotlanta tournament in 2 weeks.

Players voted to donate the $82 ACE FUND to the Jim Warner Fund and not throw it off since no one aced.

Only 6 Pro players made a birdie 3 on the Gym Hole, 3 Open, 1 Master, and 2 Advanced, with the Master (Dave Kenney) being the only player to 3 it both rounds!
Some say 1 hole doesn't make or break round or an Event - but here is an interstering stat on this hole from the Pro Master Divison:
Top 4 players were separated by only 3 strokes. Dave Kenney gets a total of 6, Mel 8, Dave Simmons 10 (2 throws behind the winner and 2nd place) and Woody 13 (only 3 throws from first and 1 from cashing) HMMMM!

Only 24 under par rounds were shot total during the day
12 in Open (out of 32 rounds) only the top 2 shooting under both rounds
3 in Masters (out of 15 rounds) only 3rd place shooting under both rounds
ZERO in Advanced shooting under (out of 24 rounds)
ZERO in Advanced Masters (out of 13 rounds)
9 in Intermediate (out of 22 rounds) - (which admittedly was an easier Par 61 in relation to the course)
ZERO in Recreational at Par 59 (out of 35 rounds)

Finally had wind at an Event I ran in Georgia (that wasn't with a tornado  )

Short turnaround time until the Finale on Sept 6&7th at Lake Russell, but I'm ready to end it in spectacular fashion for everyone!

Final payout percentage stats later when I finish the PDGA TD Report after dinner.

Thank You Atlanta Golfers for contributing to the JW Fund at yesterday's Tournament. We raised 72 more dollars for the fund, which now stands at $3,850(just $1150 from our goal)! Holes ten and twelve were CTPs for 3 Warner Discs Each.
Special thanks to Keith ,Lorelei and Dawn for running the tourney and to Terry L. and crew for all of their hard work.
Unfortunately, I struggled and withdrew from my first tournament ever after completing the first round(it was disc golf or missing a family dinner, and I chose the latter). I apologize for leaving - the Advanced Masters fellas I played with were great and the course was in fine shape.
If you are interested in any of Jim's discs- go to E Bay- I am listing several Rocs(KC Pro 8/9 Time) and other discs with all the proceeds going to the Jim Warner Fund. Make a Bid and win one of Jim's discs.
Thanks Again to all involved in making yesterday's tourney happen!

WHAT Pro Player Packs?

Did you not take a disc from the table?

If you did not signup on line (which you didn't) you got to choose a disc from the table for your players package, as the people who signed up online got a code to use online.

Just choose a disc from the GSSS Merchandise thread(which is what was on the table) and let me know which one you want and I'll get it to you the next time I see you or give me an address and I'll mail it to you.

Let me know.
