What is holding back imprivements?

I have played this course twice now and I truly LOVE it out there! What is holding the course back from some good tee signs? I know Nathan Skinner can do them and give a great rate or for free if need be. The obvious answer is money, but REALLy, what can be done here. Let's not see another Central Park scenario! Can hole 3 be changed? Haha, just kidding, kinda.

Hole 3 in the long position is one of the better hole out there. I agree with FBJ, Grease is all about the money!!!

I don't think much is holding things back in the way of improvements. Part of me holds a bit of nostalgia for Deer Lick. It believe it was the second course I ever played after Oregon park and back then it was only a nine hole course. I still like the old IFO signs and if they were ever removed I would probably want to keep one.

What are you looking to improve? Tee signs? Cement tees on all the holes? Replacing baskets?

I think a huge benefit for the course would be tee signs on all holes.

Deer Lick is a great park. Where else can you drop off the dog, play disc golf, go to the skate park, rec center, play putt-putt, have a pic-nic, play basketball, go for a walk and who knows what else all in the same park??!!

Don't forget the skate boarding. Skate-Or-Die dude. Does anyone remember that gem from the old NES days?

Anyway, improvements could be used on just about every course in the world. In my opinion, tee signs should always be the first effort when improving a course. People always want to jump straight into pouring concrete for pads. I personally like natural pads and I think that Deerlick is one of the few courses where natural pads really fit in. Please don't pour concrete pads at Deerlick. Upgrade the signs and buy new collars for alternate pin placements.

We do have some $ from fundraisers and other things. We still plan on getting tee signs. A small handful of us put a lot of time, work, and money into the course and made it a lot better than it used to be. I am up for any ideas from Nathan or anybody else as far as tee signs. One of the biggest issues is that the few of us that did all of this work have lives outside of disc golf and we just haven't had the time. I am glad to see some interest from people outside of the small group of locals. If you seriously want to help and have some good ideas send me a PM or call me at 678-858-7700.

It's me. 7 3/4 size hat and all. I don't play much anymore, but we do need to put some finishing touches on the course.

If you planned a work day out with at least 2 weeks notice, I would be more than willing to come put some time and elbow grease into the course no problem. I don't have tools or anything since I am an apartment dweller, but I have time!

I could come as well. I have a job interview tomorrow and people usually like me, except on here, haha. The only real idea I have is tee signs but I can give you Nathans contact info. He is downtownxxxing or something on here. There are two trees I could cut down that robbed me of aces, j/k. Well they did rob me, but no cutting is needed.

I am more then willing to help as I always am, just let me know.

I have received 18 Tee signs from Central Park and am in the process of reconditioning them to put out at Deer Lick; they have been approved by the Douglas County Park, now it’s just a matter of finding time and help to place the Tee signs.

At the same time I would like to put in place Crushed Granite Tee pad for those locations that currently are with out concrete, we have completed work on Hole # 8 if anyone cares to come by Deer Lick and see how much it improves the Tee location.

I will be out Saturday morning (Oct 16 2010) around 8am to working on 1-4 Tee Signs and basket clean-up and painting, if anyone would like to come out and help.
