2013 ADGO Bag Tag Finals - moved to Sat Jan 4th

Postby Steve Adams » Fri Nov 01, 2013 5:37 am

The 2013 ADGO Bag Tag finals will be held Saturday Jan 4th at Redan Park. It will be match play. You must have your ADGO Bag Tag with you to play.

Sign In 8:45AM-9:30AM Please do not be late. I’ve got to set up the brackets.
Depending on attendance, there may be some people who have a 1st round buy. I will not be able to determine this, until 9:30AM.

You must have your 2013 ADGO bag tag with you to play in this event. I will need to view it to verify the tag# you have.

Bring something with you to eat. We will be moving as quickly as possible from round to round. There will not be time to “run to Subway”.

All 2013 ADGO bag tags are sold. There will not be day of signups. You cannot use the tag bag of someone who is unable to attend.

General OB rules
2 meter rule is NOT in effect.
Surrounded by water is OB.
Football field behind hole #3 basket and on the right by hole #4 is OB. This means inside the chain link fence.
Over the residential fences on holes 6, 12, 13, 14, 17 are OB. Do not retrieve your disc during your match.

1st round to start as soon as the brackets are set up and I can get everything rolling

Seeded brackets will be set up based on your current bag tag#. Generally the lowest tag will play highest tag, second lowest tag will play second highest tag, etc.

Each round is 9 holes of match play, except the finals. Finals for both A & B brackets will be 18 hole match play.
Once a player has won more holes, than there are holes remaining, the match is over. (e.g. If Player A has already won 4 holes with 3 holes remaining to be played, the match is over)

Do not turn in your tag when you arrive. Each match you play will be a match between yourself and your opponent. At the end of the challenge, swap bag tags (if applicable). It is the responsibility of the person who won the match to come report the results to me. I will need to verify each person’s bag tag# and the score (e.g. Player A – 4 holes; Player B – 3 holes).

Players who lose in the first round (or a play-in round) will have the opportunity to play in the B bracket. There will be a $5 additional charge per player, but this is added to the payout for this bracket.

It sure is a bummer that Birmingham's biggest annual B Tier is on that day, and nothing is going on the day after.

Actually, P'nut doubles is happening the following morning, but I've also got another commitment for Sunday afternoon.

All,
I have had numerous requests from individuals concerning the scheduled rain on Saturday and whether this would effect the date of the Final Bag Tag challenge.
My plan is to still have the event on Saturday @ Redan, as this is the only free weekend day I have free through the end of the year.
We may change the event though to a single round Bag Tag Challenge. I would prefer the match play with brackets, but I also don’t want anyone in the rain all day so they get sick right before Christmas.
I will make a definite call on it by 1PM on Friday (12/13/13).

All,

The weather forecast for tomorrow is just bad. Rain looks like it starts tonight and goes through tomorrow afternoon with approx. 1/2 of rainfall, temps in the low 40's, and a wind in the 8-10mph range. Overall a nasty day.

Due to this, I am going to postpone the Bag Tag Final event until Saturday Jan 4th. I have updated the top post to reflect that. Hopefully, we will have dry weather on that date.
I apologize for the last minute change on the date.

Really hate to hear about canceling the day b4.
For me, playing a tournament /full day requires me to start scheduling for it early...by postponing certain clients, trackingdown sitters,.ect.
I hope this date change helps the majority..cause it just messed me up bad.

Thank you very much for rescheduling Steve!!! Playing in the cold rain wouldn't be any fun or worse choosing not to go because of the nasty weather.

Yes, my mistake. I should have made the decision earlier in the week, but I was hoping the rain would be light and sparce enough to play through. This AM's weather reports for tomorrow brought me back to reality.
Hopefully the 3 week postponement will allow you to get rescheduled. I know you want that back-to-back title.

No, they will go on sale when I have the 1st event for 2014 sometime in late January or early February.

2013 ADGO Bag Tag Final Challenge - Results

52 people met at Redan Park and competed for the $1305 payout to close out the 2013 ADGO bag tag season. This is the largest field we have had for a finals match, almost doubling the 28 players from last year. Temps started in the 20’s and never got out of the 30’s.

Due to the extra tags sold this year, payout in both the A & B brackets started in the quarterfinals rounds this year rather than the semifinal rounds. Breakdown of the payout was:
$1,485 99 Tags @ $15ea
-$250 Tag costs
-$50 paid to ADGO
$1,185 Total funds for payout

$948 80% - A Bracket Payout
$237 20% - B Bracket Base Payout (B bracket players add $5ea)

A Bracket Payout - $948
48% $407.00 1st
29% $245.00 2nd
15% $126.00 3rd

$25 $100.00 Quarterfinalist

B Bracket Payout - $357 ($237 Base & $120 from $5 buyin)
48% $165 1st
29% $85 2nd

The number of players made for some interesting bracket setups with numerous 1st round byes
Based on opening 52 person field, the players with the 11 lowest tags got 1st round byes: (see list above for people with 1st round bye)

All players start in the A pool. A loss in the players first match allows the player to move to the B pool. A 2nd loss in the A pool eliminates the player from the tournament. A players 1st loss in the B pool eliminates them from the tournament.
