Any one have Atlanta Open pics for Clash DVD?

Postby Randgolf » Tue Feb 02, 2010 9:30 am

Billy Crump from Clash DVD is searching for a picture to go on the cover of the Atlanta Open DVD that he produced from last year 2009. If you have anything (pictures) from that tournament please send them to him.

All 1100+ shots I took at ERP on Saturday are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/scottwalke ... 975503383/

Because of the weather (low light, cold, wet) there aren't that many (if any) that'd be usable, but if there's anything there that you or Billy want to use, let me know -- I haven't done any touchup on any of 'em, but could probably get something better out of specific shots with some judicious cropping and Photoshop work.

Gotta get one of Barry Schultz throwing out of the fenced off area saying "Danger" on the cover. I can't believe you sign up for this every year Rand...you are a real american hero...

I still cringe watching that video of a former world champion calling that legal.

I still love the part were he assumes that the wall is OB and takes a meter off that while inside the cage. What a joke.

Instead of bashing him for cheating we should be praising his skill. It had to be pretty damn hard throwing his disc into that area. Looked like there was only one way in and out. I missed the story regarding this, what happened? Where the rules concerning that area not covered in the player's meeting?

It wasn't covered in the brochure or meeting. But, a fenced area with "Danger Propane"
signs on it (see video) enclosed by a roof should be pretty obviously ob.

I never understood why anyone would actually want to climb in there and try and throw out. What if the disc didn't make it out? Would he try to do it again, kind of like Tin Cup? Wouldn't you just want to take the stroke and get a better position for the next shot?

Actually that would be the ONLY part that was right (if he was suppossed to go in there which he wasn't), since the ROOF of the building WAS listed as OB in the program - he would be able to take a meter from that OB line.

We don't have to ever worry about that again - in that spot - as the gym hole is going away as they expand the REC center.

Now if we can just get rid of Central all together we will be in great shape.

Everyone in the country can thank me for the PDGA requiring all players competeting in a National Tour to pass a rules exam. What a RUMP I am. I made a bad call now, everyone has to suffer the consequences.

Hey no problem guys. I'd be happy to sign whoopie cushions at this years AO.

Woody makes a good point, if Barry would have taken the stroke and played in outside of the fence, he would have been able to bomb an upshot way down the fairway for a better chance at saving a stroke or two. He ended up taking a double bogey anyway.

I think he should have been DQ'd for making such an asinine interpretation of the rules!

Oh yes, thanks Rand. It's about time that happened. I'm so tired of having to remind 'seasoned pros' of the simplest rules and of the arguments that ensue when they are confronted. Buncha' babies.

I landed in the same spot in the 2008 tourney for GA USDGC rep. Made the same climb in to get my disc (after the tournament). Having stood in that spot...it was a good throw.

What hole was that anyway. I haven't played at Central in over 2 years and I can't picture it.

The hole that teed off from under the power lines by the GYM that played to 12 D basket, and you won't have to worry about ever seeing anyone throwing from there anymore.

I saw this the other day and to me it actually makes a lot of sense. I am glad the PDGA has decided to do this. I am not sure if the PGA makes their ball golfers do it, but how many professional ball golfers do you think aren't familiar with their rule book?

I think this is a step forward for our sport to becoming more professional.

The ROOF was OB and in my opinion the roof over his head was part of the Rec center.
He used the OB relief rule while in OB to obtain a better lie and that was super douche.

I'm not disagreeing with you believe me, I am the one who was most upset, because I covered 99.9% of the OB's and things people could find to try to cheat with, and then Barry says because inside the locked Hazardous fence WASN'T mentioned it must be ok to play from.
For him it was fine, but for all the people that respected him and his game, that was the end of that probably - as it was FOR SURE for me.
