Chamblee First Methodist - Golfer Walkthrough Needed

Postby HuntleyHillsDawg » Wed Jun 25, 2008 8:57 pm

Our planning meeting for approval for the course has been pushed up to the beginning of next week. Therefore, we must have our proposed layout finalized by then.

I am hoping that some of you may be available to meet me, Nick Guerrero, Jordan Thrasher (assoc pastor) and others for a walk through of the layout we have designed thus far. We would like to meet at the church at 7:00 pm tomorrown night (6/26/2008). Sorry for the short notice, but we have had our time line moved up since the church wants the course online by August.

We've created a Google Group with aerial photos with layout and a .kmz file. Not exactly sure what that is but if you have the free Google Earth this should allow you to import the pin and tee locations for each of the holes. Here is the Google Group.

If you can make the 6/26/2008, Thursday walkthrough at 7:00 pm please email me.

I went to the church yesterday and walked through the proposed layout with Nick (nice guy).

It is pretty impressive how much the church is behind this project and I was a bit amazed by how much land they have.

This won't be a championship caliber course but instead will be a fun course to play and work on your game. It is ITP so that is another advantage, at least for me. I can get there quicker from Duluth than I can to ERP or Wills which are actually both closer to my home.

The church seems very interested in getting the public to come play the course and I think most folks will enjoy it. 9 holes to start, somewhat open for the accomplished DG'er, and then the future may have the wooded holes. When you play it, keep in mind the course will be set up for everyone to play it from children to older folks.

Why didn't you include the info on the lost disc in your post?

If you have your name and number on it the church locals will call you if they find it.

And probably say a little prayer that someone who throws that poorly doesn't knock out a stained-glass window...

The creek is worse. Nothing like looking at your disc under 3 feet of water and having to make the big decision to wade in or not. I tried to walk on top of the water but it didn't work.

I once had one richocet in to the water as the group ahead of me let me play through. One of the young gents had on flip flops and waded right in to get my Buzzz. I was so impressed I just gave it to him.

Moral of the story: Don't throw your disc in the water

I have faith that they would do so, however, the lost disc in question was/is a black esp Stratus (the PDGA one)

Lost it off in the water or over the creek throwing from the whites on 9 - I posted all the info on dgcoursereview.com, my second most visited site.

Thanks,
Chris
