Wraiths, Putt and Approach, and Ontario Rocs. All in max weights, and all are first come first serve. I don't remember the exact number #'s I ordered of each, but I believe it went 15, 10 and 15 respectively.

This years CFR discs are the INNCOLOR discs and will feature our own Dusty Jones artwork.

INNCOLOR discs take on average 11-13 weeks to be produced by Innova's standards. So if you order one be patient, let me know which one you want, and one of them will be in your hands shortly before tournament time. Once again these are the INNCOLOR CFR discs produced by Innova. They will be extremely rare, b/c they will not be produced with this stamp ever again.

Need to know what they will look like? The homepage will show you best!

Those two statements are not compatible. Dan already fixed it by changing the field limit in the top post to 144 total players.

Now it's up to we players to choose our divisions so that #Open + #AdvM + #AdvGM = 72!  (yes, i know Dan will work it out when the time arrives...no worries)

I understand what you mean now.

It would be nice to have 72 pros on one field. Go back and look at the history of this tourney through the pdga site and you will see that more ams sign up then pros. That is why some ams get to play with the pros....

So it appears that there is plenty of time to register now and change divsions 3-4 times before the event.
The Hula Hoop became so ubiquitous that the former Soviet Union banned the toy as a symbol of the "emptiness of American culture."

How far from the highway is "the JPM" in real time, not Mapquest time Dan, as if I can get back to Alpharetta before 7 pm I'll be able to signup and if not maybe next time. I know how long it takes to get back from REdan, but the pros are playing at "the JPM" where I 've never been, so I have no perpective on how long it would take to get back to A.

Thanks for your help,

It's only being worked on on one side so you could either get there or get home quicker by using 75-85

From 20 out to 285 then around to 400 and by then it's too late.

Thanks for the help, but it looks like it's just easier to not play than to make sure I can can leave "the JPM" by 6pm to make sure to get somewhere at least an hour away on time.

Thanks again to JPZ for the help!

As I wasn't EVER going to be playing the entire Hotlanta event anyways due to the much bigger Event called the PDGA Pro World Championships which ENDS on August 16th, (that I was the first person signed up for), I was mainly curious about stopping by and checking out the course and playing it, (meaning I needed to register) as I have never seen JPM and it sounds like a nice course.

So don't get too excited Chad, I may just show up and follow your group around to see how the course should be played.

Careful there Keith. I remember one tournament where Chad nearly broke his hand at Redan trying to keep up with a $20 bet that he wagered against Cuban.

If memory serves correct, $20 was lost, Chad's hand looked twice as big as his other one, and a pine tree at Redan didn't lose one needle in the whole process.

I believe that with all the signups so far it should come to no suprise that the AM side is filling up!!!

Less than 60 spots left in the ADV, Intermediate and Recreational divisions.

Don't delay! Unless you are planning to play pro or in an age protected division, I seriously would consider signing up sooner rather than later. Don't pull a Daniel and have to play Pro b/c you procrastinated to long. (I believe I did that two years in a row)

I forgot to include (I'm human) that these same discs will be available in the AM players packs as well.

However, I ordered additional tournament discs so that everyone who wanted one could attain one. You can then use one for play, one for the wall...Or make sure that you get the tournament disc of your choice (whether it be a wraith, roc, or putter) gets into your hands. These discs will be made available on a first come first serve basis.

For those of you who would just like the T-Shirt, and not a tournament disc, I will make those available to you as well. Price is $10. Lots of large and XL, and very few mediums.

Just let me know what type of disc/size you want, and I will put those items off to the side, and get them to you as soon as possible.

Bad news. Or good news?

I just got done talking to Innova. They just informend me that the discs that they have available for the INNcolor CFR's are Aviars, Destroyers, and Xcalibers. No mention of Wraiths , and definetly no Rocs.

While no one has specifically asked for a Roc and that is OK, for those of you who have preordered Wraiths I am doing everything I can to honor your requests. I poilitely informed my contact at Innova if he can scare me up some Wraiths that i have presold it would be a big help.

Once again, I apologize for the setback and I will keep you informed.

Daniel, could you find a way to take mail-in registration? I know of more than a few that only have that option and don't want to be left out. A one week out deadline wouldn't be unreasonable. BTW - Think we're all gonna' miss the start?

Its not that I could not take a snail-mail registration. I'll honor them if that is the only way a player can register. But I would prefer that all registrations occur online. Reasons being that it is easier to use (player info is already in electronic form) accessability to players info is more readily available and viewable (think PDGA #'s and e-mail addresses), registration is instantaneous, and there is no chance of it being "lost in the mail".

If a player absolutely has to use snail mail I won't turn down thier registration (as long as I am able to do so). I will also accept registrations in person (if I happen to be around and you have the available means to do so).

I hope this answers most of your questions...and no I don't think we will miss the start.

There is a new poll for you guys to vote on. Considering that many of you have never been in the TD drivers seat I am letting you decide the fate when it comes to Black 13 and who in the field will be playing from it.

If you have never seen Black 13 that is OK. No prior knowledge of the hole's validity is needed. Knowing distances, OB and par is a you problem (because you are the TD and you are supposed to know these things anyway).

Choose wisely TD grasshoppas! OB strokes could be aplenty! The tournament could be decided on 1 hole...or it might not be!!! The choice is yours!

Players list Updated!

So far the it is looking like all the Adv. players will be playing from black 13. You can always change your decision (because you are the TD!), but results will be final 2 days before the tournament. It also looks like the intermediates will be playing from it as well...top 2 choices will be taken if that is the case...

can anyone tell me why the pre reg list is not filling up as fast as past Atlanta events? Main concern for Open or Matsers. Some of us from Jax-Fla are considering making the trip.

Is there added Cash?

Lots of factors for the first question I guess. One answer could be the economy or the influx of tournaments available to players today. Another answer would be that many players know that they can wait to register b/c certain divisions rarely fill out or they traditionally fill out late...Especially the Open and Masters divisions for this particular tournament. If this was a one course two or one day event I would speculate that it would have already sold out. But that being said, I recieved 7 new registrations today...including two pros!

93 Spots left!!!

$$$There will defibnetly be added cash for this event. How much? As much as feasibly possible. I wouldn't want to run an event and forget the people who really make it happen...the players. So the exact amount will not fully be known untill the all sponsorship oppurtunities have been exhausted.$$$

I definetly welcome any out of town golfers. I know that it is hard to make the decision to travel long distances in order to play golf. Here is my promise to you: We will try to make this the best tournament possible...with the best payments as possible. The courses being used will be in nearly perfect conditions and we want you to come. Most of all we want you to have fun. Soak up the rays, throw some discs, and become a part of Hotlanta.

To the most exalted potentate of everything disc golf, Bob Satter, I think the registration is slow
due to the amount of events happening around the same time. Don't worry, there will be many more
entries. I hope you and your friends can make it. Look at it this way, you only have my sorry butt,
Hirsch, and some guy from Alpharetta to contend with at this point.

The CFR discs are in and they are sweet!!! We still have about 20 of them left for sell and they are on a first come first serve basis. They look too good to throw, but they also feel too good not to! I will try to make them (and me) as available as possible in the next couple of weeks leading up to the tournament. Tonight I will be at Redan park. Hit me up there if you would like to get your hands on one of these CFR's or you can sign up for Hotlanta while you are there...

Peace.

Players list has been updated. The Open division sure is shaping up.

There is a couple of things that are in the works for this tournament but are not quite definets yet, but all are exciting and I am hoping that they work out.

Construction at JP should nearly be complete. Hopefully by this weekend, those who wish to play on concrete will be able to.

If you are an AM, Intermediate, or Rec division and you are considering playing this tournmament, I strongly encourage you to not delay any further from signing up. While one of the courses is only a little more than half full the availability will go more quickly than you think. Don't pull a Daniel and have to play pro b/c you procrastinated too long...

Party at Randy's House!!!

It is confirmed-The awards ceremony and players party will be held at Randy Harris' house! I want to first of all thank him for opening up his house to the likes of use guys. :) He lives in between the two courses (not quite the middle), has a pool and hotub in his backyard (just perfect for a hot summer day) has a big front and back yard (great for dg games), and we can grill out!

So far here is the scheduled iteniery:

Players party- Sat. Night (time TBD)
Awards ceremony- Sunday immediately after the conclusion of the fourth round.

I fully expect there to be a ring of fire at the Awards ceremony, and if there is an ace shootoff it will happen there as well.

If you see Randy be sure to thank him for being so hospitable. Bring on the fun!

Don't worry about the Zombie fence....that's the least of your worries..............
you need to worry about "BIGFOOT"/"SASQUATCH"....I believe he lives in the woods to the right of 8 basket through 11 tee box scary stuff
Image

Also, about a week ago or so , by the bench on 11 towards the creek ,My wife (Leslie) and I saw a fox and a Coyote attacking and trying to snatch a baby deer.
Luckfully the Momma and myself ran off the coyote.. the fox fled back into the woods and the baby got away...
but keep your eyes open...............you never know what you'll see

Vizsla Club of Metro Atlanta

We would like to welcome back the Vizsla club as the official caterer of Hotlanta. This (I believe) will be thier third year in a row. The Vizsla Club of Metro Atlanta is a non-profit organization that rescues and tries to secure homes for abandoned/mistreated dogs. On-sight catering will be available at JP and Redan both days of this event.

Lunch....Yum!

I've re-worded the poll question. Final results will be concrete next friday (15th). Are you aware that you can change you decision at any time? It's kind of like being a TD....

dan I want a cfr excaliber if you still have them, and just to clarify my vote one step further I would like to vote no on the am`s playing black tee pads, the course is a blast from all locations and I'd really love to have a little arm left for sunday. All pads were poured yesterday when I played and things are really looking good! Thanks to all of you who made this course my new home.

I highly encourage not using the new "teepad" on hole 17. Its not even close to being the size of a real pad, not to mention the roots and plants in the niddle of it.

I understand wanting to make things "harder" but not at the cost of the holes integrity. Every player should be able to feel like they can SAFELY execute a tee shot without physical danger being a factor. Extend the pad, make it flat, and back it a couple feet from the tree. Its a hard shot, but its an unfair teepad.

All the pads are in. Only 1 and 13's black tee pads will be used. I agree with Dollar- 17's black tee is nearly invalid-(but still reminds me of hole 7 at Wills) :)

Players list is updated!

Redan park is reserved!

Sunday peanuts has been cancelled!

Just witnessed the best round at JP -4 (56) from the Hotlanta layout! (Rob K)

24 spots left for the Ams!

CFR's, Tourney Discs, Tourney T-Shirts still available for sale!

Zombie fence is gone!

3 Benches still need to be moved!

My cat keeps peeing on the carpet!

JP will be tournament mown next week!

Tournament is 9 days away!

sounds great ..but i'm pretty sure thats not the best round in layout form
i know of lower rounds from all the blacks same pin locations w/ more brush in the way
but great round none the less

on another note.

14 , 15 and 16 are playing much easier , due to the amount of under-brush on trees that have been removed
and 5, 6 and 10 are playing much easier due to the new tee's ....YEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! :!: :!:

Possibly two- Black 7 and Black 17. Neither will be used for Hotlanta b/c of safety/flow issues, and also b/c neither teepad offers a permenant surface to tee off from.

Open will play Black 1 (by utility shed), and Black 13 (top of the hill on walking track) and the rest golds.

Daniel,

Can you clairfy the OB for 13? I know the fence is OB on the right but what about the walking path when you tee off that is in front of you? I was told you had to cross the path to be in and anything short would put you at the RED Line, or Drop Zone, as if the grass plays as a lake. Is this correct?

Also...Thanks to all of the poeple who helped out on Sat with course maintenance!

Thanks in advance,

Course OB

Two Meter Rule is in Effect for both courses!

Redan Park:

You are OB if you are surrounded by water in any of the creeks that make their way throughout the course.

Special OB considerations:

Hole 1: Tennis Courts: Only inside the courts is OB. Asphalt on outside of fence is NOT OB

Hole 2: Missing the mando, or landing inside the Tennis courts

Hole 3:Over the fence in the football field.

Hole 4: Jim Warner Memorial Garden. On the football field.

Hole 6: Going over the fence is OB

Hole 13: Going over the fence is OB

Hole 14: Going over the fence is OB

Hole 15: Going over the creek that separates hole 15 from hole 16 is OB

Hole 16: Going over the creek that separates hole 16 from hole 15 is OB

JP Moseley Park:

You are OB if you are surrounded by water in any of the creeks that make their way throughout the course. The walking paths play as creeks/Ocean. Completely surrounded by asphalt is OB. Exceptions to that rule are tee #’s 9 (gold), 11 (gold), 13 (black and gold) Oceans are marked by rope and signs.

Hole 1: Going over or on the walking path to the right of the hole is OB

Hole 4: Going over or on the walking path to the right of the hole is OB

Hole 7: There is OB rope that separates hole 7’s green from hole 8’s fairway. OB if putt/approach/drive lands over that rope

Hole 8: Frog Pond is OB (marked by rope). On or over the walking path to the right of the first landing zone is OB.The walking path plays as a creek/Ocean. Oceans marked by rope.

Hole 9: OB rope along left and right of hole separate hole 9 from 13’s fairway, and mark oceans as well. Walking path also plays as a creek/ocean (marked with rope)

Hole 10: Double mando off of tee (gold). Drop zone is marked by orange flags. On or over walking path is OB.

Hole11: On or over walking path is OB

Hole 12: On or over walking path is OB

Hole 13: Over the fence is OB. Over the creek (behind the basket) is OB. From Black Tee: Disc must land in 13’s fairway to be in bounds. Hole 12’s fairway, the walking path, and fence line OB (beginning of 13’s fairway marked by rope). Proceed to drop zone to re-tee (gold tee pad).

Hole 18: The orange flags do not represent OB. They mark post holes. Watch your step!

Forgot about football field but you are correct.

I'm going to have to say if its in the creek and there is water in the creek, moving or not, and you are surrounded, then it is OB.

My vote is Black 13 for the Adv. Masters, but I may be biased.

The poll asks about "the ADV. Divisions", so a Yes vote includes Adv. Masters, right?

A yes vote could include masters. This poll lets you choose two choices. So if you wanted to the Adv. master division to play black 13, you would first vote yes, then vote for adv am, and adv.masters only. I felt that three choices might be just too much. Does it completly make sense? Probably not. But who doesn't question the TD nowadays?

So far they are already there. So if you want to throw a putter from gold 13 (where all adv. masters+ are currently playing from), I'm sure your competition will gladly let you do so.

So what does the poll say? Yes advanced are playing from Black 13, but only the ADV. AM division (not adv.masters).

That is unless everbody changes thier mind and they switch thier vote. Which they can do! The poll allows for changes! This new board rules!

so if someone throws into a creek bed and their disc is in a puddle of mud and water (surrounded) but the water isn't flowing or anything near that and this is the only puddle for 50ft in both directions.... it's OB ?

I'm just checking cause I know it'll come up during the tourney. This is where we need to be clear.

I interpreted the poll as all AM Divisions. Thanks for the clarification and for your work on this event. Now, is there any chance we can just make it one round each day?? :D

I'm just checking cause I know it'll come up during the tourney. This is where we need to be clear.

Yep. I'd have to say yes. The creek is a normal water hazard, not a casual one. If it is dry, then it is dry. If it is wet, it is wet. Nothing casual about a wet creek bed-no matter the distance between dry and undry. Rule 803.09 A

I need some clarification for 13 out of bounds at JP Moseley:

You cannot at any time, throw into 12s fairway? Has it been marked? I ask because i purposely throw over there to stay away from the fence.

And the creek on 13, is it OB if your in the creek bed? or do you have to be on the other side?

Don't worry Vern, even if it does get cut there will be plenty of wet grass bales to thwart any roller attempts.

You must clear 12's fairway and the path to be inbounds on 13. It is the creek and beyond at 13's green. And the first tree to your left on two at Redan. It's hard to miss the mando but i have seen it several times. I think i am correct on those.

Is hole 9's fairway out of bounds? Thats the fairway i always throw into, not 12, awful loss of thought.

I'm sure glad that it rained today...The grass will be at least two inches taller by Saturday, and the sticker bushes extra thick. I also persuaded the Parks dept. to put out more grass seed by the end of tommorow, so that any areas that were bare or less than 3 inches tall would have a chance to catch up....

No. There will not be a late fee for those who sign up on Saturday...but today is Thursday. Offer to pay for your friend online today and have him pay you back. This not only saves on time, but it also ensures that your friend can get in (which I can't guareentee on Sat.)

I've recieved several phone calls for people interested in signing up on Saturday. I'm telling you it sounds like a bad idea. By the time you have found my number you could have already signed up. So please, Please, PLEASE sign up before Saturday if you are planning on playing this event.

Holes 14-17 were cut today. Whether or not they had time to go back with finishing mowers has yet to be seen.

The 10' wide path on the other side of 13 is now almost suitable for another hole. It is still shule to go over there, but at least now you will be able to find your plastic, and avoid having your leg amputated trying to retrieve your disc. I also noticed a large snake  and a wasps nest over there-but you have to be really, really shule to be where they were.

For those Out-of-Towners and North-Siders:

I-75 and I-85 in Downtown Atlanta is construction-laden adventure. For the past several months several lanes have been closed (North and Southbound) on the downtown connector. If you really want to move well around Atlanta, please use I-285. I-75 south of the city is free and clear from downtown Atl. to the Florida line-however for you FLA. boys you might experience some delays near Valdosta to near Cordele. From South Carolina as far as I know I-20 should be a nice ride all the way to Redan and I-285. Teneessee-I-75 will be your best bet untill you reach I-285...AVOID I-75 Downtown. For TN. take I-285 to the east (Augusta) untill you hit I-20 (it is one way for you to reach Redan) or I-675 (approx. 10 miles farther from I-20 on I-285).

I-675 is a great route to reach JP from the northern suburbs.

I-675 starts on the eastern arc of I-285. Once on I-675, you will exit at exit 2. Take a left from the exit ramp (onto GA 23) and it will be a nearly straight shot to JP Moseley Park. GA 23 is also GA 42 and will become a combination of GA 23, 42, and 138. After exiting the Hwy. the road will turn into two lanes. It will then eventually turn into five lanes then back down to two lanes. Once it becomes two lanes again (approx. 8 miles after exiting) Millers Mill Rd. will be the first right over the first horizion. Look for the BP Station and take the right fork (Millers Mill RD.) before you reach BP. Park will then be on your left (1.5-2 miles).

Don't forget:

Both parks have bugs that bite or sting.

There will be plenty of oppurtunity to get sunburned.

To drink plenty of fluids.

Bring snacks to eat during the rounds.

There will be CFR's, Tourney Discs, and T-Shirts available for sale at the tournament.

Not only does the gear and discs look and feel great, but a large portion of the proceeds will go back to the overall player purse.

A couple of us played Redan today (Thursday). Are these the pin locations for pros on Saturday? They don't currently match up with the published list. Please clarify if you can.

To be more specific on the pin locations using the most-recently-published Redan map on this board: Today (Thursday) the following hole locations were in play: 2D (longest - down by the shule); 7C (longest - near the path to 8th tee); 13C (up the hill on the left next to woods); 17 was not in location 17A (short right). All other holes were as listed above.

If they stay where they are the course will play longer, if they're moved to the listed locations there could be a birdie fest. Either way is OK by me - Just want to nail down where these baskets will be on Saturday.

Thanks,

All the pins (except for 2-3) should be in their correct position by the doubles tonight. Holes that might be affected : Hole 7- I think the short pin anchor is having some issues. Hole 18's med. pin placement is broken- which will make 18 long but will negate Hole 9 from playing trad. long. (it will play Med. Short)

Entries went from 99 last night to 111 tonight. That means only 33 spots left
for a 144 spot field. I'd recommend getting there early tomorrow if you are
not in already. There will be a lot of last minute sign ups. There always are.

Yep, after checking out the website (PDGA) the par is definately skewed and should be adjusted.

Other than this minor blip, Id love to say the following....

Great Job Daniel, Josh, all that helped out (Robbie, Drew, Brett, Sponsors: Kevin, Grease, Solstice)

What a great tournament that daniel and josh put on for us. As this was my first tournament, i can only say that I had a blast and cant wait to play some more. Robert and John (the group i played with in MA3) were great competition. Eric was a great addition to the division and even though we were ragging on him, Crakel made it fun. My overall expirience is glowing and cant wait to get those guys a JP again so I can get another shot at them.

JP came out glowing in my opinion. The course was in wonderful condition and the set up was awesome. And Redan does what Redan does... (proves that courses dont have to be forever long to provide a test.)

Once again great job to everyone involved. If you took some pics, please post them or email them to me donniekreece@yahoo.com - Id love to put them up on the JP Moseley myspace page if you dont mind.

Wanted to give thanks to some important people who helped out @ Hotlanta
1. Thanks to anybody that that filled up the water jugs and toted them to a hole
2. Thanks to the ladies who fed us this weekend. My sandwich at Moseley was the bomb!!!

...oh yeah, and thanks Daniel & Josh as well as the staff who ran that DG Tourney thingy and got the courses looking great. 8)

JPM's par is set at 60. I'm sure that the issues with the ratings has to do with the fact that JPM has never held a PDGA tourney round (so therefore the course does not have a rating), and that final round ratings will not be fully tabulated till all scores are in.

I will be putting the 3rd and 4th round in today.

Daniel you should check the PDGA website leaderboard then, because It says that I was 15 over par after the first two rounds when I was only 3.

Im not worried about the ratings as much as the scores.

The reason why the Recreational division shows no round ratings at JP is b/c there are not enough rated rounds in your division. Meaning that there were not enough PDGA members with a high enough ranking to quailfy you for a round rating, and JPM did not have any history of Rec players.. However, this does not mean that you will not receive a player rating. The PDGA will simplly take your ratings from Redan to formulate your new rating.

Great. Sorry I couldn't make it to the awards. Y'all did a fantastic job with Hotlanta this year and I vote for the same format in the years to come.
