ADGO Winter Club Member EventCourse Install/Preview/Bag Tag Challenge @ Perkerson ParkSunday February 19th 2012
Mark your calendars for 2012's first ADGO members event. We will need a firm headcount one week prior to the event (by Feb 12th, 2012) to secure an adequate amount of tools.
We will be charged by the head and will also use this headcount to purchase food. Use this form to signup.
As you may know, installation of the disc golf course at Perkerson is finally underway. This event is replacing the already scheduled Perkerson Pandemonium. In an effort to get the course installed, we'll be combining a work day in the morning and a round in the afternoon on the new course. We'll be clearing the course that morning, so this will be the very first time the new holes (most of the course) is played. In between, the ADGO will serve up a lunch for members. Steve Adams will be running the 2012 Atlanta Area Bag Tag Challenge
and will run the initial bag tag match in conjunction with the afternoon round. There are only 65 tags this year, so bring $15 to purchase one at this event.
Your time is valuable! In fact, each volunteer hour will count $20 toward matching CASH funds that will be available for this installation (and leftover for future installations). We have already raised nearly $15,000 in matching funds ($9k in baskets + course fund + volunteer hours to date). The deal with the city is that the installation must be 100% by the disc golf community -- that inclues all clearing and teepad install -- in return, they have purchased 19 Gateway Titan baskets with 55 pin placements.
We'll also be using this event to kick off an ADGO reorganization campaign. More details on ADGO reorganization here.
More details to follow, but we're looking at decentralizing the organization by growing the country/city entity level clubs. Your ADGO dues will stay at the local entity level and can be spent directly in your area on your course.Key Times:
8am-9am: Arrive and renew or signup for ADGO (cost is $15/year). If possible please signup online here prior to the event.
9am - 12pm: Workday on course installation.
12pm: Lunch. Provided by the ADGO.
1pm: Play a round on the new course that we've just constructed. First ever round on the new holes. 2012 ADGO Membership Fees: $15.
