Elimination/Skins combo...who'd play?

Postby billnchristy » Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:52 am

Here is an idea that could raise funds and be a heck of a good time to watch.

No divisions

64 entrants (16 cards of 4)

$20 entry

Random card draw

Once the 16 cards are drawn play starts on the front 9 of whatever course the event is run at, at the end of 9 everyone returns to tourney central and the best score on each card receives $20 and moves to the next round, everyone else is eliminated.

The now 4 cards play the back 9. Top of each card moves on and receives another $20.

2nd round, skins. Last card plays for skins on each hole. 80% of the pot is put into the skins, in this case if the event sold out $700 (really $704) would go to skins which would provide $35 per hole plus 2 2x holes. $180 is then donated to the course or if you want to frill it up you could make a player pack to console the losers...TD choice.

Obviously this would draw more Open and ADV guys but really, with random draw and a good day you could make it past at least the first round and break even.

A little variety wouldn't hurt would it?

Looking at a few things, up the first round to a full round that way everyone got a round in and the randomness is taken down a little.

Second part elim could still be 9 holes and then skins could be 9 or 18.

Also if $20 is too high obviously something like that could be changed too. A $5 entry fee would still be played for $7(ish) skins even after paying out the "top 16" 2x their entry fee.

I guess the biggest question is would 75% of the players be "happy" walking away with nothing for a chance at some major moola.
