On a side note, it's ok Bob, we understand that you are over 40 and can't stay up till midnight to sign up. Sorry you missed out. But people will drop out, so hget on Keith's mental waitlist.

First come, first serve is fair too - I was not suggesting it wasn't - again just throwing out a suggestion
I am irritated with myself by and large. The coolest course in Georgia .

Funky Bobby J wrote:I am not saying it's unfair - but like Earlwood - a tournament selling out in minutes, there is a lot of luck as to whether you get in or not too. I had no idea that Crucible would sell out in a few hours - I should have camped out to assure my spot. Actually, I had a busy Saturday with kids stuff and totally forgot about checking when I woke up - not only is it hard to stay awake Hugh, but us old folks are easily addled.
I still say what I proposed above is more fair, but it would be more work for the TD and I am not sure I'd want to mess with it. I think that I'd just rather see my event sell out in a few minutes/hours.

If you change anything, why not just open up 18 spots and make all groups 5-somes? What would be the point of
just letting 4 additional players in?

Kade and FBJ, you may now commence fighting it out for Greg's spot.

Adding a card to this course will have absolutely little to no effect on those playing b/c of space and time. You want to call me lazy, ok. Richardhead you are bald, fat, and I hope you fail as a t.d.You are lucky to have another tournament in the area the following day otherwise you may not see the 12 people that are signed up. Do you even have 12 people yet? Go boost your own tourny thread.

Dave, Matt, Jon? Any takers for MPG? You can probably eat our lunch (or at least mine, unless of course it's BBQ) -Chris

In the past you just posted a message on the board and first one to reply gets the spot.
Has that changed?

So why add a ghost card now?
keith johnson wrote:Usually there are 2-5 people who don't get in and want to be "informed" if a spot opens up and with the usual 6-10 people who sign up and then can't make it I'm usually posting on the board first come first served after going thru the "mental waitlist", but with the CRUCIBLE and Lake Russell the people NOT signing up in time and the people rotating out go up DRASTICALLY - which is why I'll sometimes rattle off numbers of how far down the list someone is if they ask - so essentially NOTHING has changed in the 3 years I've been running the GSSS.

Who said I AM adding a ghost card?
IF I do it will be to REWARD the Athens players who are spending this SUNDAY helping to set the course up, but most of those are already in or not able to play, so it will be at MY descretion and looking at all the angles - such as almost 2 hours more daylight than the first 2 years, plus the course has the ability to put a ghost card in 3 different spots without seriously affecting course flow.
Besides even cavemen change their ways for the greater good sometimes.![]()
Just to REALLY torque you - if I do add a ghost card, I'm only gonna take REC players, and I'll start you on the same hole as the original 4 some so the REC guys can harrass you while you throw seeing how fond of them you are.

I read this entire thread and now know about the short leash the course has, the topic of a ghost card, the various teepad configurations, the fact the Saints won the Super Bowl, and I have a pretty good understanding of how to get there. Being a first time Crucible player I still need to ask maybe the most important question of all.
What is for lunch? BBQ? Pizza? Or should I plan to bring my own.
Thanks,
Vermin
