GSSS'10

Postby keith johnson » Tue Sep 15, 2009 1:26 am

It's that time of year again boys and girls to get out some information about the GSSS for 2010.

Stay tuned to http://www.supersixseries.com and the 2010 GSSS thread on this site for all the latest info.

There are a FEW changes in 2010 for the continued betterment of the Series.

There will still be 6 PDGA Sanctioned Events – The First 5 are C-tiers and the Series Finale is an A-Tier.

The first Event will be at White Oak Park on Feb 13th, 2010 – and the Series Finale Event at Central Park is tentatively set for September 24/25/26th, 2010.

For the GSSS Events in 2010, the starting course at White Oak Park (which has a pavilion, electricity and restrooms) and the last 2 Events are changed in position, but by moving the CRUCIBLE to Event #2 it allows more daylight for payouts and course teardown. Lake Russell stays in its traditional weekend but it is now Event #5 followed 2 weeks later by the 3 day Series Finale at Central Park which will have 1 round per day played with Tee Times.
The series continues to have Events in the Western, Southern, Northern and Eastern areas around Metro Atlanta, utilizing some of Georgia’s finest (including the top in the state) courses.
To allow even better player planning, the individual signup windows will now be 6-7 weeks in advance for each Event, except for the A-tier which will begin NOV 1st, 2009 and will continue until the 180 spots are sold.

2010 Event Schedule:
Event #1 White Oak Park – FEB 13th - Dallas, GA - Individual Event signup begins Jan 2nd, 2010
Event #2 The CRUCIBLE – MAR 20th - Athens, GA - Individual Event signup begins Feb 6th, 2010
Event #3 McCurry Park - MAY 8th - Fayetteville, GA - Individual Event signup begins Mar 27th, 2010
Event #4 Meeks Park - JUN 19th - Blairsville, GA - Individual Event signup begins May 1st, 2010
Event #5 Lake Russell - SEPT 11-12th - Elberton, GA - Individual Event signup begins Jul 31st, 2010
Event #6 Central Park – SEPT 24/25/26th - Cumming, GA - Individual Event signup begins NOV 1st, 2009
TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR GUARANTEED 1st Place payout in the OPEN MEN Division at the Finale!!!!

There will be the same entry fees as in '09 for the first 5 Events in 2010 (A-Tier price will be higher)

You can sign up by going to the GSSS website http://www.supersixseries.com with NO signup fees!
You can also find all the GSSS merchandise including Hats, Beanies, Collared Dry Fit shirts, T-shirts, Towels, etc. as well as discs with the GSSS or A-Tier Fundraiser logos on them for only $5 shipping or by picking up your merchandise wherever you see me playing disc golf (Tournaments and Doubles) on the GSSS website.

The SERIES continues to improve in 2010!

Thanks to all who have been a part of the Series in 2008 and 2009 - and if you missed out in the first 2 years, PLEASE FIND OUT WHAT THE GSSS IS ABOUT IN 2010!

Some of the changes that took place in 2009 to make your SERIES experience better continue in 2010.

The 50/50 basket raffle for each Event continues in 2010. Tickets can be purchased for $1 each, 4 for $3 or 8 for $5. There is NO LIMIT to the amount of tickets purchased. All monies collected at each Event will be split 50/50 with the winning number getting half of all the monies collected, and the other share going to the GSSS Charity for 2010 - The EDGE Program. In 2009 the winners’ share of the 50/50 kitty was worth over 60 bucks on average at each Event!

5 tickets will be drawn at each Event with prizes awarded to each of the 5 (last one drawn wins the 50/50 kitty) and each of those 5 tickets will kept for the drawing at the end of the Series for a Sportcatcher basket! There will be a 1 in 30 chance to win the basket this year, plus a great chance to win some extra cash or goodies at each Event.
Seeing that all GSSS CTPS are always free and not buy-in, you can take your normal 3-10 dollars usually spent on CTP buy-ins and spend it on Raffle tickets.
The money raised for EDGE during the Series will be returning to Georgia and be committed to GROWING Disc Golf in Georgia Schools and Parks.
Read more on EDGE here: http://www.edgediscgolf.org
There will be no changes to the Series Points Bonus payouts, and you will still need to only play in 3 of the first 5 Events to qualify for the payouts.
Signup for all 6 Events at one time begins November 1st and will run until December 31st, 2009 or until 22 (TWENTY TWO) spots are sold ONLY.

More info later!

For the 2009 Series the 22 spots sold out by DEC 15th, 2008.

Apologies in advance to Greg, but is has been 7 days since posting here.
Also no one had to listen to me hype it in person the last 2 weekends at the 2 local Events, so I'll hype it here instead now.

Due to my own fault the GSSS sale items and 2010 sponsorship opportunities were not turned on until now.
ALL GSSS merchandise for 2010 as well as ALL other GSSS merchandise is now available to be purchased.
Specials are also in effect for purchases with FREE stuff available depending on amount spent up to and including free shipping.

Like last year there are bonuses for signing up for or sponsoring all 6 Events, as well as random prizes as always for first all 6 signup, first sponsor of all 6, and other random numbers. Please go here for your sponsorship purchases: http://www.sdsproshop.com/pd-2010-serie ... orship.cfm which are also now available.

More info can be found up a couple of posts and at http://www.supersixseries.com

Also as a friendly reminder in 3 (THREE) days - Less than 72 hours from right now the all 6 Events signup goes on sale!

I look forward to seeing everyone at Events the next few weeks and if anyone would like anything brought to them, I'll be at Fright Flight, PPIC3, Gwinett Open, Pam B Childs Memorial, and of course the ADGO Member Event, and I'll be able to get you anything you might need.

There are still GLOW Champion discs in several models available, as well as sweet INNcolor Ontario Rocs and Aviars that are fundraisers for next years A-Tier GSSS Series Finale.

Thanks again to everyone for their support of the Series over the last 2 years and thanks in advance for your continued support going forward.

Been trying since 0001hrs....

I might suggest picking another sign-up time since the first one was missed. And since this disc golfer took two Benadryl anticipating a firm start time I can't stay up too much longer before dosing off at the keyboard.

Ok- now that I've finished ruining Greg's Event, but given him the greatest thread in ADGO history since the veggie thread  - it's time to refocus on the GSSS.

I'll have the GSSS Champion Glow and INNColor Fundraisers discs with me, and will offer the sale prices at the GCO on this SAT, Perkerson this SUN, Pam Childs Memorial next SAT, and the ADGO Member Event next Sunday for anyone and everyone who wishes to get a head start on their holiday shopping.

There are only 11 spots left for all 6 Events and after they are sold, the 1st Event at White Oak park on FEB 13th will go on sale JAN 2, 2010.
You can signup for all 6 events at www.supersixseries.com

Just a reminder that you can sign up for the Series Finale A-Tier featuring 1 round a day with tee times at Central Park anytime by going to
http://www.pdgasignup.com/Qstore/Qstore ... 1256866840

There are only 158 spots left with a field limit of 180.

See everyone all over Georgia in the next 2 weeks!

http://hiltongardeninn.hilton.com/en/gi ... ndex.jhtml

You can find out all the information and book your reservations online in less than 2 minutes. You do NOT need to enter any credit card information unless you wish to check-in after 4PM - then you need to enter it to guarantee your room is held for late check-in. So you can book early and book often!
You can get these rates during ANY of the days listed in blue on the Hilton page - you can stay for the night after the Fly Mart Friday night, or Players party Saturday night and wake up refreshed for the next days round on the comfortable adjustable beds found in EVERY room.

If you wish to book the 2 room suites, just click on the Book a Room button, pick your date(s) and preferences, click continue, then click on the $89.00 button, click continue and you are good to go!
As of now there are only 6 left of the original 10 held. There are 4 per floor and 16 overall at the hotel - if there is sufficient interest, I could see if they would release the others.

With 1 round per day using Tee Times you will also have plenty of time to enjoy all the amenties this hotel offers when not on the course.

For individual event info read this posted in the GSSS #1 Event Thread: Re: GSSS EVENT#1 at WHITE OAK PARK 2/13/2010 - INFORMATION
by keith johnson » Wed Feb 10, 2010 9:34 am

Just got confirmation from John Inman that he will be supplying lunch consisting of:
" burgers, dogs, chips, steamed veggies, drink and something sweet for 5 bucks" with all proceeds to benefit the Special Olympics which John' s wife works with.

So for the players and families on SAT so you can get your food and do something for a good cause at the same time.

See EVERYONE SAT morning!

ONLY 135 SPOTS LEFT

After talking with lots of players the last 2 weeks in Vegas and at the Memorial, the Series Finale now has 45 players entered with players from 13 different states represented so far  and with several top names still to possibly commit after checking their touring schedules.

Several other top names may or may not show depending on if their significant other will be playing in the US Womens DGC which is the same weekend in North Carolina - some mentioned a possibility of splitting for the weekend - but that would be determined later.

I know it's a ways off and I know 135 spots seems like alot but as the other GSSS Events have shown, it doesn't take long to sell out 50 spots.
Anyone wishing to play in the Finale can signup HERE: http://www.pdgasignup.com/Qstore/Qstore ... 1256866840

The Event has been on sale since NOV 1st so you don't have to mark it on your calendar to be up at Midnite on some day to signup - you can do it now.

Sponsorship opportunities and sponsor discs are available here: http://www.supersixseries.com/page1006.html

Good news for 6 players that will get in to Lake Russell to replace the "Top 6" which will be here instead: http://www.vibramdiscgolf.com/playerscu ... ls-se.html

Super Lame!!!! It's not for 6 players, it's for 24 players. The top 6 in the region just get a reserved spot into Rand's Qualifier.

Looking at the link it looks like single elimination. As if I'm gonna miss 3 days of Lake Russell to drive to the IDGC where if I lose my weekend is over.

Well - we know for sure Rand won't be at Lake Russell.

I LOVE match play stuff as it gives guys like me can hang with the big boys because even if I flame out on 1 or 2 holes I still have a chance to only lose 1 hole instead of the whole enchilada like in singles play.

Re: GSSS'10 WHAT THE BLEEP!

Postby K-Mack » Wed Jun 23, 2010 11:10 pm

I just saw my name listed on last weekends tourney at Meeks?

I wasn't there and I just found out that someone pulled a pretty good prank playing as me at the tourney.

Who the hell is really going to believe I could play 920 golf average for a whole tourney?

This is CRAZY!!! I can't believe it. How could you all be so gullible to fall for this guy. My homie said this dude looked like the old shaven me, but I've been rocking the goatee.

I have been so busy filming my new movie I forgot about the event, my only guess of who could have pulled off a stunt like this is got to be one of these guys.

All I can find out about points are that you need 3 out of the first 5 minimum to qualify. My question is what does each point stand for? Place in tourny or number of players beat in that tourny... or something else... I guess I don't have a chance to win extras since i dont see my name on the list even w/ a 2nd and 1st...?

Explained here: http://www.supersixseries.com/page004.html

If you play in 3 Events you end on the list - if not then you won't - as I stated earlier before Event #4 "There are 32 people with 2 Events who need 1 more of the next 2 Events to qualify for the bonuses."

If anyone only has 2 then they need to play Event #5 to have a chance at the bonus payouts.

There were 2 people signed up over the weekend for the Woods (LR official waitlist) that will be the next 2 players in.
So far 3 have made it in from the Woods list - we are 10 days away.

Camping can be checked at the state website for Richard B. Russell state park.

Nothing - you left after me saying both days - must be present to win

Prandy and others came back for their money - I accepted it as the real first place winner - because technically I 'm not ON GA's team - I'm the honorary captain :)

You couldn't even beat me at Lake russell - why should you be rewarded?
