How exactly is this going to work? Everyone who signs up over the 72 full field # will then be moved to the woods (how many rounds in the woods) and when will we know if we are in either the standard 18 or moved into the woods. Dont mean any harm just that the difference between the 2 are not well defined as how it will work. You still the man Keith, great series.

The Events have SEPARATE Signups as they are separate Events.
The Woods Event Players will be the only ones who can get into the GSSS #6 Event as the "non waitlist waitlist people"
There will also be a Waitlist with NO CHARGES once the 2 SEPARATE Events are sold out.
Players that drop from Event # 6 will be replaced by the people in order of signup for the Woods Event if they want the spot.
As those people come out of the Woods Event to Event #6 the people on the NO CHARGE Waitlist will be asked if they wish to play the Woods Event in the order they signed up, and if so, then they will be given an online link to signup for the Woods Event at that time.

There are only 43 spots available for the GSSS# 6 Event and there are only 36 Spots available (9 holes times 4 players) for the Woods Event.
Both Events will play 54 holes(36 Sat and 18 Sunday) for ALL players and a final 9 will be held for the top 4 OPEN, PRO Masters, ADV Men From Event #6 and top 4 in OPEN and ADV ONLY (if there are 4 players in those divisions) from the Woods Event which will be held on the 18 Hole course.

Seems like it shouldn't be that hard to figure out, but maybe laying it out line by line will make it easier to figure out.

If anyone signed up in the first 3 hours when the 43 spots SOLD OUT! and saw there order go thru, you should be in - as when it was sold out it did not let you sign up.
If you signed up for the Woods Event you will be the ones contacted in order of signup for the Woods Event if anyone drops out of GSSS #6.

I'd advise you to signup for the Woods Event if you think you might go, because last year 21 spots changed over in the last 12 days as people's plans changed. It is still TEN weeks away. And if the Woods Event fills up and sells out and you still are planning on going to Lake Russell sign up for the waitlist when it gets turned on in case people signed up for the Woods Event plans change.

Thanks in ADVANCE to the 108 possible players for participating in whichever capacity you are for the best vacation weekend of Disc Golf in the state of Georgia which is my opinion as a player(it's a little more hectic of a weekend vacation as a TD. )

As Chris was over here as Co-TD of Hotlanta this weekend, he hasn't sent me the orders yet so I do not know who has gotten in yet. When I get the emails from Chris I will update the PDGA site, which hasn't had any people to add until these orders as it went on sale 7/4/09.

I know 43 people names will be added when I know who those 43 people are.

I will also start a thread for the Woods Event on the ADGO message board and will list the names there (not in this thread to keep the clutter down in this thread) in order of timestamp.

After 10 days of having no phone or internet at home service for the most part due to ATT rerouting lines on Highway 140, I have access again - but due to getting up in 5 hours, I'll update PDGA website TUES night sometime after 7PM.

21 total Pros with 24 ADV and 6 ADV Masters making 51 of the 72 spots.
Only 11 of the 43 available spots went to REC players.

Lake Russell means one thing to some people, Chop's Cheesecake!!

I'm doing another "Chuck for the Cheesecake" this year. It will benefit the ClifFund and it will be Hole #11.
It will work the same way as last year. For the two rounds on Saturday the four closest people who have entered will get a quarter of a Chop's Pumpkin Cheesecake.TM Pending There will be a tape measure and paper by the basket to measure and record. I have yet to determine buy in cost ($2-$5) as sometimes people add extra items(hint ,hint) but will keep you posted as it gets closer to the tourney.

For the uninitiated: I am not going to brag and tell you how good Chop's Pumpkin Cheesecake.TM Pending is but even if you are not a cheesecake fan, get in on a chance to win it. There are some golfers who will trade cash, discs and even sexual favors (Q?) for just that little elbow of crust on the outer edge of the cake. I will, if I am one of the lucky 4, have a $1 a throw CTP for my quarter after round 2. I will be around the sign up table Saturday morning so don't miss out on a taste of a Lake Russell Open tradition!

After visiting yesterday and spend 5 hours prepping the entire 27 holes for 3 weeks from now, the only change from last years layout will be hole 13 as the hillside postion has NOT been maintained and it's not worth spending 2 hours to get it ready.
ALL areas between baskets to next tees have been trimmed, stray branches have been removed, the little stuff growing in the fairways cut down and the basket and tee areas cleaned. Several trees had gone down on the 18 hole course slightly making Hole 1 slightly easier and the right side of Hole 12 by the basket a little more open. Others being down made being off the fairway a little bit more tricky to recover from depending on your lie.
The woods holes have had all the branches, downed trees and logs removed from the "main" fairways, and anyone who has played any of the 27 holes in the past few weeks won't recognize the place when they return 3 weeks from now.

The fairways on 1 and 18 have been mowed the past week (visible from the road) and the other 16 holes were mowed at beginning of August and probably will not be mowed again before the Event. The grass in the fairways is low and not a problem.
The rough is higher than in the past as they did not mow it down as the usually do every November due to the budget crisis, but it is still not tall enough to keep anyone from throwing out of it.

Times and Hole descriptions will be posted soon.

UPDATE!!

Just got off the phone with the Park Manager at Lake Russell Keith Whittaker who said all 18 of the fairways have now been mowed. They are also taking PVC pipes to mark the other pin locations and he said they might get to clean the hillside area of hole 13.
If so we MAY play that position on Sunday.

He also said someone had complained that the rough needed to be mowed down to the same length as the fairways. We both had a good laugh over that concept. He had checked on several courses in the PDGA directory which talked about having rough with BRIARS and VINES, and he said that at least their rough is all grassy and is no more than 20-24 inches high which still allows people to throw from it.
He said it will get cut again in November as usual and whatever height it grows to is where it will be until next November.

I look forward to the continued partnership with the park for all future Disc Golf Events and I look forward to playing at this jewel of a course in Georgia.

In my experience and from the players I have talked to (and it's alot of them), we wanna know where we stand after the first round or any round for that matter, as soon as the scores are tallied and organized. It gives us something to discuss during lunch. It also allows the player to make some decisions. For example: If I am tied for 2nd, with 1 stroke behind the leader, and there are a few of us that are neck and neck with a shot to win; than I would spend my time at lunch differently (quickly eat and go practice) than being in the middle of the pack (time to goof off and hang with the bros).
Some tournaments go as far as to scroll the scores across a digital display. Some print them out and post them in multiple places. Some even post it on the website asap. You hide yours like it's some big secret? Why? Please explain.

Some tournaments go as far as to scroll the scores across a digital display. Some print them out and post them in multiple places. Some even post it on the website asap. You hide yours like it's some big secret? Why? Please explain.

Because then you'll come back and "hopefully" pay attention to any changes or announcements made before the second round.
By the way it is always available as Brett and I sort it and rearrainge it for the second round, and then it's MY time to eat and get ready for the next round.

There's your CORRECT answer in a nutshell, and then when things happen in the first round like at Deerlick that need to be addressed for everyone, no one knows and things go wrong - Even with people knowing things still went wrong, so I can't imagine what would have happened if I didn't remind everyone to be nice to the other park patrons.

There is almost always something that comes up, or something I see playing in the first round that needs to be covered, and to do that there has to be people to convey it to. If holes change because of droputs - which always happens, weather issues, etc. and you aren't there, then things have to be conveyed individually instead of telling everyone at 1 time.

Damn, I wish you would have told me sooner, I'll just keep you from looking at it this year then so you won't have to stress out and you can have a good time. If last year you had to look at what hole you were on and then rush to it - A) you weren't at the meeting, or B) weren't listening when your name was called, or C) are really slow at grasping what hole you're on as there is always at least 15-20 minutes before the rounds start at EVERY GSSS Event and you could crawl to any hole at Lake Russell from Tournament Central in 15 minutes - so I'm NOT buying your excuses mister.

You did say that the board is up for the first 1/2 hour. Please consider that many players leave the premises to get lunch and when they return it is usually in the 2nd half of lunch. I totally understand the idea that some player will just view the board and take off to their holes. Which, in my opinion, is their own damn fault for missing the very important 2nd players meeting. If their lucky, maybe someone in their group stuck around for the meeting like they were asked to. Either way, if you would make an exception this once at Lake Russell and keep the board up, I will volunteer to be your personal "get your ass to the players meeting" shout out boy. I can also make a few signs that say "Mandatory Players Meeting"

P.S. - While I do enjoy playing in your events and the payouts are always awesome. My biggest complaint would be not getting to view the scoreboard. That always seems to be the discussion at lunch. Instead of talking about where we stand, we talk about why the board isn't visible and where we hope we stand. Then worrying about whether we really should be sitting around here or out there working on parring the nemesis hole. Not trying to nit-pick at your methods, but just relaying the voice of many players who pay to play in your events. Think of it as feedback.

I like to review all of the divisions. It's really difficult to do that with some time constraints.
I'm sure you have a counter arguement for every complaint. Again, this is just player feedback, in which I feel like your tuning Clunck out and just counter arguing. Although what he said is very true for myself as well and many other players also. It's not really a right or wrong issue here. It's just preference.

Since I've told you what I don't like most, I guess it would be cool to mention what I do like the best.

Feedback and things noticed from year 1 are why some things changed in this year - and why things will change again in certain areas next year - again for the better I hope.

My TD style will most likely not change a whole lot due to A) I've had it work well for 14 years, B) I'm stubborn, and C) I don't NEED to reinvent the way Events are run, just improve areas that REALLY need it in my opinion.
I have taken things that I see from all the Events I play around the county and in the state, and incorporate things I see done well, and leave out things people dislike.

If the board is the only thing I have to worry about, then I'm ok with it. I've been to lots of BIG Events where you NEVER saw the board until the holes were called out, and I've been to Events where you could set the board however you wanted and have 5 and 6 somes with 3 somes and open holes, along with lots of varying ways in between - but in the end, everyone kinda already had an idea how they are sitting from talking with friends, or finding out when they look at the board before it closes or during the calling of names.

You guys will just have to adjust your lunch schedules - check board first, then go eat and discuss how badly you and your buddies are getting their butt's kicked, the same way Brett and I whine to each other while we are doing the scores and posting for the next round BEFORE we eat and get ready.

Thanks for thanks on the different items for players packs - that's one of the things that came from seeing things that myself and other players noticed, and also with the fact that since I'm trying to SELL GSSS discs, it's kinda silly to give away discs, especially for 6 Events.

One other thing - and please take this the right way - I'm NOT discounting what you or Chad is saying - and I do listen to what is said about the Events, but in MY opinion, the board is not a deal maker on the majority of players playing or not playing GSSS Events - and is a lower priority item on things I'm working on to improve the Series for 2010.

Check - why add the extra punishment of a penalty stroke when you are already punished distance and difficult lie - it has never made any sense to me. Don't even get me started that many out there do not know what 2 meters is.

Are you drinking before you even get to the lake?
Nothing you posted is accurate, makes sense or even deserves a response - all you had to do was read and it is pretty self explanatory how the GSSS Events worked last year and also how they worked for this year.
But you know me, I don't like to let people misconceptions linger or draw other people (like Josh) to the wrong conclusions - so here it goes.

The GSSS main post has been stickied since October 29th in case anyone even needed to read it again, plus there is even another website (www.supersixseries.com) with all the info so in case you missed it on the ADGO site, you could read it there.

Please pay attention in a few weeks - because all the changes and info on the 2010 Series including the A-Tier Finale will be posted on both websites, and I don't want you - Rob McElreath to miss out on anything. This is kinda hard for me to post, but i feel that i need to be responsible and let everyone know who i came into contact with this weekend that i was diagnosed with swine flu this morning. I started feeling a little sick saturday night and into sunday, as the day progressed sunday i felt worse and worse. I went to the doctor this morning because i could barely walk or sit still from my fevers.

Again i am sorry if i infected anyone but it is highly contagious, I will not be at work this week. I am still iffy about what i am going to do for the Augusta Classic. The doctor said it could be the entire week though, it just depends on when the fever subsides. Hopefully i can rely on some club members to help me run the tournament, and i will defiantly not be there if im still sick, so dont be scared to come or not sign up.

The only leaking gas was easily avoided by just standing upwind of the "leaker"!
I played a round with a Funky Johnson, a Woody and Grease and am only minimally scarred!

The downside:
I played like crap.
The lake was chilly so I couldn't float for longer than one beer.

Seems like Rec should have a round rating for the second, but not the 3rd round. The 2 first rounds were the same layout, so the propagators carry through. The 3rd round had a basket move, so Rec didn't have enough propagators to get a rating.

If it doesn't work for whatever reason, they will still be rated correctly when the process is done for the official ratings.

You only need 5 "Gators" to get ratings, all 7 are current and have ratings already, and all 7 REC players played the same course even with the basket move so that is not in play.

You guys must have been sleeping in the rough, because I tromped through the course setting up, tearing down, preparing it, cutting dead stuff, raking, sweeping, playing and bringing water jugs through 4 fairways of rough walking in a straight line, and never got 1 tick / chigger.

Of course it could be my animal magnetism(cue REEdan Randy) that repelled them.
