I played there a couple of years ago and the temp course was not more than 10 minutes away.

That was what the locals and flyers had listed as "THE DAM" Course.

Is Riverpark the SAME course renamed or another temp course?

Vern might know since he knows alot of the locals. I'd like to know also to possibly play there since the Armada has sunk until June.

Keith is very wise. I do know the info and would be glad to share it with everybody.

This year the "Chick Dam" will not be played. River Park is not very far from the Sinks. You would drive from the Sinks course and take the same exit as you would if you were going to the Chick Dam Course but you would turn right and travel about 2 miles. Overall no more than 5-10 minutes away. Basically the new course is just across the river. However, I would recommend driving versus trying to swim across. With all of you gear you may drown and then not be able to play the other course.

The Chickamauga Dam course could not be used for this event this year so we will be using the Riverpark to setup a temp course. The Riverpark property we will be using it directly across the river from the sinks, so its a little closer than the Dam course. Its going to be a great course that will contrast the Sinks much like the Dam but won't have the elevation changes. Look for an opportunity very soon to get a look at the Riverpark layout.
Also,
This years Grapevine has been selected to be a qualifier tourney for the Us Am Disc Golf Championship in Michigan. This event is played on a Temp course called the Toboggan that is just absolutely amazing ....it rivals the Crucible for those of you who know about that. Also, very close to the Toboggan is 3 courses in my top 15 par 54 courses. The Tunnel, and the 2 courses at Hudson Mills. So while you're not playing your tournament rounds at the Toboggan you can play some additional top notch courses in the area.
To qualify for this event, you have to play in the MA1 division at the Grapevine tourney and be a CURRENT PDGA member. The top 10% to 15% in the MA1 division will qualify. I would love to see some folks from our tourney represent at the Toboggan course this year.

For more info go here and make sure to check out the pics of the course.

Look for the registration for the Grapevine tourney very soon.

I remember that "DAM" course. It is the closest I've ever come to quitting a round of disc golf...

I may also venture up for this tourney. Haven't played the sinks in awhile.

I played the sinks the other day, and signed up for this tourney.

For those that told me it was like ERP,... I think NOT. It has clearly defined fairways, no random trees in middle of fairways, hardly any pines or straw or mulch everywhere, and there is multiple pins for almost every hole (some with actual baskets in both positions).

It is a tight course and you do have to make good shots, but I would compare this to a full course of the woods holes of Redan (6,7,10-13) and not ERP.

I also drove by the Riverpark location, and there is a Large park there mostly wooded, so that should be an interesting course as well. And like Vern said, its about 5 mins from the Sinks.

The RiverPark course design is complete and will be setup on Friday April 17th for practice rounds. Also, It is not a woods course.....think Redan's 1-5, 13-15.
Should be fun and a good contrast to the Sinks.
As always, we will strive to make the payout worth the trip.
Hope some of you ATL's can make it but if not I'll see you at Toccoa.

Question for anyone who knows the plan for this event.

From what I read on the flyer, the check in is at The Sinks 8-9, and then we go to whatever course we play first, where there will be a players meeting at 9:15 before the first round starts?

OR

Check in 8-9 and players meeting at 9:15 at The Sinks and then we get in our cars and head to the other course if needed, and tee off at 9:30?

I'm bringing the Delorean just in case I have to go to the riverpark course first

Not sure. I would think the players meeting would cover both groups/courses so that things don't have to be repeated before the 2nd round for the other group. Then the group that has to travel to the other course gets an extra 10-15 minutes added on to the start time before a horn blows at the other location. Just a guess though.

Just spoke with the TD, pros and advanced are starting at the sinks and playing the temp course for the second round. I forgot to ask about any other divisions. Sorry.

Congrats to Bootsie for winning the Grapevine Classic in a two hole playoff.

Other Atlanta players did okay. Scores are still not up even though they had a laptop on site. Not complainin', just sayin'.
