Vern and I are just playing with you all - for most Events you can check on who's in because the TD will post it on their thread, or if it's PDGA post it on the PDGA website - but in all seriousness, being that this is unsanctioned, you would need to ask the TD to post the list, maybe even on this thread.

I was thinking more philosophical. As soon as one player signs up there would be by default a list. I cannot tell you where the list actually exists, or what players are on the list, but I can assure you there is a list. Seek within your minds for the answers when these types of questions come about and look for enlightenment.

BTW - Chris is the TD and doing a fine job already. I thank him in advance for his work on this event. I am simply one of the many who likes to work people.

I'm guessing that Chris Pierce has the ability to generate a list easily with the data he gathers in online sign-up. I do get an email for everyone that registers. It's just a matter of me getting the time to gather those emails, pull the information from them, and formulate them into some meaningful spreadsheet. Of course, if this were a PDGA sanctioned event, this would be a moot point, since all player info would go to the PDGA & they post it... or did that get lost with the new site iteration as well?

Actually - the PDGA never posts it, it is the TD that is responsible for uploading the info to the PDGA website.
It is easy to post here or on the PDGA with an Excel spreadsheet, as you only need 4 things for the PDGA website - PDGA #, First name, Last name and Division.

You need less for Non-sanctioned if you want - you could just put name and division. With the emails Chris sends you, you could even put that info in a Word document and the just copy and paste it here once in a while when you get signups in.

The date of this tourney has not changed and I don't anticipate that it will. I am in contact with GCP&R and have been assured that our date is a good one. The official park opening ceremony will be on May 16, however.

Couple questions..
Although it isn't sanctioned, are the pros still playing for a reasonable cash payout, or is it prizes like some other unsanctioned fundraiser events?

Also, are there really 3 Open Women signed up already??? :D That is unheard of around here but very exciting!! If it's true I will definitely try to make it out there that day!!

Regardless, I can't wait to play the course sometime - not too far of a trek from Athens and it seems pretty nice!

Then all you would have to do is throw from the tee, go forward in time a few seconds and ace all 18 holes! New course record at the first Event!

There are no open women signed up to date. A minimum of three are needed for each division. You've got plenty of time to scrounge up two more players!

Payout for pros is 100%.

Ahh ok I assumed that the "women" division you have the ladies listed under was open since the online signup only has the choice of open women. bummer

In sanctioned event play you can restrict access to a division if the player qualifies for that division. If a woman wants to compete in the Open Women Division and their aren't 3 or more in the division they can still compete as Pro. Now it is true that you can't have less than 3 players in a group on a hole and this might be where you getting confused.

Ahh ok I assumed that the "women" division you have the ladies listed under was open since the online signup only has the choice of open women.

You could compete in any of the men's division if you wanted.

Christopher tried very hard to keep the date. It was scheduled for 5 weeks after the original planned opening date, giving what we all thought was plenty of time for slipping dats. It turned out that the opening date has slipped beyond anyone's anticipation. Thanks to Christopher and Vicki for working with the County Parks and Rec people to try and save the date. Ultimately it turned out to not be possible.

On the plus side, we will now have some time to practice the course before the tournament. This is good for me because my Delorean has a broken Mr. Fusion. Negative two weeks of practice wasn't going to work for me. :)

Thanks for trying to keep the date. While we are dissapointed in the delay these things happen. Any idea when we can get on the course?

In response to a privately voiced concern to my "brief" answer as to why there is no Intermediate division, I provide this to the masses:

My answer was a glib joke, but I am afraid that I am not on par with Vermin in that dept.

It was decided that because it a non-sanctioned event and since many people seem to be playing in divisions below their player rating, just to combine recreational and intermediate. There hasn't been any comment about this until now. This is meant to be a tourney for FUN and to introduce new players to the game, and that was the primary intent when the divisions were formed.

I apologize if anyone has a problem with the lack of an intermediate division and/or the reasons for it. However, it is what it is. Deal with it. Come on out and have fun anyway, or go play somewhere else...

Tiger Who, does he play baseball, unless its NFL I dont know who you are talking about. I have already signed up about 2 months ago as Advanced which is where my player rating is unless the bump down game is comencing then I will plat REC, you think I want to compete with $ "maybe" if there are more people in open. The course map lists it as a par 57...but that seems high for a 5356 ft course. It doesn't have a breakdown on hole distances.

Holes 3, 16, 17, and 18 all have basket placements that are par 4's (they all also have placements that will play as a par 3). So, depending on how things are set, it could be anything from a Par 54 to a Par 58.

For ease of direction, we have told the contractor to put all baskets in location A (for opening day). I am hoping that they will turn over the keys to either Chris or Vicki or Jay on opening day this Saturday. Then we can put the baskets where we want for the tourney.

We have trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in all 4 divisions. Plus, there will be 100% payout in all divisons; cash to the Pros and GreaseMoney to the Ams.

We'll have an Ace Race at lunch. The prize for first ace will be a set of 3 sweet collector discs, yellow Champion Valkyrie's signed by Juliana Korver and dyed with Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Pearl Jam logos. $1 per throw or 6 throws for $5.

When I asked Kim Shealy (our volunteer co-ordinator of Gwinnett County)about basket keys for the GDGO she said she will be there all day on the 27th; she has keys and will help move any baskets that day.

WooHooo!! schedule conflict is resolved and I will be there!!!! With only four pros registered, odds are in my favor to bring home a trophy! Unless some people(ahem, ahem, Baggers) move up????????
Is this post really necessary?

Friendly reminder to everyone, and this will be posted in the tourney flier as well as announced prior to the start:
No alcohol or illegal drugs on the course during the tourney. Violation will result in immediate disqualification.

What you do during lunch is your business, as far as I am concerned, but I am sure everyone is aware that those things are illegal at all Gwinnett parks. If you do choose to break the law, you'd better not let me see it.

I care about the tourney & the image projected by the GDGO; there will be quite a few kids there, as well as my own... let's all set a good example. :D Please don't put me or anyone else in the position to be the bad guy...

OK, I'll get off my high horse now.

The County has told me that they plan to mow the grass and install trashcans before this Saturday - Yay! Our Gwinnett County Liaison, Kim Shealy, will be at the Alex all day for the tournament; when you see her please thank her for being supportive of disc golf :)

ATTENTION!!!!!

Solstice has closed online registration at 72 players at my request to allow for people to show up on tourney day. Quite a few people expressed the desire to show on the day of the tourney and I was concerned that it would fill before tourney day... so:

If you want to play the AAA it is first come, first served. When those 18 spots are gone, well, we'll see. Registration & check-in starts at 0830.

It will probably be at one of the pavilions near the entrance. We have use of the playground pavilion and the other one near the entrance, but not the one over the pond. Look for the GDGO Banner which will most likely be set up at the check-in area.

Thanks to everyone that had a hand in running the tournament. Had a blast. Wish I could have stuck around but I had to run. I'm blaming my dog for not being around to collect a payout :( He owes me a couple discs now :)

Looking forward to the next tournament at Alexander, just hopefully not when it's this hot.

Great tourney guys, had a blast. Just one little niggle though, With mixing the open ladies with the rec ladies, all of the women's division should of paid out. If you can go 20 deep in the rec, you could of gone 6 deep in the ladies pool. With the difficulty that we have getting women to these tourneys, not doing so did quite a bit of damage to the few women who were there wanting to play again.

I told Dollar I was coming to get him, before ever throwing 1 disc on the course this morning on his new home course, and after 33 holes I had tied him up.

Too bad we played the last 3.

Good shooting Dollar - Congrats and I guess I'll get my chance again at Hotlanta, unless some other old guys sign up.

Thanks to the GDGO (so I don't leave anyone's name off) for a fun day and a fine Event!

Great job with getting the county to work with Disc Golfers in getting Disc golf in the parks!

Lastly, a special thanks to Gerrit Van Vranken for showing me the course this morning. I only changed a couple of shot selections from what I told him I would be throwing on each hole when we walked it.
Next time I'll take a disc with me on a new course, so I don't mess up Lorelei's hole like I did today. (didn't make it past halfway in either round on a 275 foot long 40 foot wide uphill hole :x )

Ditto to all of the accolades. As the little trees/ hollies grow and mature, the course will take on a brand new look and will be a fun challenge.
It might be a future goal to build a pavillion near hole one. We all looked like nomads in the desert trekking to the course. Almost like a scene from Mad Maxx.
Well done GDGO!

Phase 2 of park construction includes parking and other stuff closer to hole 1. Unfortunately phase 2 is postponed indefinitely. Apparently there are problems with the economy or something.

Anytime you want to put cash, or some of your great cooking on the line, I'll show you lucky. If you were playing this weekend we could have a little wager with you playing your home courses, and me playing the courses for the 5th (REEdan)and 2nd (Moseley) time in almost 4 years of being here in GA.

Dollar is the lucky one - He let a chump like me tie him from 5 down with nine holes to play, and only a tee sign misread on 16 on my part let him get a stroke lead with 2 holes to play. :x

I'll be playing Hotlanta, and cooking for it as well. We can make a wager then. I was at JP Moseley working on Sat. & Sun. so I've been a bit busy trying to get the course in shape. I'll be there 2 days this week working on the final clean-up of a few holes.
I look forward to watching you throw off-shots and nib a tree, and land back in the fairway 8)
All while my shot hits and lands in another fairway :|

I KNOW all of the work you do and it is appreciated Josh.

I didn't see your name on the list of players - glad to see you'll be there playing!

I never have seemed to shoot well at REEdan in the past, but I'm hoping after not playing there in over a year, and with the newer attitude and play, that might change.

So I'll propose this wager for you.
After 1st round if you are ahead, I'll buy my lunch at double the cost, and if I'm ahead i'll get a free lunch.

And we can also put some cash (what your willing to lose  ) on overall final score.

This is all from memory from helping with the board - it is close if not exact numberwise.

Taking Rachel (pro woman playing short tees to TD instructions with all the other 8 REC ladies and junior girls) out of the equation, the other 4 paid women scores were all 3 strokes apart - I think 124, 125, 126 and 127 for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place scores. Amy Bowers 5th, Stephanie 2nd or 4th, Katie 2nd or 4th(I can't picture who had the 2nd place trophy) and Nina 3rd.

That's the best I can give you Bill - Sorry - I thought he would post the scores myself also, or I would have mentioned it to him, that people would expect them sanctioned or not.
Now the only record of my second place finish to Dollar will be in my 4somes memory banks.

REC - last name is Ruby - I remembered it in case he tries to sign up for REC in any GSSS Event - he would have tied for 3rd in open and won ADV - NO REC FOR YOU!!!

I had already posted that 1/2 an hour before Plotky posted, and I knew putting that I didn't know if it was him or Garner would get him to post  - I just didn't think he would post incorrect info

This Ruby guy is even more of a bagger than Gomez, as Gomez would never be in the top of ADV or top 3 in OPEN.

This is off topic, but I'm planning on playing Alexander today and am not 100% clear on how to get there.

I'll be coming in on Sugarloaf, then I'll take a right on 124. What next?

The park is basically located at Old Snellville and Sugarloaf. Its 800 Old Snellville Hwy. You should be able to stay on Sugarloaf till you hit Old Snellville. It's just before the YMCA on the right if your going towars Grayson. Hope this helps.

What time you plan on being there?

Old Snellville Hwy is the right before 124...if you get to 124 either turn around or take a right and go all the way to webb gin and then hit your immediate right (around the Mexican joint).
